Protomen - Act II
Over the weekend I picked up the second full-length album from The Protomen, Act II: The Father of Death, and it struck me how an album of this nature could / should never exist purely digitally. While I'm sure you can buy it purely as mp3's I feel like you'd only be getting about a third of the experience. The packaging creates an incredibly in-depth Bladerunner-esque world complete with additional notes as to the setting of each song. The whole thing really is a Rock Opera - in the truest sense of the phrase. The music itself matches this sensibility; as it is incredibly dramatic.Aside from being an enjoyable listen (which it is) it's nice to see such a high concept album getting such phenomenal treatment in its printed form - making the physical purchase even more worthy of the investment. Congrats to Version for such a job well done.
