Don't be fooled by the awkward looking birds on the Spritely site.. there's something powerful going on there that gets overshadowed by the cartoon-y look. Bascally, it's a character and image animation engine that allows for some great transitions and movement on a page without the use of Flash. Check out Quadrifoglio Rosso and his implementation of it - subtle, well done and eye-grabbing. And no Flash! I'm really taken with the notion that one day simple Flash sites could easily be replaced by Javascript powered sites.. quite nuts.
