This past week Last.fm announced their newest and biggest additional feature - loads of free full-length tracks and albums. 3.5 million songs to be a bit more exact. It's an impressive feature but I've heard rumblings from some that they should focus on getting "scrobbling" to be more efficient and work on a better recommendation system, not play in the digital distribution waters. Some are even asking Where does Last.fm go from here? Maybe this is business ignorance but maybe it doesn't need to go anywhere. They offer a great service and if they'd perfect the system it would be a no-brainer about what music recording service to use (i.e. Last.fm vs VIRB recorder vs whatever else).
