movie weekend 2
Yet another movie filled weekend (somehow).Dr. Strangelove - I'd never seen it before and rather enjoyed it. Peter Sellers is pretty incredible and I certainly recommend this to anyone. I guess that kind of goes without saying though.
Network - loads of dialogue so I wouldn't sit down to watch this one at 12:30 at night (like I did) but it's kind of amazing how pertinent some of the rants are to today's society. The TV exec screaming about there being no democracy, only the ideals of money and capitalism in particular was dead on. The love story subplot was aggravating as it was pretty much completely unnecessary.
Primer - hailed as along the lines of "Donnie Darko" and "the headiest, most singular science-fiction movie since Kubrick made 2001" but ya know what? I had no idea what was going on. Much like ole Donnie Darko you have to see it, research what was going on, and then see it again. I would reveal more but then you'd be more informed than I was going into it and that would ruin the fun now wouldn't it?
The Life & Death of Peter Sellers came on HBO last night and wrapped the weekend up. It was a decent film but certainly not a fantastic biopic or anything.. though I am interested in seeing a lot more from Peter Sellers.
