woops - San Francisco
Thanksgiving weekend was a blast for me and I hope the same mentality applies for you. Aside from some serious quality time with friends and family it was nice just have a long stretch of time away from the office and a general work environment. Not that I don't love my job, but it's always good to get away.I happened to catch a few new movies as well. The first being For Your Consideration, the latest from Christopher Guest. I thought it was an enjoyable (particularly Fred Willard and John Michael Higgins) but fell short from the previous movies. "A Mighty Wind" didn't do a whole lot for me either so maybe the fascination is just fading in general.
Then last night I caught The Fountain - the latest from Darren Aronofsky. The cinematography was dead on for basically every single shot, often looking like it was directly inspired by a graphic novel. The acting was great, the special effects as well.. but the story was a bit much at times. It seemed heavy handed and unneccasary to do the three tiered story. I'd like to see it again but the last 10 minutes of the movie were bizarre and somewhat ridiculous. Actually, they were absolutely ridiculous - no doubt about it but worth seeing.
And now I find myself in San Francisco about to head out to a meeting. It certainly seems like I've come out here a lot more this year than I ever have previously. Hope everyone had a great weekend.. regular posting will continue tomorrow.
