Apollo Application
I've been doing some reading this morning on the new cross-platform runtime layer called Apollo that is being developed by Adobe Labs. Basically it allows you to take a web application (Flash or AJAX style HTML) and compile it for desktop usage - completely outside of a browser environment. Doesn't sound entirely different from what mProjector does now but I am sure it'sThe first release of the runtime is available for download now but I'm 99% confident that I'm far too ignorant to even begin dabbling in such a thing. After watching some introductory videos and finding out more about Flex, Flash Player 9 and Actionscript 3 my head is swimming. There is a whole lot of new technology on its way from Adobe and it's going to be a task to keep up.
* Addendum: I think it should be noted that it's probably short sighted of me to assume that the Apollo app will be more robust than mProjector based purely on the fact that Adobe is developing it for their own software. Just because it's made in-house doesn't mean it's better. I've used mProjector for a handful of projects and it's always been incredibly easy to use.. I'd hate to fault it for that.
