Open Letters
Dear eMusic,Thank you for all that you do in offering a DRM-free download service for such a wide variety of artists and genres. Your catalog is not as deep as those of some of your competitors but the lack of digital rights management and your easy to use Download Manager makes up for those areas where you are lacking. In fact, I would go as far as to say your best "weapon" against your competitors and possible draw for new customers would be a highly pleasurable user experience. Making your site incredibly easy to use will make people more prone to return to the site, download more music and possibly purchase Booster packs or upgrade their subscription service.
That being said, why is it that I have to login every single time I visit your site? If I stop browsing it for a quick 15 minutes I am prompted to log into my account again. I understand the basic security concerns with offering a service such as yours but a simple checkbox that says "Remember Me" and sets a cookie to remember my login information for, say, a week - would be very easy to implement and would make everyones experience just that much better.
I would also like to inquire as to why it is that when I write your Customer Support in regards to this issue your reply is simply "There is not currently a way to save login information on the site as this time." I realize this! That is why I wrote you in the first place! A reply along the lines of "we are constantly looking to improve our service and will investigate your suggestion" would be just as placating but might actually imply that you will look into my idea.
