AT&T vs Boing Boing
Okay, so AT&T vs. Boing Boing is a bit over the top but recently Joel Johnson, gadget guy at Boing Boing, went on the AT&T Channels "The Hugh Thompson Show" and instead of talking about gadgets went into a little talk about how AT&T has announced a new 'filtering policy' that basically allows them to sniff through everything you're doing on their network and take action if they find something they don't like. Quite a subjective and Big Brother environment they are building. This article gives the whole rundown and this entry is Joel's take on the experience (with the interview that will likely never air).Apparently doing something of this nature is called "pulling a Harvey Pekar" (or, for our generation - "pulling a John Stewart) - and I commend it. I doubt too many people really watch AT&T's "The Hugh Thompson Show" so it probably wouldn't stir the waters much if it had aired but it's great that these things are being brought up somewhere and hopefully not getting buried under mounds of political crap.
