Whiskerino: Fin
I almost skipped out on commenting on the round up of Whiskerino today but I can't see that as being appropriate since it has consumed my daily life for the past four months. The experience of growing a beard alongside 200-300 other dudes on a public internet site is probably the most bizarre thing you can describe to someone that you're involved in (much less in charge of) but I am consistently amazed at how effectively it works as a conduit for completely legit friendship. Honestly, I feel like I have a much larger group of actual friends across the nation (and world) now that Whiskerino is coming to an end. As in, I could go to any one of their towns, give them a ring, grab a beer and it wouldn't be totally awkward. In fact, we'd probably have a lot to talk about. How does that happen?I choose not to question the magic. It is a strange and wonderful beast and despite all the stress it brings to me, I really do love it. There's a thesis paper in there somewhere but I'm not the guy to write it.
So to anyone that participated, watched, lurked or even glanced at the site - thank you very much. I learned a lot, feel more cultured and am a better person for the experience.
