Google vs Cuil, not quite.
According to this article a group of ex-Google developers have left the company and started their own search engine, Cuil. According to their own records they are indexing a larger quantity of pages than Google (though hard to tell since Google doesn't publicize their indexed page count), presenting their results in a more "magazine like" format and striving to maintain a users privacy by not capturing data about their surfing patterns. While that may all sound decent if you perform a simple test... say, search for yewknee - this site isn't even on the first page (or even the fifth)! Cuil may be indexing more pages but they apparently don't quantify the relevancy of those pages against each other. Add to that the images associated with some of the search results don't even match up and you've got a losing combination.
It may be worth checking back on Cuil every so often to see what they're up to but they've got a long way to go if they want to usurp the most widely known name in search.
