Nintendo loves Mario

Super Mario Bros Wii

Super Mario Galaxy 2
There are some that might say announcing two Mario based games at E3 was a bad move for Nintendo (i.e. they're out of ideas) but based on the two trailers I really couldn't be more excited. There's much talk of the Xbox Natal project (Microsoft's superior answer to the Wii Fit?) but there's something relaxing about just sitting back and enjoying a tried and true formula game like Mario.

Between Two Ferns with Bradley Cooper

Another installment of Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis has been posted. This time around it's with his "The Hangover" co-star Bradley Cooper. The best bits are near the end so be sure to experience the interview in its entirety.

Video Entertainment

Between Two Ferns always delivers a nice dose of discomfort and the Slaughter Shack is absurd - make sure to wait until the very end on that one, as it doesn't hit its high mark until then.

Between Two Ferns

Start your Monday off with some intentionally awkward comedy from Zach Galifianakis and Jon Hamm.

Voting Incentives

Don't Just Rock The Vote...

Vote: How Are you?
Neither of these are, technically, SFW but they also aren't extraordinarily over the top or anything. I should probably have saved them for Friday but they need to be enjoyed now and they act as a nice reminder that you can probably early vote in your city, so please do so with the quickness.

Boxee

So I was fortunate enough to be granted an invite to Boxee - the "social media center for OS X and linux." Basically it's an offshoot of the XBox Media Center that organizes all your local media (music / movies) as well as gives access to online entertainment like YouTube, Hulu, Comedy Central, CNN, etc. etc. I've only played with it for a little bit but the interface is well done and the amount of accessible media is immense. Add to that the 'social' aspect where you see what your friends are watching and recommending and it becomes legitimately entertaining.

I apparently have access to Invite Friends so if you're interested in an account, give me a shout and I'll see what I can do to pass one along.

Whiskerino: The Movie: The Teaser

So, back when Whiskerino began last year I was approached by Bobby Marko and his team about making a documentary of the event. While I wasn't clear on how you make a film about an online event (and still am not) I was still intrigued to see what they had in store. They just posted the first teaser and it looks quite good. Who knows if it will bloom into anything more than a few teasers at this point but, at the very least it's a fun thing to watch as a reminder of the whole Whiskerino phenomena.

The Paulson Plan

Don't Rush
I do not claim to completely understand the current financial situation on Wall Street and the in's and out's of the Paulson Bailout Plan™ but having watched this take on the whole thing re-enforces my thoughts that a three page plan that drums up $700 billion dollars and contains this language:
Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency.
is, hands down, not a plan that has been fully thought out.

In lighter news, the Daily Show episode with Bill Clinton was pretty entertaining.

Nashville Gas

Nashville Gas
I've seen this video repurposed for many things but the topical nature of the Nashville gas situation really hit home with me. All of us here in the office were dying laughing. If you're a TN resident (or were one) you may find this extremely amusing.. if not, you probably won't be amused in the slightest. Watch it here (as the Bubble Ply embed is not keen on the sizing I use).

Many thanks to JB for the heads up.

Gremlins: Fan Film

Gremlins
If you're a fan of Gremlins (well, Gremlins 2) you likely remember the scene where the fourth wall is broken and the Gremlins themselves take over the movie projector. Apparently there was a special VHS version made of this scene and then junked once the movie made it to DVD. Enter, Sacha Feiner - an extremely enthusiastic Gremlins fan that decided to make a brand new seven-minute interlude that could have been used in the DVD version. The quality is actually quite remarkable - from the Gremlins puppets to the integration into all the different scenes. You can watch the Making Of here but I suggest partaking in the real goods first.
