You should really update your bookmarks to link to this so you can see all the new stuff. Thanks.

I should be converting over to Moveable Type sometime today.. so until then I'm not going to be able to update, because those entries won't make it over to the new archive. So, in other words, please stand by for technical difficulties.

Everyone and their mother may love them but that's not going to stop me from raving about BLK/MRKT. Astounding work.. very strong visual technique... can't say enough good things about them, and now they've got a new site.
04:44:27 PM

Nashvillians, mark your calendars. Ben Kweller is coming to the Exit/In. Maybe that new booking guy IS doing a good job...
02:37:07 PM

Jeff was tell me about hearing David Sedaris read his SantaLand Diaries on This American Life - and thanks to this site I've run across the archived stream... not really the kind of thing I want to listen to while sitting here at work but I've read the short story and it's quite amusing, so you may want to gather the family around and partake in his musings.
02:22:54 PM

Loads and loads of photography from Jean Baptiste Mondino.
02:15:05 PM

I've seen the works of Supermundane in Faestetic and This Is A Magazine before but never his site.. and now thanks to an Arkitip link that's all been changed. Love his style.
02:07:26 PM

Check the bonus animation here - So smooth.
01:47:33 PM

New works at Demo. Alot of them are not in the same vein as the "typical" super in-depth vector intricacies.. alot more of a handdrawn feel. Nice variety.
01:44:34 PM

Funny Terminator 3 trailer. "She'll be back" - man, they just gotta work that in there! So clever!
01:28:34 PM

Get more from your stuff - visit E Eggs and find out what else is going on with the music, movies, computers, tv, books, and art you own. Too much stuff to even begin to mention...
11:05:40 AM

Informative link from the615 - the 2002 Year-End Zeitgeist. Basically the top searches (and thus, interests of the internet nation) via google. Unfortunately, no real surprises.

As if you didn't know.. This is a Magazine. And it's a great issue.. I love the illustrations mixed with the birds...
02:57:53 PM

I knew it! Those "Fear" boxes were an art project outta control.
02:44:15 PM

The new metro/sea site is pretty rad. The portfolio of works is stylin. I know if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.. but I wish the log text was aliased - and not embedded.. it just looks weird the way it is on my machine. BUT to counter-act that statement, the overall design is really nice, the portfolio is all strong work (he designed a tent!), and the mixtape has some great songs in it (anyone including Cex in their list of listenable's knows whats going on).
02:42:20 PM

D'oh, nevermind about LUCA - I just had an old page bookmarked or something. I'm dumb.
02:14:10 PM

I heard a dirty rumor that MOOKS closed their doors - anyone know if this is true? I hope not.. their winter line was actually rather cool looking. And Mooks reminds me of Luca - why is this site down? I loved the works, I wanna look at it again.. c'mon Internet - bend to my whim!
02:13:10 PM

I love the layout of The Art of Sarah Doyle. It's very "print" oriented in a way, but it works. There's an element of chaos to it all but it works.. the squirrel belt and Prince pants are entertaining as well.
02:07:17 PM

Beauty through simplicity over at dextro. Even if you just view the first piece, it's worth the visit - great movement. There's some hit and miss style stuff, so it's not for everyone - but I like how the nav is laid out and that there is some sort of strange inherent beauty through math.
02:02:59 PM

New site for nude crowd photography Spencer Tunick. I'm sure there's more to it than that, but it helps to jog your memory (you remember.. that huge masssive crowd of nude people lying down filling unbelievable amounts of space?). Oh, and a little bonus for the site is that Bryan coded it.. so if it breaks on you, he's the man to contact. But I think he did a great job, works very well for me and looks good.. simple and clean.
11:50:26 AM

Woah, distraction extraordinaire! Flash Curling!
11:13:26 AM

Work out your spacebar holding skills over at !guana - and end up viewing some pretty cool works.

It may be called Haphazard Studios but the sites being produced here aren't "dependent upon or characterized by mere chance" (dictionary.com of course). Lots of really well thought out sites, good attention to detail, and definetly some animation skills. The VS battles in the personal portfolio aren't anything to shy away from either...
06:40:32 PM

Thank you Fugitive Alien for the news about Family Guy AND Futurama coming to DVD - and Region 1 releases even!
12:50:51 PM

Xerox film short goodness right here. I prefer it with the music nixed. Curious Pictures indeed (loads and loads of stuff to watch)...
12:41:10 PM

The site may not reflect it but Richard Avedon has done some of the most wonderful portrait photography to date. So if you aren't familiar with him.. at least check out the few samples they have on the site, and then buy me the Richard Avedon: Made In France book. Seriously.
12:14:34 PM

Holy crap, spend enough cash at Gateway and they'll give you a free computer. Dang.. maybe now is the time to buy a laptop.. but a Gateway laptop.. hrm...
10:39:28 AM

Version 2 of tokidoki is up and it's got plenty of cute cartoons / japanese ladies to spare. Lots of works to look at and every bit of it good stuff.. alot of really stylized characters.
10:28:10 AM

If anyone deserves a copy of Sneaker Freaker, it's Nick (who has the severe lowdown on all things Christmas). And DiK is giving away copies, just for pictures of people with sneakers... oh. and the site actually has some worthwhile art of sneakers if you're at all interested...
10:19:40 AM

It's a Christmas themed version of Marble Madness called Snowglobe Simon!... well, it's actually a bit more inventive than that (you gotta collect presents and you're not a marble). Same basic movement dynamics though.
08:02:09 PM

"...it could have been anything from a weird art project to a publicity stunt..." - I'm going with "weird art project" to invoke thought regarding 'letting them win.' Because in many cases.. they already have.
07:54:02 PM

Brilliant navigation (all of it - primary and secondary), super clean design, imaginative and fun - all at Bukwild. That should tide you over for the weekend.

Check out the simple, yet elegant, portfolio of Geoff Alday. I've always had a fondness for the WRLT site and the Duncan May site is quite nice as well. I'm not saying it's restricted to just those being good.. but they are the ones that stand out initially to me. Nice werks.
02:57:27 PM

New t-shirts and hoodies available at Silent Uproar - as well as their winter mp3 compilation - featuring several tracks chosen by yours truly.
01:01:53 PM

Some Canadian officials want to legalize pot for kids 16-yrs and older... but it seems that will get shot down and decriminalization will be more likely to happen - fines for 30g or less. I'm not a pot smoker but I do believe that people being sent to jail for a small amount of marijiuana is ridiculous (especially with no intent to re-sale).
12:56:09 PM

Read Sean Penn's letter to the President. Loads of valid points and it's not angry.. it's pleading. Alot of people think actors / musicians should keep their mouth shut on issues like these because they are no more important than anyone else just because they are "famous" but I disagree - they have a chance to have their voice be heard that the common person does not. Why not "use that power for good"? Instead of just squandering it away.
12:47:36 PM

Don't believe the hype. Grafiti does not hurt. It incites and provokes thought if anything - and it certainly helps an artist express themselves. It's alot like file-sharing actually.. do it responsibly and it can be a great thing - abuse it and you'll ruin it for everyone. You know what hurts? The fact that someone wants you believe that this photo is even a tiny bit realistic... noone paints in a suit and tie, especially with a roller in a back alley.
12:40:45 PM

Some beautiful photography at k23. The "red" set and "around town" are probably my favorites.. lots of good stuff.
12:32:50 PM

New stuff from UPSO.
12:27:31 PM

Woah.. crazy.
12:07:00 PM

Someone was kind enough to upload ENEMY mp3's to a free host.. get them while you can. Oh, and if you didn't know ENEMY is the band fronted by Perfect Circle / Queens Of The Stone Age / Revenge of The Triad / Failure guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen.
11:21:01 AM

Reliance on natural resources are bad. That tanker that tanked recently could be leaking until 2006. Great excuse for Bush to really win that "war with Iraq" though - cause we're in such desperate need of oil. C'mon Hydrogen cars... we need you!
11:14:48 AM

Keeping with my nerdly links of the day, apparently there is a new videogame coming out that requires you to convert real money into "Project Entropia Dollars" to buy items in the game - none of this imaginary crap anymore, you want a new pair of winged boots, you're paying for them. The interesting part is that there will be items in the game (treasure chests, etc) that will actually earn you money for playing... my money will be that this concept will flop, but it's an interesting idea none-the-less.
11:12:53 AM

Check the December 6th entry over at Life Through A Lens. The final three pictures make me drool they are so nice but they are all salivatingly good.
11:08:47 AM

Woah, Duncan coming with the amazing monitor look. Dual LCD's for a little over 2k?! Rad. I wish the resolution recommended was a little bit higher, but it's dual LCD's!
10:34:33 AM

Read the domain name of this site as if it were a mother shaking her finger at an unruly child. Pretty cool flash presentation tho.. and a not so bad message either. Our country is definetly nuts. Link via Kurt.
10:30:36 AM

New trailer for X2 - the X-Men sequel. Decent teaser.. shows alot of action with a few suggestions at what the plot may be. Looks pretty cool but I will hold strong that Halle Berry as Storm is a poor poor casting choice. She looks the part, but somehow cheeses it up too much (yea, that's right.. cheeses it up too much for a comic book adaptation film).

No internet... No.
03:01:48 PM

Yet another link from DiK is Mr. Jago. The style is difficult to describe as it feels modern or futuristic but doesn't have that super refined sharp edge to it, it's somewhat disorganized and almost sloppy (but on purpose mind you).
11:52:09 AM

Check In Design We Trust - the "Search and Destroy Din Font" piece in the People section is great. Lots of other nice works but that one stands out for me.
11:46:29 AM

Cute-sy and twisted. Just the way it should be. Friends With You has an innocent look but there's something devious lurking in there. Check out the shop and the gallery for a bunch of well made projects - alot of which are adorable and dangerous.
11:30:50 AM

I received Arkitip #14 in the mail today. Some truely inspired works.. so nice to see stuff like this. I see that Issue 15 is available now.. maybe I should consider a subscription...

Yah! Our government has said it will use nuclear attacks in a retaliation against Iraq or other hostile countries in response to a chemical or biological attack. Greeeeaat. So if they have nukes, and we have nukes.. whats to stop us from blowing the living hell out of each other? Certainly not the will of the people. More evidence of the US playing schoolyard bully... gotta love it.
11:53:46 AM

Interesting article on Shigeru Miyamoto, the man credited with bringing videogames to the level of popularity that they have now. He created Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros, and The Legend of Zelda... but the article poses the question - are those games too cute for the growing up audience of today?
11:35:09 AM

I just went through this entire Interactive Promo for Life Of Pi and while alot of it looks really good, I have no clue what the book is really about. A guy gets thrown off a boat, dreams about lowering the apprehension of animals towards humans, wake up back in his life raft near an island and receives 35% off on the book about his journey. Weird.
11:10:31 AM

Watch the trailer for Bruce Almighty. A movie about Jim Carrey being bestowed with the power of God for one week. I hate to admit it, but something about his aloof nature really amuses me (i.e. see keyboard shot from trailer). It will obviously be a total fluff movie but should be alright.
