Take a stylist, a photographer, and a mutual interest in the similarities in dress code between social groups and you get
Exactitudes - sort of an exploration in stereotypes. Aside from making an intriguing website, it'd be a nice coffee table book.

Two fairly amazing hotels to check out (different themes for each room, some of which get pretty insane). Check
Hotel Pelirocco for some pop subculture type rooms and then check
Propeller Island City Lodge for some truly inspired rooms.

Okay.. why isn't
this article plastered on the front page of every media outlet out there? Why am I reading about an
amphibious car instead of the fact that a US-based company is producing 200 barrels of oil per day from processing
turkey parts. This is an 80% energy efficent plant that powers itself, creates no emmisions or hazardous waste streams, and provides a viable alternative to drilling for oil, yet it's not frontpage news (or at least front page of the Science section). Is it possible that our government could assist a company like this with pursuing such a seemingly worthy goal, or will they just continue to show preference to big oil companies that they're already in bed with?

Happy Birthday
Jeremy, for your birthday I will proceed to steal some quality links from ya.
Jody Rogac Photography - nice, clean, simple photos. Great compositions and colors.
Oak & Elm - nice portfolio of works. I especially enjoy the packaging design and the cereal box art.
WOWCH - I have no idea what is going on here but it's the most insane collection of shirts and jackets I've seen. I want that Lion / Tiger combo, or the eagle wizard.

So I went on somewhat of a movie binge this weekend... first I saw
Saved! on Friday.. I'd give it a solid B, possibly B-, in terms of teen comedies but I certainly could have done without the Mandy Moore contributions on the soundtrack.
But in comparison to the tragedy I witnessed on Saturday, Saved! was a masterpiece. Thanks to a pact I made with a friend, I attended
Garfield on Saturday and I'm convinced someone drugged Bill Murray into participating. I realize it was a kids movie but I'd like to give kids more credit than this movie allowed for. I knew it would probably rank as one of the worst movies I've witnessed and I was right.
On Sunday, I almost watched
Big Fish but skipped it as I was more than satisfied from my viewing of the first episode of the new season of
Six Feet Under. I try not to look forward to most television but I make an exception for this one.. such a well done series.

Last night I received over 1,000 emails from some choad named "brad" letting me know that I had a voicemail message, or to not worry.. be happy. Guess it's time to reconfigure my email so it doesn't work as a catchall.. what a shame. Why's brad gotta ruin the internet?

This screwed with my brain enough to warrant a weekend post. In search of news about Soulwax I checked their
official site and was greeted with a crazy dot pattern. If you think it's nothing special, stare at it like it's one of those ridiculous Magic Eye things from 10 years ago.

After narrowly averting renting Eurotrip last night, I finally got around to seeing
21 Grams.. I recommend it. Great cast, pretty interesting introduction of characters that transitions into the actual storyline, and a decent concept - kind of that whole hand of fate thing. Wasn't the best thing I've ever seen, but it was enjoyable.

Hale Links : Volume 5 (some great stuff in here)
Map of Springfield - I don't even want to think about the amount of time spent watching The Simpsons in order to gather this amount of information (though some of it has to be made up).
OGI Graphics - really cool portfolio of works. I am not so much a fan of the anime style girls (though they are more tasteful than most) but the paintings in the earlier portion of his works are really nice.
Bush / Zombie Reagan in `04. Maybe we can sell more guns to Iraq and then invade them all within one term!
Mix CD Contest - send a mix and win some of those ridiculous cases from
Jewelboxing.
And finally..
this is one of the most bizarre things I've seen on the web.. just the fact that it exists is mind blowing. Read that intro and you'll understand.

Holga results from Jeremy Davis.. what's up with being able to see the Kodak paper on the film?! Amazing.

Random links from my friend Grant:
Charlotte Hatherley - the girl from ASH apparently has a solo disc.. might be a little too pop for my taste, but still interesting. Site (and packaging) by the tasty
I Love Dust.
Siren Disc has the new
Supergrass Best Of disc, Kiss of Life single, and some sort of Canadian DVD.. does this mean the US will actually see it on our shelves?
eBay Auction for
The Features debut album
Exhibit A. One would assume if you're hardcore enough to order a promo from a UK eBay seller, you'll probably buy the real deal once it's released.
Rivers Cuomo on MySpace (twice apparently) and he's posting songs/demos. This is definetly a Grant link, as I gave up on Weezer awhile ago.

Alright.. time for another poll of sorts. What are your favorite music videos? Specifically I'm looking to hear about somewhat recent videos... personally faves for me are Queens of the Stone Age -
Go With The Flow or The Faint -
Agenda Suicide. The new
N.E.R.D. video has really cool performance shots, but I'm not so into the storyline portion of it. The Polyphonic Spree video for
Light & Day looks pretty much perfect for them - very cheery and "trippy" - not a great word but a perfect description for them. So, what are your picks?

Web Design comparison:
Asterik Studio vs
Ulterius Media (screen grab
here in case you miss it). What's up with blatant web design rips? So weak.
UPDATE - the rip is gone.. nice to know that a little manpower, some email, and probably some legal threats can get people to take down their blatant rips.

I don't know why, but I can't make myself buy music from
iTunes. Want the exclusive
Franz Ferdinand track? The Killers
EP? Sure.. but I still somehow feel gypped that I'm not actually getting anything physical. Sure I could burn the songs onto CD but that's just not the same (my handwriting just doesn't look "official"). Does anyone else have this problem or am I like a vinyl enthusiast unwilling to embrace the future of music?

If you didn't know, there has been a redesign at
Skylab - now fully CSS / XHTML powered. That whole arena of design is something I need to explore more, I'm just not honed up enough on the whole relative positioning thing. Oh, and keep an eye on the Skylab "Internet Travel Log" - lots of links there that might slip past ya if you aren't paying attention.

Hale links : Volume 4
House Printing Technology - and they mean that literally. New robots are being developed that will print out concrete like toothpaste for future construction jobs.
Coded Covers from
Kempa: Some interesting hidden codes in album art.. the New Order color wheel is particularly interesting.
Biometric DRM - buy a song, scan your thumbprint, listen! It's just that easy. Is this a bit excessive? I don't wanna have to start buying thumbs off the black market to hear the latest downloads..
Pringle Printing - I kind of don't believe this is real but supposedly Pringles has developed a way to print images / text onto their potato crisps (without harm to the person eating them one would assume). Do I really want ads on my food? The answer is an energetic yes! Brings a whole new meaning to being a good "consumer." har har har har.
