Some of the hardest photography to pull off, in my opinion, is that of people. Even if you aren't capturing a moment and you're just simply snapping a well composed shot of someone's noggin you're up for some difficulty. Check out the
ABSNTR/ BCKN - Portraits - definetly some gems in there, even though I have no idea who any of the people are. (Also, check the crazy series of Max over at
Jon's site.. Eraserhead? What?)

Heard lots of chatter about
Garden State recently. The trailer really provides little insight into the actual plot of the film (which is good actually), but the counterpoint of plane crashing mixed with solemn facial expression of acceptance is enough to peak my interest.

I'm looking for a
deal on an enormous harddrive. If anyone has any insight, let me know. They have Easter weekend sales, right?

While browsing through the halfway decent
MTV U Playlist (work related, but a distraction nonetheless) I came across the Franz Ferdinand
video for "Take Me Out." Aside from not really being a fan of the band and feeling like the song dragged on for a bit too long, I thought the video was enjoyable. Lots to watch and well directed.

Apparently John Kerry wants
faster internet.. a move that could easily gain him the support of alot of the technologically savvy youth vote.

I'd like to keep my cool about the
Spider-Man 2 trailer but it actually looks pretty great. Some of the CG stuff on Spidey himself seems a bit too cartoony - but I'm pretty harsh about that on average. Will definetly be an enjoyable, entertaining, film.

You'd think a
Skateboarding Bulldog would be something lame your uninformed co-worker might share with you.. but no.. it is a great testament to what a dog can accomplish on a skateboard when trained properly.

I read an excerpt on
Coolfer, and
Nick had it linked so I read the whole
When the Edge Moved to the Middle article written by Thurston Moore regarding Kurt Cobain's influence and overall legacy. Some very intelligent insight into why Nirvana worked, and why it wasn't just their sound that made it happen.

It's great when you haven't seen a site for awhile and someone says "hey, you seen ___ in awhile?" and you think.. "Actually, no.. I haven't." Then you go and it's been completely revamped and there's a ton of new stuff to look at.

Everyone should read
this article about
Issey Miyake and his revolutionary new take on fashion. I understand that this may not fall into a nerdy enough category for alot of you, but the man's
designs are pretty intriguing to begin with.. and to think that someone is actually reinventing the way things are done (and doing it effectively) is pretty remarkable. Or whatever.. I found it interesting.

Check the art projects of
D. Tobias Wong... lots of modern goods to view. Occasionally it's a bit
too artsy for me.. but mostly they hit
the spot just right. Link via
Jeremy (whom I suspect has a bunch more goods to share, I just haven't browsed them all yet).

Dolan sent me a link to
Subservient Chicken and quickly signed off. Good thing too, because I can't figure out what the hell this is all about (Burger King sanctioned super creepy chicken costume webcam flash app.. bizarre).

Quick thanks to
Arlo and
Silent Uproar for informing me of
Beauty Pill. I had to order the disc online but I'm alright with that.. $10 is quite affordable for such an enjoyable listen.

Wha?
JewelEye? No, it has nothing to do with Miss Intuition herself.. this is all about
body modification to your eyeball. Never saw that one coming...

So the teaser trailer for
Kill Bill Vol. 2 is available on the web, as well as the real deal
trailer. But much like Vol. 1, I'd rather not watch them. I've got faith that Tarantino will keep my attention and I'd rather not spoil anything about the movie if I can. Ignorance
is bliss.

I'd say that
AIR earns a nice solid B+ from me in terms of show quality. The mix wasn't all that great, the setlist was mostly
Talkie Walkie (though there were lots of "hits" throughout), and the performance didn't really outshine the albums. I will agree with
Mason that the encore's really made the show - definetly a good way to go out.

Actually, I wouldn't be a very good "web host" if I didn't leave ya with some treats before heading out (plus my ride is late, so I can go through my inbox).
-
John Frusciante B-Sides - actually a whole internet only record and the songs from the Vincent Gallo
Brown Bunny film. At the very least download "Falling."
Real Life Transformer - I didn't get a chance to read or view all of the stuff on this page, but it looks super geeky so it might be good.
You can download "Move Away" from the forthcoming
Broken Spindles disc - right
here.
Crazy t-shirts from
Crush Trade. Lots of detail... wonder if they do the actual printing...
Okay, I think that's it.. I also got the
Prelinger Archives sent to me, but since I've not browsed it, I'm not sure I can give it the official yewknee.com seal of approval™
Keep sending in links.. much appreciated.

No more browsing for me today.. I am off to Atlanta to see
AIR. I hate that I have to sit in the car for 8 hours (there and back) to see a band that I enjoy, but hopefully it will be worth it. Any Atlanta
residents in attendance be sure to say hello.
