The new Modest Mouse
video is kinda creepy in a way, but the art direction is well done. Lots of layers.

The new season of
Invicid shirts are great - but my favorite one is $42! And it's not even that much printed material. If that "Beatbox Leisure Shirt" is the American Apparel
2412 I can understand, as they are expensive.. even in bulk. The rest of the line is certainly worthy of a peek as well.

Note to self: Read
this article about Shepard Fairey and "The Commodification of Street Art." Too much work to do right now...

Check out the

While I'm sure most people will say that iTunes is their preferred method for ripping CD's, I have always had a special place in my heart for
Audiograbber. And up until recently, it's been shareware.. no freeware, but apparently that has changed and now anyone can get it for free. I think it's a nice program and suggest it for those of you who aren't down with the iTunes method of ripping and wish to have a bit more flexibility in what codec you want to use, what bitrates you are interested in using, and what file naming scheme to go with (instead of the forced iTunes default).

Guess what? I failed the
Third Grade. Honestly I'm not sure that this is really the best gauge of intelligence, but then again.. I failed, so what do I know?

The $20 deal for the new
Modest Mouse disc and the
bootleg isn't a bad deal. Now that I've ordered I just realized that
Truth Flies will probably have some insane deal that will put the Epic one to shame.. but oh well, that's how it goes.

Internet people, don't enter
this contest because I'd rather win a copy of Photoshop CS for myself.. thank you.

Dear
Sleepy Jackson... please investigate media players with embeded sound. Your "sleepy jackson radio" pop-up that then also pop-ups new media player windows is rather annoying.. fortunately your music is soothing and calms me down. But seriously... look into it.

Arlo has been making some nice remarks about the "War on Iraq" and links to articles like
this that report more people saying Bush based the invasion on lies. Where the hell were these people
before he went in? Oh, and for the record - yesterday, when all of the news stations were covering the 9/11 investigation hearings - Fox news made a point to just cover the Scott Peterson case.. wouldn't wanna make the Bushites look bad.

Queens of the Stone Age and
Quasi seem to the be music of choice for
us while screenprinting... last night
Apollo Up and
Failure made it into the rotation but I was wondering what everyone thought was good work music? I've known alot of people that enjoy downtempo electronic music, as it hangs out in the background but I prefer the more up front driving rock.. helps to keep the pace of things going. So what is in your rotation?

Don't you hate it when you have big plans for a day and it ends up that nothing goes quite right? I had hoped to take off the first part of the day from work, get some screenprinting done, and then head in to work on some other projects. Turns out that I spent about 9 hours trying to get the screenprinting setup functioning properly (i.e. actually burning screens that are worth printing) and had to end up buying
this printer because the Canon I have just wasn't cutting it in terms of darkness for the transparencies. I suppose it works out in the end because
we ended up churning out a ton of really great looking shirts for
Aireline, we just weren't able to make it to their show to deliver them (sorry bout that).
Anyway, that explains my extreme lack of presence on the web - hopefully when the shirts are completely done everyone will be pleased and it will all have been worth it.

So what if
Engadget or
Gizmodo covered highly designed new products that didn't neccasarily have to do with technology (cellphones, laptops, etc) but more to do with architecture, contemporary design of all things (
zipper lights,
Ready Made bookshelves,
Waterblades)? Well, the answer to that question is
MoCoLoco. So many great things to browse.

Ryan sparks the question - what are you reading? He recommends
Haruki Murakami... though I am lazily reading
Kingdom of Fear by Hunter S. Thompson - which ends up being like hearing insane stories from a guy who's lived quite the life (which he has).

The newly relaunched .com version of
Coolfer has an
article about how Sony is attempting to pact with McDonalds for their upcoming download service. Add that to the new Starbucks service, the inevitable service from Virgin Records, iTunes, Napster, and the insane slew of other services and you're left with a ton of choices that really don't do anything for the consumer. It seems to me that when illegal peer-to-peer downloading was at it's height in the media there was one service that people pointed the finger at (Napster), and then it was Kazaa (still is). Frequently you'd see "other services" mentioned, but the majority of downloaders want one service, just one. Why can't these companies come together and make the most badass service possible?

Many thanks to
Nazdar Inks and the City of Nashville for having
one place to get screenprinting inks, and when they are sold out.. you're just S.O.L. I could blame myself for not investigating the ink situation earlier.. but I prefer to blame the city.

It's rare that on the weekends I get a chance to really browse the web and find anything worth viewing.. fortunately,
Jamie sent me several links worth my time.
Hellobase - nice silk screens, good layout, worthy links.
Buro Destruct - Artwork for Pop Stars. Archive of alot (if not all) the Buro Destruct work.. some misses, but alot of great works.
Coolest Shop - as the name implies, there is loads of cool stuff here.. great limited edition prints from Shepard Fairey, a pleathora of clothing, and random toys if you're into it. However, being the coolest shop on earth apparently does not mean having a website layout that is the least bit engaging. Content over presentation I suppose.

Just got home from seeing
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind and I'm very pleased. The Michel Gondry / Charlie Kaufman collaboration this time around is excellent. The Gondry style special effects were especially pleasing.. I highly recommend this one - and am quite happy that this one did not disappoint.

Rarely do I see enough of the web on the weekend to find something worthy of blogging, but
this poster for the upcoming Dolorous Canter show was too good to not share. Love it.
