New
Blinker The Star website up for your browsing pleasure. Apparently the new album,
Still In Rome, will be released Oct. 28th on Maplenationwide - though I wonder if the nation in reference is Canada or the US. Amazingly enough, there are actual samples of the new album and two outtakes (one of which, "Flex Your Little Claws", is an 8 minute shoegazer style drone out.. in a good way). The new album is definetly a departure from
August Everywhere.. which kinda sucks in a way.. but hopefully the next album will become more of a fusion of the gradiose orchestrated pop of
AE and the straightforward rock style of
Still in Rome.

If anyone is interested in a
Canon S9000 printer, and/or a
Lacie 22" CRT - drop me a note and let me know what you're willing to pay for such a thing. Both are, obviously, used but in great working condition (not refurbished.. used). I needa get a printer that can print transparencies darker than the S9000 is willing to output.. maybe one of
these would do it....

Not being a Californian, the whole recall debate has been interesting to watch - but not anything that's going to directly affect me.
This article is one of the best anti-Arnold rants I've read yet.. especially with a quote like this:
We are, in fact, inviting a seething and pro-corporate cadre of inbred GOP Arnie advisers not seen since, well, since the Rove/Cheney/Rummy team of war-happy corporate whoreslugs.

This
little camera is kinda neat, kinda useless. But the site is a great example of why the "brushed metal" look should not become anymore popularized than it is (way to go Apple).

Dear
Queens Of The Stone Age,
You did a great job with
Songs For The Deaf.. it's been one of my favorite discs for the past year. However, please take note that the whole "radio station in the desert" concept that "ties" the whole thing together gets reaaaally old after you've heard it once or twice. Thanks.

It appears that Quasi has their own
official site now. The "Mystery Bag" of ramblings was quite compelling, though very very stream of conciousness.. kind of refreshing. Not the hottest design ever, but the drawings tie in with the album art and since it's actually maintained by the band it automatically reaches a new level of "interesting."

This interview from Rolling Stone between Jason Lytle (Grandaddy) and Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals) is interesting and pretty funny.. especially the last part about the McDonalds Adult Happy Meal.

A big pat on the back to the RIAA and the major labels for finally
thinking outside the box. If ya can't bust people based on copyright infringement, go for the porn angle! You gotta give them a little credit for trying something other than suing individuals.

So I'm highly contemplating switching to an LCD monitor (maybe
this one if I get my act in gear) but I wonder what the heck I should do with my
old CRT? You can buy the refurbished version of the monitor for super cheap, so noone's going to buy it for an amount that I find appropriate.. but I can't really let it go for nothing either. Suggestions?

The new
Deluxe site is pretty engaging. I like the movement between sections and the subtle interactions for scrolling through news, etc. However, I wish the actual works weren't pop-ups.. but maybe that's just me. Overall.. nice site, very fluid. Worth spending a few minutes on.

Okay, can someone explain why
this isn't front page news?
CNN is reporting that WMD's
still haven't been found in Iraq, but North Korea is blatantly openly stating that they are developing nuclear arms. The AP article even suggests that they may make enough that they can sell some off to the highest bidder. For all the "terrorist threat" rhetoric that gets tossed around, why the hell isn't this throwing up a Turqoise alert?

There is an increasing decline in the amount of
Southerners. Bout time! Maybe soon that means phrases like "persons of color" can be phased out entirely. Unfortunately, I don't think that means raging ignorance will see a timely death anytime soon.. but it's the first step.

Encino Man.

The almighty return of
catchdubsdotcom has occured. The web was kind of running at 80% without catchdubs, so it's good that it's back. Hopefully the new host will prevent any sort of future excessive use of bandwidth.

Many good leads provided to me for a new LCD display.. most recent one is
Formac Electronic Inc.. Total ripoff of the Apple display style, but that's good.. because it's not Apple, so it's cheaper. A definite consideration.
