So
this is just an out of control joke, isn't it? I guess you really can declare any random day a "national ___ day" and it will eventually catch on.

Pet Peeve #32: Please do not assume that since my name is Michael that I probably go by "Mike." Time and time again I have people shorten my name for whatever reason.. I'm not sure why. My name is not Mike, I do not go by Mike, and would appreciate you not assuming so.
Exceptions to this rule include mildly humorous situations like
Mike calling me and saying "Hey Mike, it's Mike." Or if
Mike insisted on calling me Mike I'd let it slide, cause hey.. I went ahead and assumed I could call him Buzzard.

The lack of posts today is a result of the 4th day in a row that I've been at work for 10+ hours. Not that I'm complaining, I'm happy we have work, but with such a workload - I can't really browse the web for entertainment.
On a side note, I went to go buy some CD's tonight to wrap my day up in a nice healthy consumer type of way and couldn't bring myself to buy anything. As I mentioned before, there are several discs that I want but I just can't spend the money at Tower when I know I can order it online (or at
Grimeys) for alot less. And where the hell am I supposed to get the
Quasi bonus disc?!
Touch & Go won't answer their phone or call me back...

It's always weird when a song or video becomes all to relevant based on current events. For example, the new
REM video - which is already relevant due to it's mockery of inundating news channels, but the whole hurricane angle on it makes it a bit creepier with that whole
Isabel hurricane putting it's smack down. Link via

Just heard
The Vines cover of 'Miss Jackson' (you know, that
Outkast song).. and it was actually enjoyable. Thought you might want to know, even though it's probably been out for a long time.

Have you seen
Kuildoosh yet? While it definetly has it's own style and flair, I can't help but think it's reminescent of this giant conglomeration of styles including the styles of
Presstube,
Galaxy M79, and maybe even some
Dalek. I mostly feel that way based on
this series.. there's so much other stuff to view there I haven't taken it all in quite yet.

This article is bizarre. It's all about the impending threat of Hurrican Isabel but the accompanying photo is of really clear skies and a sign that says "Evac. Rout 70-West." Definetly a strange dichotomy. So all you North Carolina folk go and hole yourself up in the storm shelter.. it's
coming your way.

It appears that
Run Ronnie Run! is out on DVD now.. kinda sad to see that it bypassed the theatres completely, but at least it saved
Bob and David from having to explain themselves over and over as to why it's not really
their film... silly movie execs and their incessant dumbing down.

Apparently there is a theory that
how you sleep reveals a little something about your personality. I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing but I fall into the small percentage (6.5%) of people who enjoy the "freefall" style - I guess I'm "brash and gregarious."

I am severly slacking in terms of consuming musical goods. I've yet to obtain the new
Quasi because I'm hell bent on getting that Live bonus disc, the new
Perfect Circle and
IMA Robot are out. So is the new
Mates of State, and that
Lost In Translation soundtrack is apparently available now (thanks Rocco).. I must fulfill my role as a productive and active consumer!

New Apple
Keyboard and Mouse and new
Powerbook designs (slightly). I can only assume this means Apple is doing alright if they keep churning out new models of their goods.

Completely rehauled site for design company extraordinaire
Pixelgrazer. Finally you can take a look at their immense portfolio in an easy to navigate setting. Lots of web design, photography, fine art illustration, and random other goods. Thumbs up Pixelgrazer.. thumbs up.

Suggested fix for
Fixing your PS2. I'm sure Sony would frown upon opening up your device or even fixing it at all.. because then why would you buy a PS3? Ours here at the
office has pretty much died.. so hopefully this fix will work. Link via

Looks like Dubya has taken things to a
whole new level. Best part of the fake bill is that it's filled with super subtle anti-GW details. Quite clever.

Kind of a catch 22 with
this lawsuit. Apple isn't allowed to make music related items because of a deal with The Beatles Apple Corps. (they've already shelled out $50 million for breach of contract on several occasions) - but because they DID break the contract again and made a wildly successful product and piece of software they probably have the money to pay off the settlement. I guess ole Steve Jobs goes for that whole "better to ask (pay) for forgiveness, than for permission."
