Microsoft plans to release
Windows XP 64-Bit in 2003. I'm all for an OS that takes advantage of the new processors, but will any of the actual programs be ready for the upgrade? Photoshop 64-bit? Flash MX-64? Having an OS is great and all, but ya gotta have the other goods.

Cool list of 1983 gadgets over at
Gizmodo today. Love that 28 ounce cellphone and the Digital Camera that looks like a secret government nautical experiment.

Taken with a large grain of salt (kind of like Nashville; "The Great Salt Lick".. look it up).. but check out
this article regarding the forthcoming Apple G5's - that supposedly bring the power with the 64-bit processor. The article claims that the new cases will lack the handles? How can this be true.. no Apple.. no.

I have little interest in seeing Finding Nemo, but it looks like
The Incredibles looks like it could be entertaining. And
Nick says it's a collab with the
Iron Giant director. Bonus.

Woah,
Madrid launched his new site. He gave me a sneak peek but apparently he was good to go. Noice. I like that everything is on one page and has some nifty quick Flash transitions between content.

Anyone know of any good
digital cameras that claim super vivid coloring? I'd love to find some sort of digital LOMO equivalent.

Once again my theory is proved true - Cute and Creepy are an excellent mix. Not that anyone ever doubted me, but check out
Tara McPherson for the latest evidence - the Dismemberment Plan poster especially proves it. Link via

Notes about movies / pilots I viewed this weekend:
Action Family - Chris Elliot's pilot show that splits screentime of action show with over the top sitcom. Not half bad, but Elliot's humor isn't easy to take and isn't for everyone. Mostly funny that it exists, not how it was written.
Super Nerds - with Brian Posehn and Patton Oswalt running a comicbook store being..well.. Supernerds. Arguments over the DC universe merging with Marvel, Star Trek captain bookends, the works. I think with a little tweaking to the writing this could have actually been a decent show - but since it would only appeal to such a small audience I doubt it would ever make it. Worth a download.
The Italian Job - good caper movie, great cast. Fairly predictable overall but it numbed my brain in a good way for a little bit.
Spun - Apparently someone saw Requiem For A Dream and decided it would make for an even better movie if every third shot was something really close up and moving fast. This whole film is a terrible ripoff. Despite what you may think about the potential of the cast, it fails. Just.. ugh.. I don't think it's the worst thing ever, and certainly might be a decent rental but Requiem For A Dream is way more powerful, original, and well done.
