snails

posted May 13, 2003 #

Bryan posted a new site for his band Man In Gray. Check out the textures and go see him play the geetar.. even if it's just to watch his hair flop around. Oh yea, I drew the snail that's on the site after some weird comment Bryan made to me... hopefully he'll credit that at some point.. sheesh.

Bored? Like the idea of street art stylings on postal mailers? Then you need to me Going Postal - a website of about 1,000 postal mailers with different art on each one. Should consume alot of your day and hey, you're bound to see something enjoyable.

jesus hates your website

I remember seeing Tim Robbins wear one of these shirts on Real Time With Bill Mahr (the What Would Jesus Bomb? style) but the vacation style design with "Iraq", "Saudi Arabia", or "North Korea" are even better.

I have a feeling that I'm going to forget to watch this. Sweeps Week really creates some weird promotional ideas, but it's safe to say some of them work.

space nav

posted May 13, 2003 #

The space navigation on that VW site is intense - so much content, you'd never see it all. Definetly cool but maybe a tiny bit impractical. But that's not the point.. once you get into the content a little bit hit back on your browser, and it returns to the previous item.. in flash! I know this can be done in Flash MX but it's still rare to see, very nice touch. I'm assuming from the meta tags it was done by Tribal DDB, kudos to them.

radiohead video

New Radiohead video right here for "There, There" the first single off of Hail To The Thief. Did Michael Gondry direct this? Is this a strange sequel to Bjork's Human Behaviour video?

Hey look at that, I didn't post crap today. Maybe more tomorrow... once we get this whole internet connection thing sorted out.

the state DVD

Rad, The State is coming to DVD. Not that I loved everything they did, but will be nice to revisit some of the sketches in high-definition, instead of the crappy real media files I have.

weekend ponderings

posted May 11, 2003 #

Couple weekend ponderings for your perusement:

· The music I keep hearing in the commercials for Trigger Happy TV sounds like a blatant ripoff of Elastica and maybe mixed with a little Blur. Anyone else hear this?

· Not that I care, but what the hell happened to Jewel? The fact that her new video is all "tongue-in-cheek" satire on the pop genre seems like piss poor cover for her new look (Jewel or Gwen Stefani? you decide). Or maybe it's just an all too clever way of getting her some publicity because noone cares about her poetry books.. either way, she's alienating her fanbase and going fast against the "image" (aka personality) she seemed to have developed for herself over the past 5+ years. Bothersome.

· On a personal note, I think I've gone full-bore into adulthood. I enjoyed the result, and the process, of giving my house a good spring cleaning. Man, who'd a thunk I'd be adverse to dust someday?

· Current musical selections for you to discover: +/- - find the song "Crestfallen".. that's my current jam, No Knife -get "The Red Bedroom" or "Fletchette" mmm, Aireline - the album sounds better than I could have thought.. get "Legionnaire" or "Traveling Through Dangerous Scenery", Monochrome - "Angelfire" is great.. I wish I could find more that wasn't on vinyl (you can hear the song here).

That is all... hopefully we'll have the Internet back at work tomorrow.

reality - not realty

Best site of the day: Reality Hacking. Take a look at the "projects realised" but start at the bottom, makes the more recent projects that much more enjoyable.

GLAMORE

posted May 9, 2003 #

Alright, the handmade shirts at Glamore Americana are nice - cool designs, excellent details on the shirts, nice colors. But the ad's in the "subvertising" section really float my boat... excellent usage of snackcake and cigarette butt.

Gigantic

Wonder when Gigantic is going to make it to DVD? The new trailer is quite entertaining and intriguing - especially the superfan at the end crying her heart out.

I meant to log this yesterday but my connection was so slow that I couldn't browse any of the pieces. Loads of new stencils from Invisible Made Visible. Nice variety of styles... #41 has a ridiculous crest on it.
