Federal LA judge rules that file-swapping tools are
legal. He equates them to the same standard as a VCR or copy machine - "both of which can be and are used to infringe copyrights." Interesting development for sure.

Never before have I received a review quite like
this. Oriana rules and I'm happy I get to help her out, though I wish I was a bit quicker with her requests than I am. Anyway, check her out.. very intelligent writings - broaden those horizons.

Pop-up ads all blow - we can agree on that. But ad's like
this one posing as an "Internet Security Advisor" really bother me the most. Some poor schmuck is going to get tricked into thinking that's real...

San Francisco was great but it's always good to come home for a bit. Much love to
Arlo,
Buzzard, and
Jessey - who proved to be great partners in crime for the trip. Not that there was any crime involved, but it was a good time.

You know... I saw
this the other day and enjoyed it.. now there it appears that there are a
ton of other auctions going on that I somehow missed (or maybe they are new). Mostly graffiti panels - from the likes of Shepard Fairey, Banksy, and 123 Klan.

Oh yea,
Jesse told me about
Fire - a chat application for the Mac that's open-source and acts like the PC's
Trillian. Oh, and so far it's way cooler than iChat or AIM (the programs).

Kicking it in San Francisco. The downtown area is really bustling and has some of the nicest architecture I've seen in a long while. Wish I'd had my camera on me. Mostly I've been chilling at
KNI SF working on some projects, and discovering the absolutely perfect distraction that is known as
Friendster.

Lots more left to browse but I'm off to the airport and then onward to San Francisco. Expect sparse updates in that time, as browsing may be down to a minimum. Be back Saturday. enjoi.

Check the bizarre designs over in the
Spymac Gallery. I've not seen anything that I think would be cool to see in real life, but it's amusing to see what people think they want. Link via

Mad quicktime goodness.
New Western State - on Geoff McFetridge, who sports one hell of a dope moustache (I know
some people that could give him a run for his money). Three new
MK12 pieces from the DIK Semi-Permanent Conference.

Nader running 2004?
Probably so - but does it just ensure that Republicans will take the ticket? Maybe Bush won't run again, that'd just be convienent for everyone (in the world). Link via

Right when I was about the question the future of
Computerlove they go ahead and beat me to the punch. 39 days until a full re-launch and it looks like the site will be providing "innovative tools to publish rich-media exhibitions and portfolios." Whatever that means, might be interesting.

Never let it be said that I don't make at least a few attempts to show both sides of the story. While I'll often talk about my affinity for
Michael Moore, it is important to see what
other people are saying. To see what other people are
trying to do. Basically
these articles go through
Bowling For Columbine and point out some glaring mis-truths.
And while I'm sure
Brian will be glued to the screen reading these articles and extolling just how justified his hate for the man is, I must make the point that regardless of the cold hard facts behind
Bowling, the point being made is that fear and violence are a huge problem in this country. Moore may have lost some respect in my book (though, if I just blindly believed him, why should I blindly believe these counter-points?) but I still think his underlying point is valid.

I enjoyed reading
this article but I suspect that the majority of people in this country probably feel that suspected terrorists "deserve" any punishment, regardless of it breaking the rules of the Geneva Convention. And it's that mindset that helps to provoke why we aren't exactly the most loved country.

Is this
a joke? I mean.. the CNN clip sounds like someone added audio in with a free crappy microphone.. there's just no debate there of tampering. That's just ridiculous.
