Man, who knew
Ben Affleck would murder his pregnant wife and skip town. Okay, so it's not him but damn if they don't look alike.

Apparently a bunch of places are saying that
Apple will make an announcement next week "that will be music to your ears." Alot of speculation as to that referring to a new iPod model, possibly a file-sharing service created by Apple, or maybe even some sort of new unknown peripheral.

Schweet variety of works over at
Rexbox. The "popsicle" piece really gets me but I love the sketchier work too.

Check this
transcript of
Tim Robbins speaking to the National Press Club. He's pretty much making the call for conceptual politics and reporters - politicians who speak out and fight for the views of the people they represent, and reporters that question everything, instead of just rolling out press releases from govt. agencies. Good read.

I, unfortunately, saw a preview for
The Real Cancun on TV the other day.. this has to be one of the worst idea's I've seen implemented in a long time. Isn't this like mass distributed softcore pornography? Reality TV has saturated the marketplace in the realm of television, lets hope it doesn't infest the movie market (not that there are loads of great movies currently, but anything with a script is a step above reality tv).

I'm working on a review for a
Dim Mak Records sampler - and checked out their site for some background information. The history and mindset of the label can be read
here... incredible stuff to me. "DIY and dilettantism are not synonymous." Oh, and they've worked with/for some rather great bands - judging from this sampler.

Mailbag:
CBC Radio 3 - online zine (and radio station apparently - according to it's affiliation with
CBC), nice photography and overall design.. cool music player.. loads of content and back issues. Even if you have no interest in reading it, it's worth poking around for a few minutes just to look at.

Takes a minute to get used to all the multiple logs and navigation over at
ordinary kids but it's worth it. Lots of interesting things to look though. The NY photos in the photo section are quite nice...

Hot technology:
Cassette MP3 Player - if the fwd / rwd buttons on your cassette deck work on the player, it's ingenius.
iTrip - logged it before, still have my reservations about it, but it's a cool idea to share your music for those people who don't have a line-in or cassette adapater.
iPod rip-off with a hella large screen.

these are good for "storage emergencies." And at $30 with a $30 mail-in rebate, it might be good to be prepared for whatever storage emergencies may arise.

Debate for the day: This
Honda commercial : Real or not?
This article fronts like it's real.. saying it took 606 takes and if something was a sixteenth of an inch off, it would be ruined. But that article is published by a entertainment publication... I have serious doubts about it, but either way, really smart.. really well done.

Building websites in your spare time (after you build websites all day at work) seems to make the projects stretch on ad infinitum. Fortunately, when the project is done it's pretty gratifying. I've worked with this band since my days at Spongebath Records, and I hope they feel like I'm doing more for them now than I did then. So check out the freshly launched site for
the Features and let me know what you think. I know it's not some off the wall Flash site, but I feel like it's a gigantic step up from they used to have as a site, will introduce new fans to the band in a more professional manner, and will reward the long time fans with loads of content. Oh, and big props to
Brian for giving me input all along the way and doing a fine job at actually procuring content for their site.
