I wanna draw like
this. Kinda sloppy, but so precise and detailed.

If you can somehow get past the enourmous, hideous, Bryce 3D background you can read a somewhat interesting
interview with Jordon Z from
Blinker The Star. Some interesting background information and his current status with Dreamworks (which appears to be nill). That background is worth checking out even if you're not going to read the interview..

Going to see a show with 3 bands that you aren't all that familiar with is risky business. Fortunately, it worked out well for me tonight.
Minus The Bear,
Engine Down and
Cursive were all quite enjoyable... definetly look into them more.
On a side note - I have a few grievances I'd like to share:
· If you feel the need to rock out and pump your fist to the music, that's cool.. but let go of your girlfriends waist beforehand.. noone wants to see you rock-air-hump her, especially her.
· Stop taking photo's with the flash on your camera unless you're right up front. The pictures are almost guaranteed to look bad and then your memory of the show is the back of some guys shirt. Don't waste your film, battery power, or the muscle power it makes me use because I have to keep blinking.
· When it starts pouring rain outside and the club starts to flood (yes, it happened), walk carefully.. slipping and falling (or grabbing for support as you fall) is no way to look anything but ridiculous. Water is slippery - remember that.
That is all.

I had a conversation with
Tom today about the future of the brick n' mortar stores of the music industry (Tower, Wherehouse, etc. etc.) and how their demise seems inevitable. Thanks to Best Buy and Wal-Mart's constant "loss-leaders" (you know those $7.99 - $9.99 CD's you can't resist?) it seems like the other stores just can't compete. That fact coupled with several other factors - including price fixing, radio conglomeration, and a slumping economy to name a few - has and will change the industry. But ya know what? I'm kind of looking forward to a change. I certainly enjoy having a robust CD collection but it's just not a wise expense to spend $17.99 on one disc - or $13.99 on an EP. It's not that the music isn't worth it, it's just a waste of money when you can buy it cheaper online. Sure you lose that sense of immediacy but that's what downloads are for! I'm not saying the future holds all great things, but it should, at the very least, hold some interesting developments.

Allow me to nerd out for a second: I just watched the new
Animatrix trailer and have to say this. Great animation style, cool effects, excellent integration of 3D with the 2D. However, the storyline, dialogue, and overall presentation were just a bit on the "super-corny" side of things. I suppose it's just a trailer, and The Matrix film itself is pretty darn corny, but I just find myself needing to complain. So there ya have it.

The new
Deftones cover is definetly "creepy" to say the least. The lines in it make me think that the actual cover will only be the top left panel, but that would be odd to show the whole thing as the cover. Just a speculation. Still creepy.

I enjoy the work of
Autumn Whitehurst. I think I've seen some of this stuff before, but the "Profiles" piece is fun to look at, and the others have a nice variety of styles. All good to me. I need to remember to go through
AltPick more often.. great work here.

Not sure what I think of the
Dumb and Dumberer trailer. The two kids seem to do a pretty good job of emulating Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels but it seems like such a charicature. Not that
Dumb & Dumber was some sort of influential or moving film - but it's kinda ridiculous to have another movie about a comic duo, and not use the comic duo.

DHKY is rather entertaining. Even if you don't look at the pieces themselves it's fun to see how they are going to animate into the scene.

Apparently someone other than Apple is going to start
manufacturing Mac's. This guys lawyers warned him not to infringe on anything close to Apple's current marketing scheme, patents on parts, etc. but he's planning on calling the thing the iBox - sounds like an "official" product at first glance. This guy may be in for a world of trouble.

Some cool t-shirts over at
Rabbit & Redtree. The statement about Jimmy Page couldn't be more true.. maybe if it said he looked like a Japanese woman it would be more true, but it's pretty dead on. Link snatched from

Ben showed me the site for
nogah shell - a site containing a bunch of really nice, and yet somehow creepy, photography. Alright, maybe creepy isn't the right word but there's definetly a vibe in alot of the featured pics that seems unposed and almost voyueristic - even though they have got to be posed.
