Even though we're at
war, work does not ceast. Been slammed at work.. hence the lack of posts. Hopefully things will settle back down to a normal pace by Friday. As
Jeremy reminds us.. take pleasure in the little things. Go download some mp3's, hug a loved one, clean your room.. just don't watch the TV News to much.. it's unhealthy.

Even if you hate the band, you should check out the video for System Of A Down's "BOOM." Directed by
Michael Moore it's chalk full of anti-war protestors.. you can watch it
here.

I'm not so sure that a
live-action Aeon Flux film would go over so well.. especially since the main selling point of Aeon Flux was it's animation style. It won't
translate well.. how's an actress gonna catch a fly in her eyelashes?

I Hear It Hurts has some nice stuff in the portfolio, a great logo, and a wallpaper that is "everything that other wallpapers aren't." I like the text that gets itself out of the way too.. nice.

Interesting
article from
Geoff regarding the other side of the war coin - and how the UN sanctions are actually killing more people every year than the Gulf War. Not something that I hear mentioned too often, but definetly good to have another perspective. Rarely do I agree with someone as often as I do with
Michael Moore. Honestly, I think his point would get across a little better to the powers that be if he wasn't
quite so brash.. but it's that attitude that makes his message appeal to the public masses. A wording that anyone can understand. His open letter to President Bush is incredibly poignant. He nails my sentiment about this situation.
If you hate all these war related blogs.. let me know, I'll try and tailor my content a bit more towards the design side of things.. but I don't think this is something that should be swept under the proverbial rug. But I understand that this log is as much for you as it is for me, so just let me know.

From
CNN.com:
Bush says intelligence leaves "no doubt" Iraq possesses "some of the most lethal weapons ever devised".
Doesn't he mean they possess some of the most lethal weapons ever devised that aren't accounted for? Cause I'd be willing to bet good money that the US has got a helluva lot bigger stockpile of weapons of mass destruction than.. umm.. anyone. The forthcoming War With Iraq really scares me more than anything.. its definetly unsettling to think of the human life that will be lost over oil (yea, it's an oil issue.. don't let that whole terrorist angle throw you), but the repurcussions of such actions seem far more dire. It's also unfortunate that my apprehensions about said forthcoming actions are probably still a minority here in the States...
sorry, random rant.

Lack of posts today? You betcha. I will pose this question to ya.. Doesn't it seem that alot of artists videos for their second single pertains to the album packaging more than the first? The new
Queens Of The Stone Age video features the pitchfork theme (and some hella badass rotoscoping.. incredible art direction.. but I digress (more on that later)), the new
Ben Kweller video starts with the same shot as the album cover... and I'm sure you can come up with more. Any suggestions? Any ideas regarding this phenomena?

Riding your bike around allows for a bit more free time for the photo taking than driving does. Here's an example: I rode my bike around downtown today and here are the
results. I focused mainly on graffiti and text but the train track shots were calling my name. Hopefully this whole bike riding / photo shoot thing will be a bit more regular. Oh, and the photo gallery script is a nice gift from Chris Heilmann with super special modifications by
Arlo (and a few by myself).

Always nice to have some
Mr. Show goods to tide ya over the weekend.. so here ya go (both Comedy Central links stolen from
Fugitive Alien). First is
David Cross on The Daily Show (no Jon Stewart.. but Stephen Colbert does pretty well).. and then some
Paul F Tompkins (who is quite entertaining on
Real Time.. do your best to catch the rerun).

Being slammed at work has it's perks and it's downfalls. Perk - being busy is cool. Downfall - can't stop and read articles like
this about the state of America by Brian Eno. But fortunately.. I can log it and remind myself to read it later. Link via

So, does File Trading
fund terrorism? You'd think the answer was a resounding no - but there are those who would disagree. Rep. Robert Wexler (D-Florida), and Rep. John Carter (R-Texas) are now on my "complete moron" list - as one suggests anti-piracy commercials like the weak anti-drug campaign going on now, and one suggests 33-months in prison for violating intellectual copyright (respectively). It's really uplifiting to see that Bush isn't the only irrational - over the top - politician working for his own ends more than the good of the people.

It's odd that
MTV.com actually has videos.. since it's rare to actually see one on the channel. Such as
Rainer Maria's "Ear Ring" (which I didn't like at first, but it sucked me in), Chevelle's video for "
Send the Pain Below" (which really should have had the snowboarding stuff cut.. I mean.. if you're gonna be goofy dramatic, go for it.. don't half-ass it), and even
Spoon is represented (who I get to see this month.. woo), though they mute him saying the word "pot" and "high" because that will prevent the youth of America from being aware that marijiuana is out there. Way to go MTV.

New version of the backwards navigationable (yea, it's a word.. trust me)
Reflektions. Excellent illustrations, fun word bouncing interaction, and the nav idea is still cool.

The two new
Eels tracks both have something catchy and nice going on in the chorus, but the verses kind of throw me for a loop. I am going to go out on a limb and say that I will probably enjoy this album more than
Souljacker but I'm doubting it will find it's way into regular rotation.

Another online "zine" for your consumption. This one is called
Delve and it's a pretty enjoyable combination of photography and illustration. After going through all three issues, I'd say that Issue 1 the contributors were finding their roots.. but with such evidence as
this, you know they came into their own for Issue 2. Definetly worth a peek. Link via the inbox via
