Today I received my
WOCA camera in the mail. It's alot like the
Holga only it has a glass lens. So, with medium format film in hand, hopefully I'll have some interesting results.

From the audible "welcome" on the main page, you know
Headbangers City is a littly wacky. The site itself is a sketchy "Where's Waldo" style of activity. Lots of downloads, information about clients they manage (Daft Punk, DJ Mehdi, etc). Be sure not to miss the subtle change to the mouse pointer - very effective.

More proof from my brother that NPR is the best radio you could listen to. Namely, this
Seuss-Like Look at the Iraq Issue - a conversation between Bush and Saddam as read to the tune of
Green Eggs and Ham. Great work from
Jay Klusky.

I always enjoy a good nerdy rant. Here's one from
Duncan about the
Star Wars DVD's and the fact that the original versions will never see a release on DVD. The rant pretty much says it all (except I'll never buy the "Super Special Edition" sets..).

Ahh, the site launch of a co-worker. Always a big deal. A super enthusiastic "Good jeaorb!" to Mr. Arlo Jamrog of
TwoBlocks for re-launching a super spiffy site. Nice quick animations, a flash / php powered guestbook, nice random link page.. oh, and it looks quite nice too (love the black line / nav breaking the space of the background photo). However, beyond all of that praise - the absolute best thing is the photo he used for his about page. I want a copy framed and sitting on my desk. If he weren't a great webdesigner I'd swear he was a pedophile (...but.. not really.. a.... pedophile).

Let's try something that takes a little reader participation. What are some of your favorite "winter music titles" ?? Personally I'd choose
The Dismemberment Plan's Emergency & I,
The Shins Oh, Inverted World, and
Grandaddy's The Sophtware Slump (as well as a few choice selections from the appropriately named
Signal to Snow Ratio EP). I'm not asking for downtrodden depressing selections, just albums that for some reason or another you associate with cold weather. So let's hear it..

Daniel sent me
this link to about a billion poster designers. Going through them all is going to take some time. Alot of it is quite a treat, and some of it's not really up my alley. Here's two so far that I find rather tasty:
Jianping He and
Seymour Chwast / Pushpin. Thank you Mr. Box - very pleasing.

While browsing these tasty photos by
bob kronbauer I discovered that I was more entranced by the random short stories accompanying each pic instead of the actual photo. Both are good, check them out.

I enjoy the collage-esque style on alot of the work at
worthlessart.com. The grafitti in the "worthless" section is rather nice but I enjoy the works in the "kife" section the most - nice consistent color usage, cool illustration style, and just neat to look at.

Woah, visit
Tri-Color Photographic and check out the opening animation. No, it's not some wacky intro, it's just a really smooth animation for the site (the more I watch it the more my opinion on it changes, so I'll keep it on the positive side for now). That is all.

So there's a free
Dredg DVD being given away at this years
Sno Core. But guess what, no TN dates (no dates in the Southeast at all actually). So all you loyal website readers goto the show, enjoy Dredg and
Sparta (and
Glassjaw if you must) and then get me a DVD. Thanks.

The Michael Jackson documentary on ABC last night was incredible. It was the most incredible train wreck of a program I've ever witnessed. I felt bad, but could not look away. Apparently he's a
bit pissed about the whole thing (understandably, I don't think he has the cognitive capacity to be a child abuser). If you can catch a rerun, do it as a favor to yourself. You'll feel so much more balanced and confident about your path in life in comparison to the wackiness of Jackson.

Wanna hear a bad idea?
Forehead advertising. Allowing a company to pay you $6.95 an hour to have logo's semi-permanently tattooed on your forehead is not beneficial to you, or the company. Seeing a logo on someone's head does not spark instant interest in said company or product. And $6.95?? That's just ridiculous.

Watch man vs. machine in a
game of chess. World renowned chess player Kasparov facing off against Deep Junior - the world's greatest chess playing computer. It's been done before, but the future of mankind rests on the outcome of this match - who will rule the future, man or machine? Not really.. just a geeky chess match with some money at stake.

It's no surprise that the recently launched
Cuban Council site is quite nice. Great layout, simple portfolio that showcases the great work, and the best pixel animaton for "no images available" (try the Newstoday portfolio entry).

Thank you
Nick for the link to
this. Dr. Dre with Burt Bacharach is destined for greatness. Maybe they'll both team up for cameo's in a new Austin Powers film...
