Anyone who thinks Canadians are better than Americans obviously hasn't seen
this page - video stills of people rioting at the cancelled G&R concert in Vancouver.
Party 20 looks especially angry.. but ya just gotta download some of the video segments. Makes it that much more enjoyable. Link via the ever entertaining
Nick Catchdubs (had to steal this one).

I'm sure this should be reserved for
John's site, but I have to share a few links he gave me earlier today. But first- go check his
site, and read the entry regarding the quote from Herman Goering. Okay, links:
Political Cartoon,
Political Flash Cartoon that's maybe a little too true. So many props to him for IMing me some good stuff - but he really deserves the credit.

Check out
A Medicine For Apathy, an open-source Flash magazine. Some cool experiments and such that you can actually download and figure out how they work.

Everyone circle April 22nd on your calendars as the day to head to the video store and pick up
Punch Drunk Love and
Bowling For Columbine. And
here's a really long list you can browse through of more upcoming releases...

It appears that
BCKN is posting more than just a daily photo - today he's got a nice set of "Winter Lake Diptychs." The snow and ice looks strangely like fish scales to me at times.

And speaking of CD purchasing.. I really wanted to pick up
The Glow, Pt 2 by
The Microphones but Tower didn't even have a spot for them. Weak to say the least. It made me think of
this article from the CMT website (that I randomly came across, promise) that pretty much says what every other article about "the industry" says with the exception that it says record buyers are punished for shopping at Tower (and it's ilk) because they don't have the prices - just the deep and wide catalog. But they
don't have the deep and wide catalog, OR the loss-leader prices.. thank goodness for
e-commerce. Quite a rant, eh?

I picked up the
Zwan CD last night for an astounding $18 dollars but didn't feel too ripped off because I got an additional 40-minute bonus DVD, some stickers, and packaging from
Champion Graphics (aka Geoff McFetridge). For some reason I'm a sucker for the simplified, super thick lined, illustrator work. Definetly helps push the idea that Zwan is a heckuva lot happier band than Smashing Pumpkins were in their final days (meaning Melon Collie straight on through Machina I and II).

So cheesy it's worth mentioning is the official site for
Shanghai Knights. The navigation is pretty entertaining and if you're careful, you may see a "browser shake" javascript in action that's actually used appropriately. But, to reiterate my initial point, it is cheesy (but fun).

Get yourself some

Damn you Steve Jobs and your temptingly sweet
Cinema Display, now for only $1999! The new
20" LCD is nice as well, and I'm not sure 3" is worth an additional $800.

Has anyone else seen the hype around the band
The Music? I've read a few blurbs here and there that say such inane things as "possibly the most important band to come out of the UK." But they are a young Oasis - so what's the deal? They didn't write "Wonderwall" that's for sure!

Okay,
Nino just sent me one of the craziest commercial sites I've seen in awhile. Check out
Nike Skateboarding. Be sure to watch the entire bizarre intro to get the full taste of what I'm talking about. Beyond the intro it's not THAT crazy of a site, it's just interspersed with some insanity between sections but man oh man.. how nutty that insanity is! Oh, and uhh.. I don't like the shoes.

If you haven't yet, go read a little bit of Jen's site -
Make Up Your Mind. It's a great mix of personal anecdotes, world issues, photography, and neat links like
this that explain an alternate meaning to the Christian fish you see on the backsides of cars everywhere.

I saw
The Soundtrack Of Our Lives on M2's 120 Minutes last night. I can't say much for their music but I will say that I enjoy the simplicity of their
website. Sometimes the content gives me a horizontal scrollbar when I know it shouldn't, but overall the simple layout and nice cropping and usage of photo's pleases me.

So do Hollywood big-whigs hate technology like TiVo? Or any graphics card with a "TV-In" input on it? Case and point: I have seen every episode of
Six Feet Under because if I missed watching an episode, I downloaded it. Now they are set to be released
on DVD. Is this the same as downloading mp3's? I
do subscribe to HBO, so no money lost there... it's pretty much the same as if I had taped them to VHS... so what's the call on this one?

Check out the site for
Sonic Boom Creative Media. Alot of hot greys and pinks and a good transitional concept. Something about the animation seems just a tiny bit off to me - but overall I like the site and the different depths being utilized.

Interesting article
here about Alan Smithee (see his IMDB
bio as well) and who he really is - a psuedonym for directors who don't want their name attached to a film for whatever reason. Makes me want to catch
this documentary... sounds somewhat interesting. Insight via

Rad little device from
Griffin Technology called the "iTrip" that basically transmits the signal from your iPod to an FM station. Not sure how handy that is, but it certainly is neat. Link via
