Via the
Virtual Boxwel comments -
The Word. A similar concept in that it's a book with paper tab navigation but it's all flash, smooth page turning transitions and a Bill Hicks page - noice.

I think credit needs to be given where credit is due. FOX may be showing
Man vs. Beast but I know for a fact that
Daniel had discussed this idea many months ago (it also transformed into Beast Vs. Beast - Two Silverback Gorilla's vs. a Hippopotamus? Who would win!?).

Leave it to
Jpurvis (who has a nice new splash) to link up the incredible photos of
Arnold Newman. Every section has incredibly thoughtful arrangements of background and subject matter. The portraits section is probably my favorite overall but each one has some truly inspired photography.

Over a year ago my brother asked me to help him out with a little web redesign on a project of his. Finally, after much procrastination it has launched. While I'm not sure the subject matter will really interest a whole lot of you, check out
Virtual Boxwell - a site that contains lots of supplementary information regarding the Boy Scout camp Boxwell Reservation located here in TN. I haven't tested it on a mac or anything, but it's pretty much appealing to a small audience of people so I'm not too concerned. It launched, I think it looks pretty good and now I'm sharing it with you.

Went to see
Adaptation last night. Nothing but good things to say about this movie from me. I liked it much more than
Being John Malkovich.. much more down to Earth and engaging I though (yes I appreciate the absurdity of the Malkovich film, just lemme enjoy Adaptation more.. okay?). Nicolas Cage as actually believable as both Charlie and Donald Kaufman and proved he's not the stock action hero he's dug himself into a hole as. Actually all the acting was quite good, engaging story, interesting cinematography, etc etc. I have this completely unfounded suspicion that Spike Jonze played Darwin.. I dunno why, I just pulled that outta thin air. Good movie.. and if it's playing in Nashville, I bet it's playing in your town as well.

Now
this is a true sign of pixel drawing dedication. You think it's just a part of a drawing, but it keeps going and going.... incredible detail.

Read about some the
gadgets released at this years CES. The most incredible one mentioned in the article is the camera that is the width and height of a credit card.. snuts.

Tommy Mottola
resigned! Interesting indeed. I wonder who Sony will pick to replace him from "outside the industry."

I must strongly suggest everyone go read this
SU Article that will point you to
this transcript from US Senator Russ Feingold and his quest to fix problems caused by a soft money loophole in the Telecommunications Act of 1996. Then send him an
email telling him what a good Senator he is for actually supporting the will of the people. Then send one to
John McCain and tell him to support Feingold like he knows he wants to.

So it seems those crazy scientists actually have
"infected" bacteria with information. Interestingly this was done to perserve information even after nuclear attack - and even more interesting is the fact that the
book I'm currently reading approaches the same concern (though Lem's solution is quite different). Link via
duncan.

All of you New York area people reading this (
you know who
you are), mark your calendar for Feb. 4th to attend the opening night of the
faesthetic gallery. Don't disappoint me. Just because I'm here in culture deprived Nashville doesn't mean you can't allow me to live vicariously through you.

I meant to post this last night when
Frankie showed me the latest
basefield. Be sure to let the song play for awhile as it definetly helps reflect the overall message of the piece. Simple little heroin usage, that's all.

Check out this
lead photo from last weeks "The Week In Pictures." Not a digital pic, that's really a sculpture of fiberglass resin - spooky for sure.
Here's the direct link in case the week has changed or you're just not in the mood to see the full site around the photo.
