I need to mention that I've been obsessively listening to the new
dredg album and I strongly suggest you do as well.

Ew, my brother just informed me that
CDNow has been taken over by
Amazon and it's definetly true. Gross. I wondered why AllStar news was being removed - and now I know.

SimWork. 10 "real" tasks to perform in your cubicle. The 10th one was a bit tricky.. but be patient and you'll get it.

I believe I should have logged this awhile ago. Straight from the mind of Nino comes
Temma Dahan Design. The site for designer handbags (and maternity jeans if you're in the market for it). While most of you reading this are probably not too interested in handbags, it's a very nice design and a good thing to see someone expressing their artistic side in a different way other than just web design.

Absolut meets Jean Paul Gautier in
Legends. Lots of interesting fashion (surprise, surprise). The transitions between full image and zooming in are pretty interesting.. it's almost crude but it's so smooth that it works.

Ryn, take that huge stack of stickers I know you've got and submit them
here. Now if only I had the foresight to make up some yewknee stickers....

Alright.. let's try and get back in the posting game. And lets make it good (though, you've probably already seen it). Chek out
The DesignChapel. No shock that the designer is Swedish and that it's GREAT. Really nice color choices, impressive photography and overall portfolio. Big thumbs up.

For those of you that are morbidly curious, you can see
images from the aftermath of the fire. The interior shots are definetly a bit more intense than the exterior (though both are bad). Again I thank everyone for the kind emails that they have sent - it's good to know there are still good people out there. I will return to my normal website status soon.

I tried to think of an elegant, inventive, or witty way to post this but there's really no good way to go about it. I try and keep this log free of uber-personal information but please understand it's also a mild online recording of happenings in my life (it is my website after all). Last night my mother called me and let me know that their house was on fire and to please get there as fast as possible. Upon arriving I found myself forced to do nothing but watch the house burn.. for several hours. Luckily both of my parents (and the pets) were all fine but it's quite a loss in terms of belongings. You find yourself saying "it's only things.. they don't matter" but let's be honest, you have stuff because you care about it and like having it. It's inconceivable to have it all torn away like that. They didn't lose everything but the family heirlooms and many personal effects are pretty much a lost cause. I appreciate the kind words I've already received from alot of people and hope that in the end this all works out for my parents. (This post also serves as quite the valid explanation of lack of posts).

The
Terminator 3 site has alot of content still in the "coming soon" phase of things but it's definetly got an attention to detail. The intro is well done and has some rad seamless movement... worth checking out even though the film itself isn't neccasarily anything of interest.

Another example of album covers looking similar but purely by accident I'm sure (though nothing tops the previously mentioned
Spoon vs.
Low). This time I'm pointing the finger at the latest cover from
The Roots and matching it against
Psychopharmacology by Firewater. Both have their own unique look but I get the same vibe.

Yea, you've played
this mini-putt but you have forgotten how addictive it is. I got a 34 this time around.. not too shabby.. I've heard tales of 28's and possible 18's.. c'mon, what else are you doing on a Sunday?

New
John Purvis Photography site design up and running. Some nice Frank Black pics to welcome you in (love the super thoughtful center one). The new layout works well and if you use that imagination portion of your brain the center pic for "series" looks to be a super high up shot of some random exhaust smoke stacks in the middle of the country (imagine the left diagonal line is a river or a road). Oh yea, and his photography is still great - he hasn't lost it in case you were wondering.

Thanksgiving at yewknee.com means time with the family. So I'll be out and about spending time with mine, don't expect alot of posts as I will be internet-less. I was going to post a bunch of links to places for you to visit but get off the computer, at least go watch a movie.

The first time I saw
Solaris (the 1972 release) I was just a bit overcome by sleepiness. Tonight, I saw the 2002 version of
Solaris and got just about the same reaction. There were some beautiful shots, some decent ideas, but in comparison to the book it was very poor execution, bad casting choices, weak story and not enough of the actual planet! If it happens to come on TV one day, and you're already kinda tired.. I recommend it.. but I suggest reading
the book (it's a travesty that Clooney now adorns the cover).

20-year-old graffiti writer is a
JERK. Literally. Cool article/mini-interview on LA-based graffiti artist Jerk. She makes some good points about graffiti and gang-relation as well as the police's take on graffiti art. Good read.
