Have you got 5,000$ burning a hole in your pocket? Then be one of the "first on your block" to get a
Segway. You remember Segway - the overhyped Dean Kamen invention that turned out to be a 2-wheeled scooter? Yea the technology is cool but I don't think the pricetag matches the suggested audience.

From
Catchdubs to
NYC Stickers to
Super Happy Bunny. I realize that's not a sentence but it lets you know how I got where I'm at - gotta give credit where credit is due. Don't let the name "Super Happy Bunny" fool you - it's not all cutesy anime characters everywhere - they have a pretty wide ranging portfolio - including some conceptual designs like a self-heated soup can, as well as a "biological, personal product incubation parasite."

Two links from
Daniel: 1)
Brainy Computer - The "ASCI Purple" and the "Blue Gene/L" are slated to become the world's biggest/best supercomputers. Using 4.7 million megawatts of power a day - certainly not energy we could use elsewhere. The comparisons of computer capacities to the human brain are interesting though I'm not sure how accurate. 2) Upcoming new
phone tooth - a cellphone that fits inside a tooth. Definetly has some impracticalities but the technology behind it is redonkulous. Not something I personally would invest in, but I can still marvel at it.

Check out
WSK Artists for a collection of nice portfolios - including the previously mentioned James Jarvis of "World Of Pain." The Tobias Nilsson photography is really nice, and the Aaron Bleasdale interactive design has some very inventive works as well. Link via the
Space Monkey 3000.

I had seen it on
Engrish.com before.. had logged it here.. but a log on
Jen's site reminded me about it. So, as
Nick probably informed me ages ago - the "World Of Pain" character is an intentional play on the cute character - not a mis-use of the English language created by
James Jarvis - who's site tells very little about what he's done or who he is.. but rather that he has new action figures coming out in 2003.

I got some great things in the mail today from
Amazon (UK). First off, I had to import the new
Supergrass - as it is quite good and has no projected release date here in the states. The other two items are stencil grafitti books for my viewing and inspirational pleasure.
Banky's second book
Existencillism (the first one is in the mail) and Tristan Manco's
Stencil Graffiti. The Banksy one would make a great "stocking stuffer" for those of you who are in the market for such a thing.. but both are great books.

Noone bid on
this amazing They Might Be Giants poster created by
Chopping Block. I'm serious.. I'll keel you! But you can look at it and drool at it's mastery.

After viewing
these I am completely inspired to get myself some black and white film. Makes the shots so much more effective. Nice works from
Kaki.

Dang,
Fido Media has made some odd pieces. The Donald Diesel campaign as well as these
cat slippers among other things.

I'm not sure what good
this did but at least it was a protest for peace. Nude women laying out to spell out PEACE probably doesn't look like much from ground level but I'm sure it turned a few heads (especially since the organizer is 72).

This is posted over at
Buddyhead and I may have even logged it before but my friend Sarah sent it to me again tonight and after reading that DIY article I was inclined to make sure you all had read it. So read this article -
Tom Petty on the state of things... - which I believe is taken from mtv.com but I just purtied up the text from my inbox. Make sure you read it.

Great, inspiring,
article on the merits of D.I.Y. Strangely enough the people used as examples are Greg Edwards of
Autolux and Ev from
12 Rods. Any of you people out there in
bands should read it.. oh, and it also explains the concept behind
floorshow which I can only imagine launches sometime "soon."

I get the random ebay auctions from
Chris - such as this
SHARP Audio/Video MP3 tft lcd. Okay so that title doesn't tell you much. Basically it's an ipod like device with an LCD screen so you can transfer over video and watch it on the go. Very cool idea. Very dumb to only incorporate 64 meg with it - 20 gigs would be much brighter.

Some very interesting photography by
Manabu Yamanaka working off of the concept of life and death. Not exactly for everyone but definetly some extremely well done stuff. Ganked from
Newstoday.

This is proof. So bizarre. I wish it was #1 on TRL.

I've never had a look at
The Week in Pictures then go treat yourself. I got the heads up for it from
Amy's website and have enjoyed it for awhile. If you're too busy to check it out in it's entirety, at least look at
this photo and ask yourself what the hell is wrong with our country. Maybe it was just good photographic timing, but that soldier looks ready to kill the 3 year old without hesitation..

Apparently
some people have been doing some random google searching to see where they rank (while
others have been obsessed with it for some time). Well lemme tell ya something, if you search for
Michael Eades on google - I'm #1. That's right, that awkward last name actually does some good in the end. Of course
yewknee returns this site as #1 as well - no surprise there.

Typically I don't post all the sites that we've recently finished at
KNI because that's the job of the
KNI site but I am pretty happy with
this.
Daniel designed it and I built it in Flash using XML files for the tracklisting and sponsor branding.. stuff I was pretty ignorant about but now have definetly got working effectively.

You've really got to
see this to believe it. Carving art into the graphite of pencil lead.. tiny tiny sculptures that are so precise it's almost unbelievable. Taken from
scrubbles - which is looking to offer alot of interesting articles.

Incredible works by
James Victore. Great use of illustration, type, color, humor, etc etc etc.. this is one of those sites where it's obvious that you'll never make work like him but you can still take in every bit of it in a bit of awe. Apparently, if you can't tell, I really enjoyed this one. Link via
