It's time we take this campaign to the next level. Introducing Chris Gaines: The Podcast, a deep dive into the history and mystery of country's most infamous fictional character, Chris Gaines.

"shut down our torrent tracker and we'll just spawn 3 more" is technically true and a nice Che Guevara shirt, but shutting trackers down is indeed quite disruptive, even in a heavily p2p system like BitTorrent
On a centralized website like 8chan and Gab, much more so

the answer is obvious but the history of the outfits is pretty compelling. Plus, there's an EXACT date for when it started; which is kind of wild.

Well, the inevitable has finally happened. After launching a
campaign to get Garth Brooks back on SNL this year, and making
hundreds of GIFs in the process, I have partnered with
Ashley Spurgeon to make a limited-edition podcast about Chris Gaines. The resulting, aptly named,
Chris Gaines: The Podcast is an examination of Brooks misunderstood fictional character and the fallout from its release.
This
first episode is an introduction to myself and Ashley, with a few tidbits about the facts and speculation that will be forthcoming in future episodes.
The feed is
available on Spotify and working its way through the various other platforms as we speak. Fingers crossed that all goes well. I'll be sure to tweet about additional availability as it happens.
In the meantime, hit up
ChrisGaines.show, follow
@GarthGainesSNL and tell a friend.

The latest episode of
My Fantasy Funeral is a conversation with
Elizabeth Williams - an artist and designer who comprises one half of
New Hat. She's a legitimate hilarious person and unbelievably talented. It's hard to sum up her skillset in a succinct manner, so you can just trust me that she is wildly thoughtful and creative in her undertakings.
This
episode of the show, like all episodes of the show, has her sharing the five songs she'd like played at her funeral. Through that process she also shares some insights on redesigning funeral homes, her love of 'gloopy piano music' and the tale of an influential cartoon mouse (not that one).
It is, to put it simply, well worth a listen.

Y'all, my Chris Gaines obsession is hitting critical mass. I bought a radio promo CD off discogs recently because it
might contain a little known dub remix of one of the first Gaines singles. I don't really even care that much about the music but I'm continuously fascinated by the world surrounding it. I'm going to stick with this and see where it leads.
In the meantime,
enjoy these GIFs I made or
find them on Giphy. I'm really contributing!
On to the distractions.

I know everyone likes to think that "Tumblr is dead" now that they've changed ownership hands multiple times and put Adult Content safeguards in place
but it's still a pretty phenomenal place for discovering new artists. I've been following
Concept Album and
Nevver for as long as I can remember and consistently find incredibly inspiring images. Point blank, lots of good stuff to look at over there.
One such discovery is the portfolio of work from
Todd Antony, which covers a lot of ground. These portraits of
Cholita Wrestlers are perfectly surreal, suspending the subjects in battle outside of the ring. Also be sure to give a spin to the
Dekotora truck drivers, which feels a bit less like a fever dream but no less fascinating.

You'd think 2016 would have taught the media how dangerous it is to elevate someone who meets the bare minimum for public speaking simply because they create a spectacle, rather than acknowledge all the disqualifying things that person has said along the way, yet...here we are. https://t.co/1JCysxsGse
