It's old news at this point but new to me. Forgotify is an API service that mines the depths of Spotify to find songs with zero play counts (or partial play counts) and surfaces them one-by-one for you to experience. Though my time with it thus far has been brief, the offerings have been good! It's a solid reminder that just because it's good doesn't mean it's been heard. An issue a lot of artists deal with.
If you're into Forgotify, there's also No Likes Yet for Instagram, The Long Tail for unpopular songs from your favorite artist and PetitTube for YouTube.
here's one of the posters i made for the theatrical release of patricia rozema's groundbreaking feature film, MOUTHPIECE. the film is based on the play by the brilliant norah sadava and amy nostbakken. https://t.co/yK0SfDIDnq
Today is @VP Mike Pence’s birthday- it’s also #PrideMonth so @abteen @isaacbauman @Somesuchandco @WKAmsterdam & I made this film to celebrate- https://t.co/1enjpRhyG0 to donate to LGBTQ+ orgs #happybirthdaymrvp https://t.co/XNtRmLLqc6
I was just on a super bumpy flight. 30m in, someone opened a bag of what could only have been piping hot french fries. Why don’t I plan better for imminent death and two hours of constant fear?
Sometimes you load up Giphy.com looking for a gem and, occasionally, Giphy provides. I don't even want background info on what I'm seeing, I'm just into it.
Nashville residents, please come out to Vinyl Tap Nashville on Sunday, June 9th, for Bill & Ted Day, presented by San Dimas Today; the podcast I help produce. It's gonna be a relaxed, good, time.
A Cat Explains DNS - Look, I don't know anything about Nil, the creator and star of this video, and I hope there aren't awful skeletons in this closet. There is so much going on here it's hard to even begin to summarize it properly. Watch it, know that everything he's saying is 100% accurate, and then give his other videos a deep dive.
Quasi "Paint It Black" - have always enjoyed this cover from Quasi and recently revisited it. Maybe you'll enjoy it too.
Yes, you probably also should see the Helicopter Rescue from Hell but it's such a mixed bag of hilarious and awful feelings, I couldn't include it here.
Had a lot of fun going on the @sandimastoday podcast, to talk about the original critical reaction to the BILL & TED movies (among other things): https://t.co/tOxcvoS5Ts
What’s an SNL quote you perpetually have stuck in your head? For me, it’s John Goodman as Robert De Niro on The Joe Pesci Show saying, “I heard things. I heard things about Marvin’s Room!”
A sign of maturity, for me, is letting people think the thing they’re sharing with me is new to me because it makes them feel good & also makes me look less like the obsessive on-line tween with insomnia that I really am.
This Photo Wake-Up project is blowing up my tiny little brain. Given a single photo input, a 3D model can be generated and animated. The above demo video is full of examples, all insanely impressive. They even go as far as to explain, broadly, what is happening behind the scenes.
Apparently tech like this has existed since at least 2007 but this newest take on the idea is the most robust and can even exist within a full AR space.
The examples they use are, surely, best case scenarios (i.e. no overlapping body parts, very crisp images, etc) but that doesn't make the concept any less bonkers. I've watched this four times at least.
