Been a minute since a Friday Videos came together! Sorry about that but, honestly, I been busy! Between trips to NYC and NOLA, I just didn't have a ton of time to encounter the kind of absurdly distracting videos I know you all thirst for here on a weekly basis. That's not to say that I'm going to bring the best goods ever this week but I'll certainly give it a try!
Cheese Camera - I'm headed to NAB in a few weeks and I imagine it will be this 100% of the time.
Ape Out - I assume this has been out for awhile before coming to Switch but it's new to me. It's a bizarre mix of Saul Bass typography, Raging Ape and outlandish drums... as video game.
Now Apocalypse - look, I know no one has Starz but I've been fascinated by this show. It's a 90's Fever Dream mixed with the sexual energy of Skins (UK) with a dash of bizarre sci-fi. I endorse it but with the disclaimer to tread lightly.
Pete Drake & Talkbox - I've shared Pete Drake here before several times but it's always worth a revisit.
The Ugly Guide - Endurance Challenge! It's only 5 minutes but see how long you can endure this educational video on calling things out on being ugly. Great lessons here.
Want more hott content? Get randy for co-marketing? Like listening to @jamiebradley talk about erotic fan/fic? Check this out, then! https://t.co/RmPBCABNwl
Last night I saw a movie at the Alamo Drafthouse that, were I to bullet-point out the major beats of the story to you, you might not believe me.
But let's give it a go, because people need to know about 1996's VIBRATIONS (thread). https://t.co/OwoPTTNvWb
The latest episode of fan/fiction is a Special Crossover Event in which Jamie Bradley of Hott Minute serves as co-host with Zach Duensing. They discuss AO3, revealing writing styles and the sexual magnetism of Jonathan Frakes.
If you've not listened to the show before, this is a great place to start. Jamie has a deep well of knowledge for a lot of pop culture and the kinds of topics you might imagine a show about fan/fiction would cover. It's hilarious, a bit raunchy and even a bit insightful. Do listen.
Happy to report that after some back-and-forth, we've got those Remixes up on all the streaming services as well. So, if you're a Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play or even a Deezer user, you can enjoy the re-interpretations of the original Heavy Ghost record.
Lightning 100 is a local radio station here in Nashville that has a long-standing Sunday Night show at local venue where some notable acts play and they broadcast the entire show over the air. The concept itself is pretty straightforward but they've had a ton of great musicians play.
Wrote about several brilliant Scott Walker songs while still adjusting to the glare of his passing. Hope you'll especially check out a personal favorite, "A Lover Loves." Only wish I could summon up the unstinting intensity that he brought into the studio https://t.co/ZhVnplWAHv
The inaugural episode of Thick as Thieves, the new Art Heist podcast, has launched! You can hear hosts Sara and Veronica discuss the 1985 Mexico City Heist of the National Museum of Anthropology in any of your favorite podcast apps.
There's actually a Gael García Bernal film entitled Museo about this particular heist so, if you're into the story, you can see it portrayed on the big screen!
You can subscribe to the show on Apple, Spotify, Google, Overcast or wherever you like to hear your shows. Enjoy!

Treat yourself to this Julia Jacklin video for "Pressure to Party." It's got a Spike Jonze feel to it with the camera meandering around through various scenes and actors popping playing various roles. I'd love to see the behind the scenes version of it but I'm more than happy with the final results.
Jacklin's album Crushing is out now and she's also part of the band Phantastic Ferniture, which I highly recommend as well.
I'm a fan of Kate Berlant and John Early, especially when they're together. Their special, 555, is bizarre and weird and hilarious in all the right ways.
They recently posted this short How Have You Been? that portrays the two having an adversarial meetup, masked under the most subtle and subversive interactions. It's hard to tell what's ad-lib and what's scripted but all of it is phenomenal.
