10 years before the original and the tech is 1,000x better. Looks like it might be better than the movies tho.

I've really been struggling to know what to write in these little Friday Video intros. It's like the first ten minutes of a Marc Maron podcast; you don't really care what I put here because you're probably diving straight in to the goods. I don't blame you. So, because this is basically ignored text I'll tell you a few things about myself: I've been overwhelmed with work lately doing poster design, some album art and trying to get some new albums into the chute for
yk records. Oh, and I'm moving back to Tennessee in June. It's proving to be a big mental load and I'm not even sure how I feel about any of it. Turns out I'm not great with change.
On to the distractions!
- Earth, Wind & Ozzys - a new summer classic mashup courtesy of DJ Cummberbund.
- I Have Seen The Future - ha ha ha, laugh all you want, this is a real development on the planet we live on. I won't lie, I'd do it.
- Sean Spicer Behind the Scenes - a quick little featurette showing Melissa McCarthy as Sean Spicer trolling around NYC on her podium.
- McDonalds Salad - the edit is subtle but perfect.
- Cross Town Kids - beautiful looking new video from Nashville's own Phantom Farmer off an unannounced upcoming album.
- Alex, Inc - a new Zach Braff sitcom wherein he portrays a version of Alex Bloomberg from Gimlet Media. This is absolute Cringe - capital C. I dare you to try and watch the whole thing. Ugh.
- Early to the Party - the antithesis of the first video. Quiet, melancholy and sadly sweet. This Andy Shauf record is phenomenal.
Oh, and if you haven't seen
Super Excited Smoke Guy, get on it.

This is why people get exhausted with Democracy. You can state your logical case for years but, in the end, commercial interests will prevail. Ugh.

You know what I don't see much of? Aliens and the Old West. Sure, it's been
attempted but never quite executed in the way that
I'd like to see. Enter Portland, Oregon's
Mark Rogers, a self-taught artist doing a helluva job depicting the weird, the occult, the alien (in multiple senses of the word) and the Old West. Granted, he branches out beyond that settings as well but none of his work feels like it's set in any sort of contemporary landscape.
Spend some time with his
paintings but don't sleep on the
drawings and sketches, which show the groundwork that goes into the final work.

Are you speaking of the multi-year effort to falsely "prove" that a President wasn't born in the United States? https://t.co/sS6G0tFHup

You know that
scene in
Minority Report where all the digital billboards are watching Tom Cruise and serving him custom ads? From 2002, it seemed like something
way off in the future but here we are in 2017 and companies like
Visage Technologies have some very robust Face Tracking & Analysis software at the ready. Do yourself a favor and check out
this tracking demo. It's HTML5 and is able to pinpoint all major points of the face and the conveyed emotions that go along with it. I've got a fairly burly beard at the moment and that didn't seem to slow it down one bit.
The knee jerk reaction is to feel like this is leading to an intrusive future... and maybe it is... but it's undeniably interesting to think about the applications of tech like this, for good or bad. Either way, it's also fun to see a bunch of dots on your noggin and make some silly faces.

This piece covers my reaction to the Hair Tussle pretty perfectly but ALSO turns into a puff piece about how apolitical Jimmy is. Swing and a miss. Bring apolitical and accepting an amoral person are not the same.
