The folks over at
DOTS have released a limited edition double vinyl of the
Two Dots Soundtrack. I had the pleasure of working with Patrick Moberg, Ross Wariner and Cody Uhler to put together the packaging for this beast and I could not be more proud of how it turned out.
When we started the project we went through many iterations of how to capture the Two Dots vibe in a physical manner but simply showcasing the beautiful artwork of the game didn't seem like it was doing the
spirit of the game justice. So, we worked up a bunch of games within the packaging. There's a maze, a word search, tic-tac-toe, spot the difference, match game and more all tucked away in the wonderful gatefold sleeve. Oh, and the records themselves are a beautiful red and purple.
While I am extremely proud of how the package turned out, it goes without saying that without the beautiful music and incredible
fun of the game itself, this wouldn't exist. Major thanks to DOTS for giving me this opportunity. I hope there's a second volume in the future.

Given that their album
Ugly Cherries came out over a year ago, I'm sure everyone already knows them but if you are unfamiliar with
PWR BTTM, please indulge at your earliest convenience. The album is streaming everywhere but I think to really get the proper impact of what they're doing, you need to
see them. Dive into the video for
I Wanna Boi and
West Texas to start off and then just go all in on performances from
NPR's Tiny Desk and
KEXP.
The music is decidedly 90's influenced but manages to steer clear of being derivative or predictable. And, bonus, they have hilarious banter.

Really been enjoying the photo offerings from
Brent Chesanek as of late. Lots of moody settings and incredible lighting.
There's more on his
Tumblr and he's also directed a narrative/documentary-hybrid film entitled
City World.

The portfolio of paintings from
Javier Mayoral is a deep well. It's tough to pigeonhole the work as it runs a wide gamut of subjects but much of it depicts women paired with various quotes; often on the sexual side but, moreso, on the absurd or tragically humorous side. Follow on
Instagram, wade through the
massive blog of works or
try this primer to get familiar.

Over the weekend I stumbled upon this card featuring a
beer loving Grim Reaper wearing sandals and Teva's. A delightful sight if there every was one. The genius behind this piece is
Justyn Iannucci and the intriguing work doesn't stop there.
Much of the work finds that balance between feeling hand drawn but still feeling crisp and exact. I can't stop staring at
that hand and I imagine I'd read an entire book of
this if it wasn't just a show poster.
Find him
elsewhere. Enjoy.

French artist Jacques Villegle coined the term "Anonymous Lacerator" in regard to the collaborative destruction that occurs on walls that have been ripped, torn, reworked, eviscerated and lovingly manipulated into some new creation. This Design Observer piece,
Surface Wreckage, dives deep into the history of this phenomena and tries to explain why we're drawn to these degrading time capsules.

Leonardo Magrelli's
MeError project does a simple yet impossible thing - it removes the subject from the mirror's reflection. While I'm sure other artists have done similar manipulations, Magrelli's choice of locations and color palettes are unique. It's fascinating to see what can never be.
