When Chad sent me this video I wasn't sure if I was seeing a parody, a viral video or a legitimate undertaking. I'm still not exactly sure. The concept for Mars One is lofty - put humans on Mars by 2023 and then start populating it with more people every year afterwards. How do they plan to do that? Oh, you know, with rovers that scour the planet looking for a semi-habitable area, then automatically setup expandable pods for the forthcoming humans on a multi-month space journey. Easy, right?

Bill Plympton, the guy behind countless incredible animated shorts and features, is looking to finish up his latest movie - Cheatin'. He's turned to Kickstarter to gather the funds to help him pay for the task of scanning and coloring the cells for the piece. I know it's easy to get burned out on Kickstarter causes but the $25 tier for this one is actually pretty great - never before seen Plympton animations and a digital copy of the new final film. Sounds worth it to me.

Yesterday, Daniel sent me this 3D Book Showcase - a bit of showing off with CSS3 animations - and it blew my mind. Not only are the animations smooth and easy to understand but it's all being done natively; no Flash. I recall doing a site with KNI a few years back with the exact same animation and interaction - really astonishing that the same can now be accomplished with ActionScript. Thankfully.

One night, my friend Keith and I had a ridiculous idea to make koozies that say "Sorry About Your Band." It was equal parts snarky and amusing as an idea. However, it turns out, getting koozies made is pretty affordable and there's no reason not to make that dream a reality. With that in mind, I am now oddly proud to present the Sorry About Your Band Koozie. For today only, they're $1 each. So, if you're feeling like adding to your koozie collection, get on it!

Stacks is a brand new (for 2013) collaborative music blog between Jim Renaud, Thea Pajunen, Charlie Frame, Paul Cox and Janet Timmons - many of whom you should already be familiar with. The concept is that each author posts one song on their specified day of the week along with a few words about why. Simple. Easy.

The site is so new there's really only three posts at this time but I'm excited for it and see no reason not to spread that anticipation. Follow along and enjoy the music that's already been shared.

What if you decided whenever you were in a spot where a movie you enjoyed had been filmed you'd recreate a scene as closely as you could? What if you also happened to travel a lot? Well, then you might be Movie Mimic - and that's exactly what he does. From LA to Seattle to Chicago to Madrid to Taiwan to Seoul and loads of points between, he's really covered some ground and done a fine job of recreating scenes. I think this one from Japan might be my favorite just because it was so unexpected.

I've mentioned the work of Arcade Death before but it seems that he's updated his site with a great deal of new work - including this phenomenal Modern Love series, this creepy Wink series and these alluring masks. There's plenty of goodness to sort through. Be sure not to miss this little piece, which feels destined to be album cover art any day now.

I love any mix from Cinema Sound / Sam's Myth but I'm rather enjoying this Best of 2012 compilation - showcasing Sam's favorite pieces of film music from 2012. You can hear it here and I suggest you do so at your earliest convenience.

The Gamestick is a Kickstarter campaign (already more than funded) aiming to develop a all-in-one controller + system, all running on an open ecosystem for games. It's kind of like the concept behind Ouya but instead of having the system be another desktop console, everything needed is contained within the controller - a much more intriguing sell as far as I'm concerned. Overall, I'm still wary of the game selection that will be available for an Android based OS but the more systems that exist with this mindset (Gamestick and Ouya both), the more games that will be available. Definitely worth keeping an eye on, at the very least.

Is it safe to assume you've seen King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters? If not, stop reading this (and stop doing anything else) and go watch it. It's a superb documentary. Once you've seen that, I suggest you dive into Chasing Ghosts: Beyond the Arcade - a similar tale of 80's Arcade Game fascination but done with a broader scope. The film focuses on Iowa arcade Twin Galaxies, scorekeeper Walter Day and the Arcade International Scoreboard. Not to mention the slew of teens that excelled at the gaming devices and how they call came together in various ways during the rise and fall of arcade popularity. You can watch the trailer but I suggest you just dive right in.

You are likely familiar with the works of Brock Davis. He is, after all, the man responsible for Chris with Teacup, Broccoli House and many other great projects. However, you may not know that he runs a pretty active Instagram feed filled with sometimes unbelievable images - as well as some portfolio work. It's great. Follow along.

Adrian Maciburko is a User Interface Designer and from the looks of his site, a damn good one. You can follow him on Dribbble but his blog has much more details explanations of the interfaces he's playing around with, conceptually. The latest, Google Time, is an interesting watch / ipod nano style device that you still flick & pinch to interact with - an idea worth pondering at the very least. There's plenty more beyond that in the same realm - quality ideas worth rolling around in the noggin for a bit.
