I had big plans to make an Apocalypse Edition of Friday Videos but then it occurred to me that 99% of conspiracy videos are real boring. So, in lieu of that, I've put together this Christmas playlist. There's some bonus links below and, as always, the running syndicate feed to keep you occupied.

• Christmas Sweatz - just when you think the song has overstayed its welcome, they switch it up. Rhett and Link keep delivering the goods.
• Cat Scared of Mario Jump - you may think this isn't Christmas related but watch this video with your family and I bet good money you'll all be closer as a unit for the unified enjoyment.
• A Charlie Brown Christmas Reunion: Louis CK style - this is actually too accurate of a parody.
• Santa's Slay Trailer - did you know that Bill Goldberg starred as Satan's only son, Santa in Santa's Slay? So bad it's good.
• Jingle Cats - Let It Snow - I will warn you right now, this is a rabbit hole of videos that you don't want to get caught in but probably won't be able to resist.
• Giggle with Goats Holiday Performance - I was really hoping this was going to be Jingle Bells as sung by goats but it turns out it's just a bunch of footage of kid's being jovial. So delightful.
• Arnold's Very Special XMAS Party - this is incredibly difficult to watch but what would you expect from an Everything Is Terrible editing Arnold Christmas Special? Regardless, lots of star power involved. What's going on Randy Travis?!
• Wonderful Christmas Time - Yes, this song is hilariously polarizing but this particular video version is off the charts ridiculous.

BONUS

• Sexy Alison Brie sings Santa Baby - while entirely SFW, this is probably not best watched as a family unit.
• Christopher Lee Heavy Metal Christmas - Count Dooku has a heavy metal Christmas album. Hilarious. via.
• Brenda Lee - Christmas Will Be Just Another Lonely Day - just a quality song for your Christmas enjoyment.

It should be noted that even if the Mayan calendar or Nibiru doesn't get us, there's still plenty to be worried about. Have you heard of the The Big Rip? It's the point in time when the universe has expanded so much that it tears itself asunder and anything caught in the riff will blink out of existence!

Still not convinced? Well then, how about The Big Freeze or The Big Bounce or The Big Crunch? There's no way to know the Ultimate Fate of the Universe but it sure is fun theorizing, right?

Everyone is all up in arms today about the 2012 Mayan Calendar ending, thus heralding the potential end of the world. It's unlikely that anything is going to happen but what if that kind of arrogant hubris is exactly what they're expecting? What if the powers that be really are hiding pertinent information from us?

Did you know that there's another planet directly across from our own called Nibiru (aka Planet X)? Did you know that it's involved in a major cataclysm scheduled for today? That's right, an entire planet has been hiding in plain sight for years and scientists have kept it hidden from us! Is there major scientific rejection regarding this idea? You betcha! But that's all part of the plan. Be prepared!

So, this week, I spent a great deal of time listening to the latest from Partytown Hospital. It's an oddly festive release from some friends of mine featuring them making somewhat terrible music. It's a rewarding endurance challenge. Then, I ran into this gem and it occurred to me that making a Christmas compilation of Nashville based musicians wouldn't be that much work. Fast forward a few hours and you've got We Own This Town: Volume 58.

I know nothing of David Argyle Thacker. I'm entirely unfamiliar with his prior catalog of works but having stumbled into The Mouth Trumpet Christmas Album I feel it is my duty to spread the word about its existence as far and wide as I can. Please, go get it and help me get the good word out.

Jed recently clued me in to the fact that the US Department of Energy runs a Flickr photostream for the mass of photos taken at Oak Ridge during it's long run of existence. Group shots, Night shots, Weird experiment rooms, Empty Spaces and Employee Swimming Pools are in no short supply. You may even encounter Ed Westcott, the official photographer during the Manhattan project development. He's largely responsible for documenting goodness like this.

Twitter has posted their 2012 Year In Review and it's an interesting enough trip down memory lane. The Only On Twitter and Trends capture my attention the most. They also link out to Vizify's Your Year In Twitter Tool if you're interested in seeing your own trends.

So, not moments after posted about The State of Distribution PSA an excellent post from animator Erica Gorochow went up explaining her thoughts on the involvement in the project. I wanted to point out this one particular blurb as I feel it echoes my sentiments quite well:

I don't think everyone will choose to solely self-distribute in the future. I love netflix, will always be surrounded by pirating and will always go to the movies. Rather, self-distribution is an additional option. It has a shot at making "indie" more viable - for both an emerging filmmaker as well as someone more seasoned who seeks a no-strings-attached way of working. Just as there are box office flops, self-distribution won't necessarily provide a golden key. It comes down to giving those who make more leverage: meaning filmmakers absorb more risk and a broader workload, but stand to gain larger returns.

Self-Distribution As Viable Option. Done and done.
