A few things to start off your Halloween weekend. Listen to this
this spooky playlist and if that's not enough for you listen to
this one by my lovely lady and
this Disney Nightmare Mix which never fails to deliver.
While listening to all that, take some time to peruse the
Giphy Halloween Collections, there's just... so much. It's great.
Stay safe out there and have a safe and happy Halloween!
Stay safe out there.
Keep wearing the dang mask.

Today we launched a new
We Own This Town podcast called
Let's Face the Music. The series was conjured up by
Ryan Breegle - who previously created
Vidalotry and
My Fantasy Funeral - and it takes a look at the stories behind the standards of the Great American Songbook.
I must admit that when he introduced the idea to me, I felt very ignorant to the draw of the Great American Songbook. What are the stories to be told? Are there enough stories to fill a season? Fortunately, my doubts were quickly cast aside with the first episode.
Episode one covers the story of "
Strange Fruit," an anti-lynching song popularized by Billie Holiday in 1939 that was based on
a poem published a few years earlier by Abel Meeropol.
It is a difficult and powerful piece that tackles large issues of race; many of which are sadly relevant today. It is a fascinating story and I am honored to be on board with Ryan to help share them.
The official site is at
LetsFaceTheMmusic.show and you can subscribe on
Apple,
Spotify,
Google,
Overcast or wherever you like to listen to podcasts.

Making a Halloween playlist has been a long tradition for me. It may
seem I sputtered off after
2017 but that's not the case! I've just shifted my focus over to my WOTT Music efforts. The newest episode of the show -
The 2020 Halloween Spooktacular - may not have the fun catchy title that yk mixes have had in the past but it's every bit as enjoyable.
The mix starts a bit more lighthearted and then descends into darkness, as a good Halloween mix should. You can hear the version without an intro
over here if you're not interested in hearing my dulcet tones for a few minutes at the top.
This mix is comprised of 100% local Nashville artists and I'm super happy with how it turned out. Goofy at times, incredibly creepy at others and loads of new music to discover if you like a particular track.
Dive in.
