I'm loving browsing through the portfolio of Kelli Anderson. Aside from the work itself being quite nice the presentation of said works is well worth taking note of. I love the Google Maps style homepage and the interior detail pages are far from shabby themselves. There's even a great blog to go along with it. Wins all around.

Zach Galifianakis has never been one to be short on worthwhile quotes but it seems that since he's been put on a relentless promotional tour for his new movie Due Date he's really been amping it up to a new level. Surely you've seen his perfectly awkward interview with Gordon Keith but did you catch his Letterman interview? Maybe not. Vulture has made a handy list of 35 Memorable Quotes from his rounds and it's filled with gems like this:

"Well, I have never been much of a groomer. I take baths a lot, but I don't wear deodorant. I don't have to. I have a miraculous body scent. I've had women smell me and say that should be bottled. I would advise guys to lay off the Drakkar, because the cavemen weren't wearing it. They might have been putting mint leaves on their balls, but [your scent] is grown naturally. I have really good dating advice."

Or this great quip about how he worked with Sean Penn:

I'm in Austin this weekend for the Fun Fun Fun Fest, so the playlist might be a little sparse this go around.. still, there's some gems in there.

• Go! Bwaaah!! - yes this is hilarious. Yes, you feel terrible for the kid.. absolutely awful but you still laugh a little. After watching this, distract yourself even further with 50 Viral Videos under 30 Seconds Long.. loads of enjoyment in there.
• Don Draper says "What?" - apparently he says it quite a bit and in many different tones.. all compiled here for your convenience.
• The McGurk Effect - when it comes to your brain and which sense gets priority in the trust department apparently your eyes trump your ears. Pretty neat.
• Iron Man IV - a Black20 recut trailer for an Iron Man film consisting of footage from a ridiculous number of sources. Is it sensible? Absolutely not. Is it all that entertaining? Debatable. Regardless, it's fascinating just to see how many clips they pulled from so many sources.
• Drunk Nude Russian Runs Around Neighborhood - in case you didn't catch it, this one is NSFW in that it features a naked russian man just sort of terrorizing his neighborhood. If you can make it a little over two minutes in you will have seen all it has to offer.

Bonus:

• The Golem - Black Francis - ole Frank Black re-scored this old 1920 German film with his own musical musings. It's an hour and a half so I suspect you should mark it for Watch It Later.
• Fake Arms with Zach G - it's a dumb skit but it's amusing none the less.

In general if you showed me a photographers portfolio of images consisting of car photography, I would spend almost 3 seconds looking at it and move on. For some reason, it's not a subject matter that's ever been all that compelling to me. Despite that, I've spent a good time clicking through the works of Benedict Redgrove; particularly the more offbeat vehicles like the Pininfarina or Bertone. I'm also appreciative of this Toyota set with the car broken down a bit.. nice to see the elements broken out of their usual context.

It should also be noted that the entire set isn't just cars.. there are plenty of incredible city shots, industrial documentation and some particularly great theatre series. In other words, there is a lot to see. All worth digging into.

I've seen the movie Dark Days so I'm not entirely ignorant to the concept of people living in abandoned subways and tunnels underneath cities but I was unaware of a system of flood tunnels underneath Vegas that people were residing in. This article does a pretty job of profiling a few of the residents that have set up there. It's compelling because it's people living in tunnels but it's accentuated by the fact that they are flood tunnels so there is always a layer of water underfoot.

Chris Morris is the man responsible for Brass Eye, Nathan Barley and the new movie Four Lions and is, apparently, a bit elusive in the interview department. Fortunately, The AV Club was able to catch up with him and get a good bit of insight into the process of making his latest film and his penchant for turning a humorous mirror on some of life's taboo subjects.

And if you haven't yet, watch the Four Lions trailer. The movie is being distributed by Drafthouse Films here in the US and starts showing in select theatres today.

NY Mag's Vulture has a great feature with David Cross on All His Roles that you should take some time to read through. From his limited time as Twangly Jackson all the way up to his latest role as Todd Margaret, they cover all the major points... including his role in Alvin and The Chipmunks (love his response to that). The one thing that seemingly overlooked? His role in Scary Movie 2... would love to hear his take on that.

I've always been a fan of Ryan McGinley - mostly because his works feature a lot of naked people doing crazy things that I will likely never encounter in my life. Not that I particularly want to but there's an allure to his life documentation that really can't be denied. He's got a new show up at Ratio 3 in San Francisco called 'Life Adjustment Center' featuring a number of his infamous nudes... paired with animals. Dig through these galleries and check out the show.. good stuff.

If the mention of nudity in the prior paragraph didn't warn you enough - these works are not suitable for your work environment. That being said, this image is undeniable (as is this).

Did you catch that little short Marcel The Shell With Shoes On that was going around a little while back? Well, creator, Dean Fleischer-Camp has a new series with Gabe Liedman and Jenny Slate called Bestie x Bestie. They're short and there's only two episodes but you should watch them both.. though I prefer episode two over one; just for the record.

As much as I enjoy analytics, I really don't love most of the tools offered to gather them. Reinvigorate is my current platform of choice but I'm pretty blown away by what I'm seeing at Chart Beat; a new real time monitoring system. The demo looks designed incredibly well and delivers as promised; stats updating constantly. I don't really require instant stats but it's better than Google Analytics 24-hour wait time.

• Google releases mod_pagespeed - an Apache module designed to improve page delivery; mostly by caching images and other tricks. Watch the sample video; not ridiculously dramatic but it is faster.
• Adobe, Typography and Webkit - an extension for Webkit browsers that will enable "higher fidelity and adaptive layout" for pages. The demo video is actually pretty nuts. Kind of a bummer that its only for Webkit but apparently they're the most nimble?

It's going to be a sad day when the 'Everything' series has run its course. Let's hope that day never comes. Please watch.

As of late I haven't really been posting a ton of fine art stemming from the painting / sketching department, I'm typically more drawn to photography as a general rule. However, the work of Charmaine Olivia seems to cover all the bases - drawings, paintings and photography.. a little bit of goodness from every department.

After seeing the just released set of MUJI Apps I had to try them out. I picked up 'MUJI To Go' to see what it had to offer. Turns out, not a ton. Granted, I did pick the least functional app of the four being offered but it didn't do much beyond offer time and weather for regions I've zero concern with. Fortunately it did push a lot of products in my direction with some rather amusing writeups.

That being said, the Calendar and Notebook apps look well done and the To Go app had a good feel for transitions and slickness. I'm not counting them out yet.. try them out and lemme know what you think.

Repurposing vinyl records into clocks isn't an entirely new concept but the RE_VINYL take on the execution from Pavel Sidorenko are nice and unique. I'm particularly prone to the more landscape-esque designs but they've all got something good going on.

So, I ran across this graph last night as the election results were pouring in and got a little extra bummed. I'm honestly baffled by the level of discontent in our country but maybe that means I'm removed enough from the bad times that I should think of it as a good thing. Regardless, it has been pointed out to me that this election didn't matter and maybe I can take some solace in that. It should be interesting to see how things go the next few years.

I am sure at this point you really need zero reminder that today you need to get out and vote. Mostly because it's your civic duty but also because it's not something you get to do very often, so why not?! Actually that's probably a terrible attitude to have but you should still vote.

Also, you should be sure to go through all these issues as a reminder of what's been accomplished in the past two years.

Daizi Zheng has a number of projects to take a look at - product concepts that lean more on the Art Project side of things than a viable production line candidate. Regardless, there are some interesting ideas in there.. and that's the key point. For instance, these healthy snacks packaged as fast food, cigarettes or pills. Maybe the message is a bit heavy handed but I still think it's pretty clever.
