Have you watched Running Wilde yet? The new FOX series with Will Arnett and Keri Russell? Yea, you probably shouldn't because, frankly, it's not very good. But how could the gold team of Arrested Development goodness Mitch Hurwitz and Arnett flop so poorly? Well, this interview covers that topic pretty well. Basically, FOX wants something more palatable, less weird and Hurwitz really isn't involved that much. I don't give it much more time to be on the air.

Thanks to Falfa I stumbled upon this little device called The Glif - an iPhone add-on that functions as a standard tripod and is able to prop the phone at a proper viewing angle. The kickstand portion of the functionality provides hands free FaceTime but, honestly, the best part about this thing is that it could allow you to mount your phone to a tripod and really get some proper use from the HD camera. The only problem with it? It doesn't actually exist yet.

However, it is in the works. They've started a Kickstarter campaign and, apparently, surpassed their goal three times over. When I looked yesterday mid-afternoon they were still a few hundred dollars shy, now they've skyrocketed past their needs. This is great for them because it means by donating $20 to the campaign you are pre-ordering a device that has zero excuses to fall through. They've got $35k and only needed $10k! So, get in there and order one.. you know you want one.

Over the past few years I've really fallen off of keeping up with the output of Threadless. I respect what they've been able to do but a kitschy / overly clever t-shirt is just no longer something I find that interesting. However, I was fortunate enough to receive a copy of their new 10-year Anniversary Book and have to admit that it is filled with page after page of interesting stories and designs. Sure, there are plenty of designs that do nothing for me but maybe that's part of the point - they've developed a platform able to put out a number of diverse designs that may not appeal to everyone but they appeal to enough people to keep the company growing. Next time you're in the bookstore, give it a browse.. I think you'll be more tempted to procure it than you think.

During Whiskerino one year there was a bit of a hub bub over one of the participants going out to his neighborhood grocery stores and dumpster diving to retrieve food for his own personal use. People were disgusted at the thought of this process. After some calming down it turns out that 99% of the food being retrieved was still sealed in its original package and perfectly fine for consumption. Such is the concept behind Dive!, a documentary explaining this phenomena of trashing loads of perfectly good food. It really seems like a ton of it could go to local Rescue Missions or other people in need, as long as the food was prepared relatively soon.

I'm certainly not suggesting to feed the poor with rotten or expired goods but once you watch the trailer, you'll see that the food is top notch shape.

The concept behind FFFFl*ckr is not too dissimilar to that of FFFFound - if you like image A, you should like images X,Y and Z. However, instead of basing these selections on crowdsourced likes and comparisons it is setup to draw straight from your Flickr account. Here's the breakdown:

Use it to find the photography you like using the simple idea that people whose work you like, probably like stuff you'll like. You start with a set of pictures - if you authenticate, it'll use 20 of your last 100 favorites - otherwise it'll start with somebody's favorites. Click any picture to load more. Don't like what that person likes? Scroll back and click a different picture you like. It's that simple.

So, based on what you Favorite on Flickr, it pulls in visual treats for you. I actually found that I saw more compelling images on the site if I didn't login and let it compare to my Favorites than if I did but, regardless, it's a good idea and there is a ton to discover there.

Jeremy posted a new mix up for your enjoyment. According to the writeup, Making the Cut, is as much as an exercise in restraint and selective choices as it is about presenting you with enjoyable tunes. There's a lesson to be learned here.. good mixes require actual work and listening if you want them to have any sort of vague "flow" to them. Personally, I think the effort was worth it, the mix sounds great.

After viewing the tweets of l_I__I_l it can no longer be said that Twitter can't be used for the visual arts. I'm partial to this style but there are alot of impressive configurations throughout you should at least peek at.

• Browser UI - add a browser to any comp for proper presentation. Seems very handy tool to have around, assuming it works as advertised.
• Dreamhost PHP INI - extremely simple script that sets up your Dreamhost server to use your own PHP.ini file without having to run your own custom install of PHP itself - which means you can crank you max file upload size and other server settings but still get server upgrades when they come down the pipe.

I've posted about the works of Zea Barker before but always in the context of her illustrations. Where she really shines is in her clowning skills. As in, legit goofery. So, in celebration of Buster Keaton's birthday she has released her two short films that best capture this skill of hers. The two films - Part 1: Distraction and Part 2: Creation - are very much like watching an old, amusing, silent film. The facial expressions are over the top, the antics are zany and the humor is a pure kind of enjoyment. Part Two focuses much more on stop frame animation but compliments the wacky brain you are let into during Part One.

Long story short, these two films are great and are in need of watching at your earliest convenience.

Shaun Lind, he of Public School, recently launched his own amusing endeavor called Seriously Sorry. The site is a repository of apologies ala Texts From Last Night or Group Hug but filtered through Shaun and his team. This means you can expect less crap to wade through and more funny to rise to the top. I like the idea of the site becoming sort of a confession booth for anyone to come and express their apologies for any reason; as long as they do it with a smirk. Read them and submit your own.

Maybe this has been up for a minute but the new fleshed out Google TV site is fresh to me. I'm pretty sure I get it in terms of what they're going but I'm quite curious to actually see it in action. The one demo video I've seen looked to be a pretty seamless experience but reality rarely matches a product demo. The software will be available via the Logitech Revue but there are no announcements of when that will actually be available. Long story short, at least take a moment to browse the Quick Tour and get an idea of what to expect. I will say it's a nicer looking idea / experience than what I've seen of the new Apple TV...

This commercial for The drench Cubehead is every bit as bizarre as the screengrab would lead you to believe but only about half as disgusting as you assume. I realize it's odd to post such a blatant ad but when something is well done, it's well done.

Please take some time this morning to read through this AV Club Interview with David Cross - mostly focusing on his new show The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret but also goes into his work on Running Wilde and the dropped Adult Swim show Paid Programming.. which is perfectly brilliant once you comprehend the setup.

I attempted to drum up some documentation on doing this via the Vimeo API but since the Watch Later album is locked and does not have a visible unique ID; my hands are tied and the ball is in your court.

No nonsense this week.. let's get right down to it:

• Using your RapeFear Fantasmask - don't let the title scare this, this is hilariously weird and enjoyable, despite it being quite creepy.
• Slayer goes to Church - it is remarkable how well these two things mash together.. nice job video editor.
• Jean Claude Van Damme Singing Greatest American Hero - you only need about ten seconds of this but you really need those ten seconds. I mean, that animation effect is just too bizarre.
• Fitz and the Tantrums - MoneyGrabber - nothing wacky about this, just an enjoyable music video and song. Love the change up on the look during the bridge.
• Raven Speaks - it's not a new fact that birds can mimick human speech but the disconnect between this bird and the voice emitting from him is hard to believe.
• Jeff Goldblum wiggling his ears - I can watch this for entirely too long.
• Lazy Corgi - it gets good around 25 seconds in.. wait for it. His frustration is palpable.
• Snoring Cat In Juice Glass - I am including this mostly because I don't believe I've ever seen those words strung together before.

BONUS

• The Unseen Sea - gorgeous compilation of time lapse videos of San Francisco and its never ending fog. Incredible.
• Awesome Trailer for Awesome Solitaire - the best version of Solitaire for the iPhone has the best commercial for itself. Without a doubt.
• Wolf Parade - Yulia - great new video featuring Cosmonauts and quality indie rock. How could I ask for more?

Apparently Google launched a new image format called WebP (weppy) yesterday. It's a lossy format similar to JPEG but with a better compression algorithm so the filesizes are actually smaller without incurring a substantial quality loss. Sounds great but the only way to create them is with their conversion tool and, I assume, the only way to view them is with Google Chrome. Thinking back on adoption rates of the PNG format for IE users I think it's safe to say that while WebP is a nice idea, it has a very long road ahead of it until there is actual proper adoption.

David Jablow has taken it upon himself to fill all 38 pages of a 1960's doodle book with his own, highly detailed, creations. Basically the book is filled with this template of a nude woman doing who knows what and Mr. Jablow is putting her into all sorts of situations that I'm sure is far beyond the original intent. The results are fantastic and I recommend adding his photostream to your contacts so you don't miss future creations. View them all right here, and start from the beginning.

The Big Picture knocks another one outta the park with their photo essay on abandoned neighborhoods in Florida - and the oddly compelling landscapes they create when viewed from above. It's rather incredible how many of these resemble circuit boards and even more remarkable just how much development has just been completely ditched.

Many thanks to Public School for the heads up on these Racial Division Maps from Eric Fischer. The maps were inspired by Bill Rankin's Chicago Boundaries map that originally executed this technique. You can see all of Fischer's maps for a myriad of different cities here (Chicago, New York, Seattle, Portland, Austin) and then contemplate the implications of most cities having very distinct divisions between racial groups. Think on it.

It's somewhat hard to believe but the above home is comprised entirely of Lego's. Mike Doyle is the man behind the creation and says this of the undertaking:

This is my first moc since coming out of dark ages a few months back. I chose to work in B&W to reduce the image to more of a textural study. As this was my first lego experience (since a kid) I had no bricks to start with, so buying all black and white was easiest as well.
