So, while not entirely official yet, the new album from Uncle Skeleton, Warm Under the Covers, will be \'released\' this Saturday at the Moustache May bash. Sadly, the vinyl version will not be available in time for the release so I\'m not making it official official until that time. That being said, you can preview the first track \"Alright\" and snag the digital version soon.. but I\'m not going to make any fanfare about it until the legit real version is ready to go. Come out Saturday night to get a taste of what to expect and reserve your copy.

Public School has released a series of 18x24 prints with some \'inspiring\' phrases to get you through your day entitled Keep These In Mind. The series has these phrases:

• \"Tie your shoes, pack a good lunch and remember that we\'re all in this together.\"
• \"At the end of the day all you have is tomorrow morning.\"
• \"Fridays are a good day to sit in the corner or a bar and think about what you\'ve done.\"
• \"People, places and things are all great. Study them.\"

These guys always produce pleasurable work as far as I\'m concerned.

I\'m not sure why you\'d ever need this but the Las Onomatopeyas Archive is a nice resource for all your Batman \'Sounds As Words\' needs. \"Bap!\" has always been ranked amongst my favorites but I think Qunckkk! may be coming up quickly.

I realized yesterday that it\'s been far too long since I listened to the Ween Pizza Hut Jingles and, amazingly enough, discovered that they are still every bit as amusing as they were on first discovery. If you don\'t know the story, someone had the bright idea to hire Ween to write some jingles for Pizza Hut\'s \"The Insider\" pizza back in 2002. They delivered numerous jingles; all of which were rejected. The two that made it out to the Internets are fantastic.

Earlier in 2002 we were hired by the largest advertising firm in the country to write music for a Pizza Hut commercial. Pizza Hut had hired them to come up with a whole new image to promote their new Pizza, \"The Insider\" which had all the cheese inside the crust. In keeping in line with their new cutting edge image, the agency hired Ween to do the music, and we delivered in a big way. Unfortunately, they didn\'t like a single piece of the 6 tunes we submitted and they had us rewriting the song every day for a couple of weeks before they hired someone else. In my opinion, it is one of the best tunes we wrote all last year.

Another Nashville artist has made their way up to record a Daytrotter session. This one is from Caitlin Rose and features, mostly, songs from her forthcoming full-length. It\'s odd that I pretty much shy away from songs with a country tendency but Caitlin\'s work somehow seems to draw me in. Her voice always has a forelorn flavor to it that captures that whole \"heartbroken\" vibe pretty perfectly. I\'m even warming up to \"Own Side\" - a track that I was standoffish to at first and am now realizing the potency of. Go listen and download.

Today I am happy to announce the release of the latest from my little label project. In continuing celebration of Moustache May I asked Codaphonic and Shaboi to submit a song for a split 7\" inspired by the love of the moustache. They delivered.

As with all releases on my roster, the digital version is free. I want you to hear the songs, enjoy them and spread the word. The ultimate point is to get the music heard by as many people as possible. That being said, these songs are going to sound great on vinyl and I highly recommend you order the 7\".. well worth it.

The Handfish is an anglerfish that is mostly found in Australia and Tasmania. They use their fins to \"walk\" along the sea floor. More importantly, they look totally awesome. I mean, look at these guys... just hangin out.

Learning Secrets is an Event Planning / PR / Design / etc Boutique in Austin, TX. That is all well and good but what is important here is the infinitely scrolling illustration work of Ian Orth. I have a hard time denying imagery the involves: Vomiting Rainbows, Trapeze Nose Moustache, Sasquatch Mountain Molestation and/or Hot Air Cat Balloon.

The irony that Wired, a magazine founded to chronicle the digital revolution, has traditionally come to you each month on the smooshed atoms of dead trees is not lost on us. Let’s just say the medium is not always the message.

So, after some speculation the WIRED iPad App has arrived. It looks / behaves pretty much on par with the predicted outcome and, I must say, it\'s a much more appropriate format for the content. Being able to interact with the pieces but still treating, on the whole, like a magazine format is pretty much perfect. It\'s $5 and filled with ads but that\'s a small price to pay for all that goes into it.

• The List of Real Life Cheat Codes - 29 items to help get you through life easier. Not really cheats but an amusing way to think of it. Not all of them are all that fantastic but some are truly golden:

Did you know that Moustache May has been going on all month? I neglected to mention it earlier because, frankly, if you didn\'t know.. you probably didn\'t have an undying, non-ironic, love for the moustache that many of us do. Well, it\'s down to the end of the month now and two very important goings on should be taken note of.

This Saturday, May 29th, there will be a great celebration of the Stache at Mercy Lounge. Roy Ira, Shaboi, Uncle Skeleton, Tristen and The New Whole Usuals will be playing the event. A portion of the proceeds will be going to the YWCA as well; because there\'s nothing more appropriate than Moustaches Against Domestic Violence.

Been digging through the photography portfolio of Koo Sung Soo thanks to Courtney. The \"Magical Reality\" set has a strange vibe to it but I\'m mostly drawn to the \"Han-Al High School\" and \"Inspection of Factory\" sets for their empty creepiness. The High School in particular brings about a lot of curious questions; such as why such a place would be abandoned in such a hurry with so many left behind materials strewn about. Love it.

I can\'t say 100% that I\'m smitten with The Big Caption; a vaguely NSFW (language) / humorous design blog that uses typography to send up a ridiculous statement about a particular image. There are some that are undeniable but others that seem a bit too flippant for my taste. Regardless, it\'s worth a look.. even if its just to decide your take on it.

Can we all agree that while the Harmful Drinks in America writeup is terrifying it actually works as a pretty good gauge of what you\'re getting yourself into. Can we ditch our current system of nutritional information and just start equating everything to how many donuts it would be? I think it\'d be a simpler system we all understand.

The AV Club posted a great interview with Will Forte that covers some interesting ground in regards to his role on SNL and the recently released MacGruber movie. I feel like Forte (and Jason Sudeikis) are a little underappreciated for the goodness they bring to SNL and it\'s good to read that others feel the same. It\'s also good to hear that others find the Potato Chip sketch as bizarrely amusing as I do; so weird but so enjoyable.

If there\'s one thing you can say about LOST is that it has been a rather compelling storyline for the past six years. As a cultural touchstone sort of thing, you gotta admit that LOST has a hefty place in the hallways of pop culture. The overall consensus seems to still be brewing in regards to the finale but it seems to be ranking with the masses quite a bit higher than a lot of other big shows of its type (Dallas, Sopranos, etc).

For me, the final episode was just about everything I wanted. I can\'t remember the last time I watched an episode of TV and felt so locked in. A group of friends had a BBQ and we watched it projected on a huge screen.. it was movie-esque in every way. The writers did a great job of tugging at heart strings with a good pacing, throwing in a bunch of high action sequences (Jack vs Smocke on the cliffside was pretty epic) and continuing their Island Mythos with the contents of the cave interior.

I hate to be that guy but I was pretty disappointed in the very final scenes. I\'m not so emotionally invested in a TV show that I really care all that much how they ended it but it felt like a very safe, very tidy way to wrap it all up. A cop out if you will (and a bit of backpedaling). That being said, the journey to that destination was great. I loved 98% of the finale and the series as a whole has kept my attention for many years.

What were your thoughts on it? Did it deliver for you?

I have been slaving away on a handful of projects over the past few weeks and I\'m extremely excited to debut them very very soon.. as in, this week. Normally I don\'t tease with such information but I want to build a little anticipation and remind you that if you haven\'t snagged this yet, go ahead and do so now. You\'ll want your collection to be complete.

• HTML5 Watch - emerging and intriguing usage of HTML5 goods.
• Video JS - full fledged HTML5 video player. Open Source, no images, 100% skinnable, rolls back to Flowplayer. Stuff like this will make the HTML5 standard spread like wildfire.

Take 11 minutes this morning and watch Pixels - a mini-documentary about the pixel art movement. It\'s always intriguing to hear Jason Rohrer speak about his take on Videogames As Art (see also: A Life Well Wasted Episode 3). I disagree with a few of the points made about the ambiguity of pixel art being the thing that makes it so easy for us to connect with it - something like Dan the Man is not ambiguous.

Anyway, it\'s well worth the 11 minutes and I look forward to something more from Simon Cottee on the subject. Via WAXY.

Slimmer pickings in this weeks playlist but there\'s bound to be something in there.

• Luckiest Bowler Ever - I would like to attempt to recreate this at my local alley at least once a week.
• Cat Fights Babysitter - the build up is worth the payoff.. that cat really goes nuts on the sitter. Why she opts to pick up the child as a defense mechanism is beyond me.
• Jessica\'s \"Daily Affirmation\" - I consider myself a pessimist so I assumed there was no way I was going to enjoy a video of a small child affirming all the great things in her life. I couldn\'t help it, her enthusiasm is captivating. If you can make it 13 seconds in, you\'ll be hooked.
• Barts Blackboard - illustrator Mat Williams decorated Work-Club with every line written from The Simpsons blackboard. See the results up close here.
• Winnebago Man: The Movie - one of the most famous Internet clips becomes a documentary and, honestly, it looks great. Jack Rebney holds up after all these years.
• LOST: All The People Who Died - with LOST wrapping up this weekend this only seems appropriate. Obviously if you haven\'t seen the show, this will contain spoilers. You can cross reference all this here.

Bonus:

• Hail Storm Oklahoma City - absolutely nuts but a bit monotonous at 4 minutes long. Skip ahead a bit and see how mind blowing the onslaught gets.
• Meet the sloths - good luck having this not make your day 100x better.
