In 2005 I saw Chadwick Boseman’s work when he was a young playwright at the Congo Square Theatre in Chicago. In 2018, I interviewed him as a global icon, starring in Black Panther, for the UK Magazine Shortlist. He loved black people, black art, and had so much more to give. ???????? https://t.co/6xA4dOp7Vc

This video shows the significance of Chadwick Boseman‘s role as T’Challa in “Black Panther.” An example of why representation matters https://t.co/oXnRbdwRit

Denzel Washington once quietly helped pay for Howard University students to attend a prestigious theater program at Oxford when they couldn't afford to go. Chadwick Boseman was one of those students. Last year, Boseman told the story and spoke about legacy https://t.co/ANlZUYgRzd

Have I used Lumpawaroo as a cover gif previously? Probably but whenever I see him in a
gif dump, I just can't help myself.
Helluva week. Lots of horrible things happening in the news wherever you look. Hopefully we are all able to see these things as net positives; resolving injustice isn't going to come easy but at least progress is being made and a light is being shined on the problems.
But, hey, you don't come here for that. Enjoy:
Stay safe out there.
Keep wearing the dang mask.

Very happy to share the trailer for
Memento Stori, a new podcast on the
We Own This Town network hosted by Rebecca Delius. The show is "about our complicated connections to inherited items" but I think the trailer says it better than any marketing logline can:
The first episode will be released quite soon but I highly suggest you go ahead and subscribe so you don't miss it. It is available on
Apple Podcasts,
Spotify,
Google Podcasts,
Overcast and wherever else you listen to podcasts.
You can, and should, follow the show on Instagram
@mementostori. I'm excited to be a part of sharing this one with the world!

Searched Giphy for #wonderful and
this came back. Seems right.
If you're here for some meaningless distractions, you have no better destination than
/r/AbruptChaos/ on Reddit. You're welcome.
Here's to a wonderful weekend.
Side note, have you watched
YOLO: Crystal Fantasy on Adult Swim? Has a SuperJail vibe to it, which I am into.
Stay safe out there.
Keep wearing the dang mask.

The debut album from Nashville trio
The Prudish Few,
The Eagle Has Left the Building, is officially available today via my own
yk records. Streaming on
Spotify,
Apple Music,
YouTube Music and
anywhere else you like to stream. I recommend
Bandcamp of course but just listen to it!
The members of The Prudish Few have been in various bands around Nashville for as long as I can remember. Todd Kemp played in
The Carter Administration for... forever. Mike Shepherd and Jay Leo Phillips were both a part of
Apollo Up!- one of my all time favorites - as well as
Tower Defense and their own
solo album, respectively. All that is to say, I've been a devout fan of their individual work for almost 20 years. Hearing them come together in a new project feels familiar but also entirely fresh and new. It's pop rock but it's intricate in a way that is hard to articulate.
In a
recent interview with the band I quipped that they sound like "If They Might Be Giants and [D.C. math-pop trio] Faraquet got together." That's a niche comparison if ever there was one but I stand by it.
I really recommend that you just start at the top of the album and let it play through but if you need a recommended starting point that
isn't one of the previously released singles, give “
I Am From History” a whirl for some head-bopping elation or “
Aliver Than Ever” for a cool breeze on a brisk summer day.
Enjoy!
