Grain Edit gives the heads up on The Sign Painter Movie; a new documentary that recently started production focusing on the craft of hand painted signs. It\'s a dying art for sure but, moreso, it\'s an art that should be taken notice of. I\'m sure the film itself is a long ways off from being completed but it should be an intriguing one when it is completed.

• An Interview With David Cross - even the most mediocre of interviews with Mr. Cross are interesting to some degree. This one seems to have a lot of editors notes peppered throughout but if you are willing to forgive that, it\'s a decent read.
• Aziz Ansari, Danny McBride Team Up - add to the fact that 30 Rock writer Matt Hubbard and Rough House production (David Gordon Green, Jody Hill and Matt Reilly) are involved in this and I suspect there will be greatness afoot.

Please get over to the Brooklyn Farmacy Soda Fountain and allow me to live vicariously through your experience. The overall design, interior and exterior, is top notch and I imagine the treats they serve are pretty tasty as well. There are loads more pics of the place here.

The material contained within here is perfectly fitting for Friday Videos but that\'s so far off it\'d be a shame to hoard the enjoyment for that long. Basically, a man going by the name of Kenny Strasser, aka K-Strass, is convincing local morning news shows across the Midwest that he is a Yo-Yo champion touring schools to raise awareness. The truth of the matter is, he is none of that; as he quickly and hilariously proves when put to task to actually accomplish a Yo-Yo trick.

The hoax is a pretty brilliant one and excellently executed. You believe K-Strass even when he\'s failing completely and the local news platform is absolutely perfect for this sort of hoax; as they have to have dumb filler content all the time. So, please, watch his appearances and keep an eye out for more.. he may have struck gold in more than just those three videos.

Sometimes the Onion is alarming in their satire. Their revival of Joad Cressbeckler as an opinionated talking head is right on the money. Yes, it is absurd and unbelievable but not that far off from reality in many cases.

It may seem a bit lengthy to watch in full at first but this Conversation with Conan O\'Brien presented by Google & YouTube is pretty much fantastic through and through. It\'s good to see Conan doing his regular schtick, being self-deprecating, goofy and actually insightful regarding how technology impacted his recent \"transformative experience.\" The rather poignant moment in that regard comes about 18 minutes in but I can see no reason why you wouldn\'t just enjoy the entire talk; it\'d be impossible not to.

While we\'re on the subject of slightly disturbing images involving animals; take a moment to check out the Rogue Taxidermy Show. Most of the works are great, classy, creations built from the vessels of actual animals but be forewarned, a few of them are not so classy and are actually quite disgusting. If you can get through that, you\'ll be rewarded with goodness like this robot deer or Gus.

On the whole, the works from Enrique Gomez de Molina are, by far, the ones to capture your attention. The beasts he has melded together look like legitimate creatures that could walk the earth... sort of.

Sorry to start your week off this way but this Goblin Shark with the protrusible jaws should be seen. Sure, nothing bad happens in this video but it\'s the stuff of nightmares that jaw.. fascinating and terrifying.

I owe a tip of the hat to MBV Music for making me aware of Rafter; the musical output of one Rafter Roberts. I included a track from his latest record Animal Feelings on my last mix but I feel inclined to express just how great this record is. I won\'t embarrass myself trying to properly describe exactly what it sounds like but it is an eclectic mix of styles; all entirely enjoyable. I rank this up in my favorite discoveries of the year and think you should go about procuring the full album. If you considered yourself a fan of Self at some point in time, the likelihood of you enjoying this is quite high. I\'m not saying they sound alike but, stylistically, it\'s something you\'ll be able to get into.

Justin David Cox, of Public School, just relaunched his portfolio and you should go take a look at it. I was pleased to see quite a few new works in there. The Editorial Illustration for UT and the Tote design were particularly surprising treats. Also be sure to keep an eye on his various blogs.

I\'ve seen plenty of Jellyfish galleries in my time with the Internet but this image is easily far more striking than the usual fare. The photographer did a great job of making them look enormous and otherworldly.. now if only they were bioluminescent.

Jeremy gave me the heads up on the works of Maggie Casey; an artist / sculptor residing in Portland. From what I can tell most of her pieces are intricate installations that probably need to be viewed from multiple angles to really understand entirely what is going on - something like this looks insanely chaotic when viewed as a still image (but maybe that\'s the point). However, some of the sculpture pieces translate quite well to regular photography - particularly the Model series. Splitting, Cloud, Windy Instant and Hanging Angle are mesmerizing to look at.. so go be mesmerized.

The fine folks from A List Apart have started a new endeavor entitled A Book Apart; a publishing company focused on creating brief books covering subject matter for web designers and developers. The first release, HTML5 for Web Designers, is 85 pages of insight into the new HTML5 specs, peppered with examples. It can be preordered for $18; a fair price for such a nice looking product. I\'ve ordered mine and look forward to what the next publication is that they\'ve got up their sleeve.

Conceptually, Forrst seems to be along the same lines of thinking as Dribbble; a place to share your designs with your peers for feedback. However, they take it one step further and let you share links and code as well; not just imagery. I haven\'t immersed myself in their site yet but I love the look of the homepage and the browser stretching is pretty clever.. so they\'ve got me hooked right up front.

Lack of blog posts today stem from doing a wee bit of volunteer work for Hands On Nashville this morning to try to assist in some tiny way with the flood relief. It\'s insane that my neighborhood has had a few felled trees and a little home damage but, on the whole, not really touched by the storm. Hitting up another area of town this morning really opened my eyes to the fact that a lot of people really lost their homes - water up to / above their rooflines, losing all their belongings and, one would assume, incurring harsh structural damage to their places.

I rarely speak much to personal happenings in my life on this site but if you can spare it - please do what you can to help. People need clothes, canned food, donations for relief and whatever else you can spare. Nashville residents need to conserve water usage (not hoard) and if you are able, get out there and help. It\'s rough out there!

So, if you didn\'t hear - Nashville got some rain this past weekend. And by some I mean a whole lot - 28% of our annual rainfall in two days. My home did not incur any damages but there are a lot of people that are in serious need of assistance. Nashvillest has a huge list of how you could help out. Obviously donations to Middle Tennessee Red Cross are welcomed.

It\'s tough to know exactly what to do in situations such as this one because they are, thankfully, pretty rare. I would suggest partaking in some of the following:

• Volunteer with Hands On Nashville - you aren\'t obligated to actually do anything but it gives the opportunity to know where to act if you feel so inclined.
• Conserve Water - with one water treatment plant down and the other one in danger of shutting down it\'s best that you only use the water when you have to.

  Easy enough right? Just put yourself in this mentality.

Obviously those of you from outside Nashville can\'t do these things (except maybe donate) but you can be aware of people in need. I mean, Olbermann thinks we\'ve been completely abandoned! We haven\'t.
