Pope St. Victor pointed me towards this great WWF Campaign from Luiz Risi. The video that goes along with it really sends the visual message home and the website design is great - albeit a tiny bit disgusting to see the chimp hand all zoomed in and moist looking.

It\'s a bit of a downer that Flux-Rad is in between jobs at the moment due to the demise of WOXY but it does give her a bit more time to put together content for her blog. So, bad for her - good for us, the devoted readers.

She just posted a new mix, I Saw Your Face, that you really should be downloading right now and listening to in earnest.

After first hearing about the Paul King directed movie Bunny and The Bull I was curious if I\'d ever actually get to see.. as he is mostly known for his work on The Mighty Boosh and the notion of US distribution seemed slim. Fortunately, thanks to the power of the underground Internets, I procured a copy and watched it this weekend. It is, without a doubt, the most visually engaging film I\'ve watched this year. Much of my enjoyment of it stems from the Gondry-esque style execution of special effects; lots of stop motion, projected images, surreal settings treated entirely naturally, etc. It\'s great.

The acting is perfectly British and contained all the dry humor I have come to expect and enjoy so much from that crew of comedians. The story, at its core, is nothing new but it\'s the presentation and the journey throughout that makes it so compelling. I\'d suggest you watch some YouTube clips from it but, really, why spoil it? Just find yourself a copy and partake in the whole thing.

The latest in the ongoing series of Lake Fever Sessions is up and ready for consumption. The Sondre Lerche session is probably not something I would have predicted I would be enjoying prior to actually watching it but it certainly turned out well. The only record I am familiar with from him is Phantom Punch and I\'m sort of under the impression that it was an atypical undertaking from him. He sort of sounds like Rufus Wainwright to me but far less overly dramatic; just emotive and engaging with his voice. Maybe I\'ll need to partake in some of his other releases now that I\'ve heard these tunes...

Catbird Records just announced the release of their latest - Jason Zumpano\'s Room and Mansion. For a meager $8 you get a limited edition 12-song CD and two giclee prints by Sydney Vermont. Personally, I just buy everything that Catbird puts out and have yet to be disappointed. De Novo Dahl has put up a free EP for your downloading pleasure called Bobby Thompson Reels, Vol. 1. The music is an interesting mix of dance-y beats and loads of samples from interviews with legendary banjo session player Bobby Thompson (yea, I\'ve not heard of him either). It is not a formula you\'d think would work but it\'s an entertaining listen. Go download it and be sure to read the whole story behind it.

I think I would be remiss as an Internet blogger person if I didn\'t post a little something about Kitteh Roulette; an ever growing, random, archive of cat meme videos. The entertainment value of tons of cat videos in a row is just a bit on the fleeting side of things but it can provide a nice break every so often if you need it.

It\'s been awhile since I visited the Uniqlo UNIQLOCK but the refreshed Paris / France version was a welcome treat. The number of clips contained within is immense, as I\'ve been leaving it running for some time now and keep encountering something new. Any of the pieces you encounter with the Eiffel Tower in the background are superb but see if you can get the clip with the four girls just running down some stairs... adorable.

So, obviously, this past weekend was the big launch for the iPad and early adopters are going nuts, unsurprisingly. I got a chance to play with one and begun to understand what the hub-bub is all about; it really would be rather handy as a larger screen device lying about for entertainment based browsing or emailing. It won\'t replace the laptop entirely but it could certainly supplant how often the laptop gets used. Overall, I was curious about a few things:

• Will iPhone / iPod app development drop now that the iPad is out? Wouldn\'t a company (or enthusiast) rather design their app for the larger screeen and more robust processor of the iPad than they would the phone? Hopefully not but I could see there being a drop in the enthusiasm for iPhone apps.
• Is Apple working on a external gaming add-on for the iPad? It\'d make way more sense to make such a thing for the smaller form factor units but a simple joystick / D-pad and a few buttons would make their gaming department sort of untouchable.
• Can we get Netflix on the iPhone? - yes, yes we can. Soon. Just be patient (they say).

• Bill Pullman\'s ID4 Speech Dubbed in Spanish - I can\'t explain why I find this as amusing as I do.. but I do. I think it stems from my undying love of ID4 and dramatic overdubs.
• Exploring the Universe with Elijah Wood - amusing promo video for the forthcoming Apples in Stereo album. Well played.
• Old Spice Flex - this is absurd, then terrifying and then hysterically ridiculous - all in 30 seconds.

See that image to the left? That\'s what it looks like when I try to add a video to a playlist with a title longer than 25 characters. Does that look very useful to you? No, it does not. No option to expand, no smart tech to make the dropdown as wide as the longest title, not even a title tag to reveal the full thing. Nuthin.

Great job re-launching the site with a much cleaner layout and, as you perceive, a better emphasis on the \"important\" things. As with most major overhauls of sites I\'ve become accustomed to I really don\'t care for it but that will change over time - assuming that you keep tweaking things and fixing obvious horrible UI/UX oversights such as the one shown here.

Given that this article about Tom Schiller\'s semi-lost movie Nothing Lasts Forever was posted on April 1st, I sort of assumed there was no way it was legit... especially considering this description:

The gallery covers a lot of ground - from badass to vaguely terrifying to incredible to hysterical, it\'s got it all. One, I hope this Desk Phone Dock isn\'t an April Fools Joke. I\'ve no reason to believe that it is but, as I said earlier, you can\'t trust the web today. Two, I think if the handset were somehow wireless, I would be 100% game to have this in my house. I don\'t get a ton of calls and rarely miss one because I didn\'t hear the ringer from another room but there\'s a bit of nostalgia appeal with having a legit handset to use. It\'d be nice to have something that isn\'t quite as small as the iPhone for neck cradling and what not.

Rarely do I encounter a set of vinyl figures where I consider buying one or two pieces, much less an entire set. However, these Tic Toc figures have got me thinking it might be time to reconsider.. mythical beasts galore in a vaguely cutesy style. Seeing the Amanda Visell style converted to three dimensional piece is a pretty straightforward (and enjoyable) adaptation!

I don\'t think I\'d actually wear it but this Earth Rise tee manages to combine my love of subtle skulls and space explorers. A rarity indeed!

Given that it\'s April 1st today, it\'s tough to trust anything you see on the web. I\'m all for a good gag but appreciate it when it\'s absurd enough that I don\'t feel completely duped when I find out someone was kidding. That being said, here are a few April Fools put out there so far today that are amusing..

• Google renamed to Topeka - after Topeka announced they were renaming their city to \"Google\", Google decided to pay them back. Stupid but amusing.
• Starbucks introduces new cup sizes: Plenta and Micra - the images of the Plenta are awesome and, sadly, destined to be a reality one day.
• Dunkin\' Donuts Redesigns - had I not been notified of these new faux designs beforehand I would have no reason to believe this is an April Fools. It looks quite legit.

Not Shown:

• YouTube introduces TEXT mode - apparently Youtube has officially \"integrated\" Asciimeo style experiment and run it on their own videos.
• Healthcare Reform is a BFD - official tee in the Barack Obama store. Link loads extremely slow but you can see the tee here.
• Johns Hopkins now just John Hopkins - \"We\'re fighting a losing battle here. And we strongly suspect the extra \'s\' was a typo in the first place.\"

When a respected photographer friend like Bryan Schutmaat lets you know that he\'s helped launch the portfolio of a body of work some thirty years in the making, you take note. Peter Brown is a Houston based photographer who has been out and about documenting the world around him for a long time. His work is clean, sparse and emotive without trying. The photos I love the most are probably obvious but there is a fair amount of weirdness worth looking for as well.

The site is simple and easy to use, the work itself is gorgeous and I\'m willing to bet that there\'s a lot more on the way worth checking out.

So, for the past week, I made the switch over to Google Chrome as my default browser and have been giving it a whirl. The notion of a super lightweight, extremely fast, standards compliant browser is an appealing one and I had high hopes for embracing the change. However, I\'m fairly set in my ways with Firefox and find myself missing a handful of features that I can\'t go without. Here\'s the good and the bad of Chrome by my viewing:

Chrome Pros:

• Loads extremely fast
• Renders pages extremely fast
• Has built in \"bookmark save\" - so if your computer crashes, you can still get all your saved locations back instantly.
• Clean standard interface. Maybe not as pretty as Safari but not near as gross as Firefox default look.
• Downloads bar integrated into browser.. pretty nice.

Chrome Cons:

• No Firebug; this is a huge downfall for development. Yes, it has Firebug Lite, Web Developer tools and the Debug Panel but none of them are as good as Firebug.
• Weird Flash bug where buttons don\'t register as the hand cursor, making it difficult to see what is clickable.
• No multi-search, only the big address bar search straight to google - this is sub-par in comparison to the multi-search in Firefox.
• Sort of hate the tab system - I admit this is just because they are different but that makes it no less of a legitimate gripe.

There are more points on both sides of the coin but, on the whole, I\'m not ready to make the switch. I really wish Firefox wasn\'t such a bloated memory hog but the few other touches it provides make it worth it for me... for now.
