Some weeks I'm not quite confident that I have enough quality distractions to provide for a worthwhile Friday Videos compilation. Some weeks I'm excited to get them all into a list to enjoy them myself. This week is the latter, not the former.

• Ethel Smith - Tico Tico - start to finish, this is mesmerizing. The acting at the top is great and the organ playing is next level. Next planet even. Then it turns into an all out jamboree. Love.
• Chewbacca Overreacts - I shy from Star Wars material most of the time but this one got me just right. via Falfa.
• Bohemian Rhapsody: Hand Farts - yep, you read that right. And, yes, there are tons more.
• Dream a Little Dream of Me: Theremin - sometimes the dreadlocked guy in the Super Mario Bros shirt will surprise you with a heart wrenching theremin song.
• Jaden Smith Blows Your Mind - I can't tell if this is meant to be a joke or meant to be Art (capital A).
• Gordon Cole eats a Donut - is there a 10-hour version of this? I need it.
• PWR BTTM - Big Beautiful Day - looking forward to the next full-length from PWR BTTM and this video just adds to that interest. It could be chalked up to your standard grunge rock song but there's a mild pathos to their delivery that I can't deny.
• Lasagna Cat: Sex Survey Results - this really warrants its own post because it is such a massive undertaking that it's hard to appreciate in a playlist of weird videos. It's four hour long featuring phoned in results from a survey about sexual partners and actually changes over time. The sun sets, the lighting changes and the mannequins slowly become more and more warped. It's unbelievable how much work was put into this. And the very end takes a massive turn into something else entirely. Something NSFW and maybe Not Safe For Life (aka disturbing). via Robert.
• Megaplex End Credits - what's Megaplex? It doesn't matter. Just enjoy the credits starring every single actor and character you could hope to see at one time. via Lee.
• Guy destroyed after walking dog - perfection.

Happy that the Skyway Man record is out in the world, streaming everywhere. If you're in Nashville, please get yourself to the release show. It's going to be something special.

• David Lynch's La La Land - a masterful edit, though shouldprobably be even weirder.
• Trebek Raps - a whole category rapped by the infamous host. The music edit is pretty great too.
• Skyway Man - "Plane" - i keep watching this because it's such a bizarre, silly video paired with a song about a plane crash.
• "My Weekend" - I don't know what this is and I don't want any context. Maybe it's a cult, maybe it's a group of broken individuals working some stuff out or maybe something less nefarious but I don't want to know. Ignorance is bliss. Pure bliss.
• Black Holes - it's 11 minutes but worth the full watch. Absurdity abound: "It chronicles the journey of Dave The Astronaut and his partner, an intelligent melon, as they embark on the first ever human mission to Mars." So good.
• Magnificent Ambersons End Credits - Orson Welles narrates the end credits to this 1942 film. Can we bring back this style? via Austin.
• A Tribute to Peter - recently, Peter McArthur announced his departure from Vimeo. He's been with the company since the very beginning. This video compiles his ambient videos with this nonsense tweets - even if you don't know the guy, it's a peacefully hilarious viewing.

Lastly, please enjoy some Republicans getting their shit wrecked by constituents, it's wonderful.

I don't know what it is about that GIF but it embodies the perfect amount of energy and absurdity. You might even call it the ultimate gif. :troll:

There's a few weird videos sprinkled in this week, hope you're okay with that.

• death's dynamic shroud.wmv RARE EMOJI COLLECTION - everything from the title to the hynoptic, lo-fi, nature of the presentation is mesmerizing. Give a full 2 minutes and 30 seconds before you make any judgements.
• put_that_there.mpg - this is an honest vision of the future we are embarking on now, sent directly from the past.
• Skyway Man - Plane - from the forthcoming Seen Comin' From a Mighty Eye, out next Friday (Feb 24th). Enjoy!
• Advice King: Episode 4 - not my favorite of the four existing episodes but still damn funnier than a lot of things out there. Thank you Crofton and crew.
• Beyonce's Illuminati Performance Breakdown - if you didn't see Beyonce's Grammy performance, watch it first, and then listen to this guy rattle on about the Illuminati and symbolism throughout the performance. I'm not sure he's 100% wrong but I can't even tell what amount of this is earnest or joking.
• Big Baby DRAM - Cute - this guy is crushing it for me. Feel good all around.
• Bob Odenkirk Playing Stephen Colbert Playing Bob Odenkirk - I think that title says it all.
• YMO - Firecracker (Soul Train 1980) - love me some old Soul Train footage. Love me some Yellow Magic Orchestra. Together, they are gold.

There are already tons of Meme'd out variations on the above Lady Gaga Leap image but I wanted to just keep it pure and simple; because it's crazy enough as it is.

I've been traveling this week so the selection here will be slim but I think you'll enjoy:

• New Wave Country - I can bestow no finer gift than this. Watch every second. You won't regret it.
• Why? - there's lots of sidewalk in the world, why must you be so close?
• Makeup and Vanity Set - "Implant" - pretty great video cut together from Cyber Tracker.
• Satisfyingly Poking Sea Life - there is something extremely calm and meditative about this whole video. From the quiet narration to the actual creature reaction.

I'm hestitant to include Popee the Performer in the mix. It's bizarre but maybe too bizarre. I haven't decided yet.

• Budweiser "Born the Hard Way" - I kind of hate that Superbowl commercials come out before the game these days (the only reason to watch) but this commercial is incredibly poignant given the recent immigrant ban.
• Neko Atsume trailer - you know that iphone game where you tend to a yard of cats? Yea, that's a live action movie now.
• Moonpie Mania - I'm still deeply immersed in the archives of Carolina Camera. It's a breath of fresh air in our current times.
• Dwight Yoakam Gap Commercial - remember this gem from the late 90's? I legitimately enjoy this, except for those khaki skirts... not a fan.
• Disembodied Mouth Licks - what's a Friday video list without something completely unnerving and bizarre? You're welcome.
• Flight of the Bumblebee - stupid. Perfectly stupid.
• Lenny Kravitz "Fly Away" - I can always revisit this and it works as a reminder that there is good in the world.
• Longmont Potion Castle "Bash" - the weirdest prank calls in the world. More on this guy in the latest ReplyAll, along with a particular impactful second segment.

I almost included this but it may be too dumb to even enjoy. Jury is still out.

I wrote a whole thing about Inauguration Day and then deleted it. And then put it back. And then deleted it again. I don't really want to go on about how horrible I feel about the incoming Administration* because I don't think anyone really cares. Those who agree with me, agree with me. Those who don't, never will. So, I'll just throw this out there: Please, look at this. Am I wrong in thinking there is a massive disconnect from reality? Okay, that's it.

• Arturo Sandoval - A Night in Tunisia - it's nine minutes long and ebbs and flows between unbearable and unbelievable. Thanks Mike!
• Man Gives His Cat 11,453 Stern Looks - this is so stupid but excellent amusement. Also, it's almost an hour. Excellent.
• Super Sloppy, Semi-Automatic Double Dare! - Billy on the Street goes political with a long, non-street-based, gun control piece featuring physical challenges and Michael-Key! Loved it.
• Advice King - Episode 2 - in which Chris Crofton (the Advice King) gives insight on How to Write An X-Men Movie.
• Young Thug - Wyclef Jean - when your talent doesn't show up for your video shot, make magic. via Austin.
• Alexa says Beef - as an Alexa owner, this really amuses me more than it should.
• Alexa says Beef [ Fixed ] - I died.
• Running Man Trump - okay I couldn't resist at least one downer political video. "Enjoy" this comparison between the incoming Administration and the plot of 1987's Running Man.

* To be clear, I am not a sore loser that needs to "get over it" because I'd be fine with a conservative candidate defeating a liberal one. That's how Democracy works. It's this particular candidate winning that is so unsettling. As I mentioned here, I made the mistake of browsing Twitter replies last night and it's unsettlingly vitriolic. There are so many people lashing out and arguing over how Trump will bring our country back together. Let me repeat that - people are lashing out in a confrontational manner about how we're all going to come together under this new President. No sense of empathy. No sense of intelligence or compassion or understanding or even trying.

In case you missed it, Little Bandit is now officially part of the yk Records family. We'll be releasing music from the album in the coming weeks but look at that vinyl! You know you want some beautiful pink vinyl in your collection, right?

• Big Baby D.R.A.M. - Cash Machine - I've been on a DRAM binge lately. You should also enjoy his tracks Broccoli and Cha Cha (notice the Hotline Bling similarities) but you can't top Cash Machine.
• Look at this horse! - this guy is having a delightful time. The original is here but can't be embedded.
• Dimensional Warriors - phenomenal animation for the Locomotion Festival in Mexico City.
• Next Level Haircut - WHAT? Not the most compelling video but is this something happening all the time?
• Dip the Biscuit - stupid but terrifyingly enjoyable.
• Hike! - stupid lulz.

If you want more, get to know Peeqo, the GIF bot. The video isn't enthralling but the concept of a little desktop robot that responds to you, visually, with GIF's is kind of great.

• Dave Grohl Mugging - In trying to find the SNL skit from `93 with RuPaul I stumbled on this perfectly edited little gem with Nirvana recording a show promo.
• Andy Shauf "The Magician" - as previously noted, I've watched this so many times already and it continues to mesmerize me.
• Vrak Ident B - a simple looping illustration animation for a Bell Media TV station in Canada. Delightful. via Chad.
• Save the Phone - buncha bros doing some pool dunking. I hate myself for enjoying this, even slightly, but I do.
• All Horn Sounds (As Of Now) - take a 6 minute journey through a wonderful series of honks. I love the genuine enthusiasm for this hobby.

Here we go. The final Friday Videos of 2016 coincides with the break for the year. No more sitting at a desk on a regular basis means a much lighter blogging schedule. I was going to go with a Christmas heavy playlist but I'll try to keep it varietal.

• Big Dog, Funny Bark - I can not explain it but I have watched this video 50 times. This guys desperate little bark is perfection.
• The Monkees Christmas, 1986 - let's be clear, The Monkees time was over in the late 60's. While they will always have their charm, this mid 80's medley is as much cringe-worthy as it is endearing.
• Present Perfect Robot - because sometimes the stupidity of the Internet can still be amusing.
• Westworld RETRO Intro - a helluva reimagining. Love it.
• Dyke and Fats Save Christmas - whenever this gets turned into an actual SNL movie, I'll be first in line.
• Wish it was Christmas Today - there's a surprisingly rich history behind this song. Well, not really rich but more to it than you'd originally think.
• Classic 64 - if you haven't gone Nintendo 64 in awhile, it's probably time.

Christmas is right around the bend. It's that time when everyone's office is a little bit emptier, people move a little bit slower and we all spend a great deal of time reflecting on the year. I'll do plenty of that in the coming weeks but, for now, let us enjoy a mindless dump of entertaining videos.

• The Onion reviews Rogue One - I love The Onion movie reviews and this one really gives an excellent critique on the brand new Star Wars film. You will not get insight like this anywhere else.
• WHAM! - Last Christmas (Shittyfluted) - have you been keeping up with the Shittyfluted onslaught of Christmas songs? Some of them are truly shitty. This WHAM take is less shitty but still quite shitty.
• Vockah Redu - "Fantahsea (Shake Yo Bones)" - I was recently reminded of how awesome Vockah Redu's whole vibe is and thought you might enjoy a revisit as well.
• Martin Scorcese - God's Point of View - an excellent supercut of overhead shots compiled from Scorcese's finest.
• Skyway Man - "The Shadow Knows" - little bit of cross promotion here but if you're curious to hear another sneak peek at the forthcoming Skyway Man record, here's your chance.
• Nice, Ron - an oldie but a real goodie.

• Farfel and Nestle, 1992 - Farfel the Dog is from the 50's and was resurrected in the early 90's for a Nestle commercial. It's terrifying in the best way.
• Secret World of Stuff, Supercut No 1 - adorable short animations of random things around your world. via kottke.
• Jon Sudano - Wonderwall - if you are not aware of Jon Sudano's archive of covers, take a moment to dive in a bit. Songs you know, with Smashmouth lyrics. All of them. Every single one. via Daniel.
• The 25 Best Films of 2016 - this is, admittedly, 13 minutes and I know you don't have that much time on your hands but it's an impressive homage to the past year in film.
• How David Blaine Barfs Frogs - I assume you saw that clip where David Blaine blew some minds, here's how he did it. The answer is Occam's Razor.
• Okey Dokey - Congenial Man - I try not to post too many music videos in a Friday video list if I can help but this I'm loving everything I've heard from these guys so far (okay, two songs) and enjoy the video quite a bit.
• Jurassic Park Melodica Cover - I know it's coming every time and it still gets me every time.
• Julian Casablancas - I Wish It Was Christmas Today - take a silly SNL skit have Julian Casablancas cover it, play on repeat.

December already, huh? That time of year when we round up our favorites from the previous eleven months and do our best to wind down for a little bit. At least, that's how I see it.

• The VVitch as Wes Anderson Movie - on one level, this works as a funny editing exercise. On another level, it doesn't work at all because The VVitch was terrifying and no amount of pink lettering can offset that fear.
• Doot Star - and here's a Shrek'ed out Skull Trumpet playing Smash Mouth; just to keep things balanced in the world.
• Go-Go Dancer Loop - there are various TV's all around the Vimeo office that you can put any video up on, looping forever. This is a perfect candidate and has been pleasing our office all week.
• Walk the Dinosaur - in hunting down various versions of the Was (Not Was) classic, we stumbled on this bizarre Chuck-E-Cheese fan video. It's a video that goes from weird and cutesy (for kids!) on a brief watch and becomes unbearable and nightmarish the more you subject yourself to it. I assume most kids programming works this way.
• Unrest in Westworld - how about a Protomen song blended with the original Westworld film? Yep, perfect.
• All I Want For Christmas is Halloween - a pretty good song featuring some adorable little ghouls.
• Big Black Delta - Bitten by the Apple - the official video for this great song off of Tragame Tierra is perfect.
• Thunder - I shouldn't have but I died laughing.

Going with a classic for the cover art this week. With Thanksgiving hanging heavy in the air, it just makes sense to pay tribute to the best Pizza Rolls Distraction GIF out there.

• Goddesses of Creation - a ridiculous 'cut for time' SNL sketch. I'd watch a full 22 minutes of this.
• Bev n Bob - Bring Me to Life - there's a deep hole of Bev n Bob videos to explore but this seems like the best place to start. via Paige.
• Cher and David Bowie Medley - for a brief moment, Bowie sings Nilsson. Overall, they really tear through a dense medley.
• Raccookin' Pumpkin Pie - Geico nails this parody with some Raccoon cooking tutorials. Feels weird posting a blatant ad but I legitimately enjoy it. Also, there's more.
• The Glass Menagerie - I Said Goodbye to Me - stumbled on this late 60's band covering Nilsson. They never put out a full record but it sounds like they should have.
• The Moon is a Planet - some really uplifting arguing on QVC about the moon.
• Lazy Town - We Are Number One (Dank Edition) - this one goes deep. Many references here that should not be understood. It's weird but oddly infectious. There, I said it.

My weeks at work have been extremely intense as of late, so I don't have a ton of time to browse and cull together massive lists of distractions for you. That being said, I'll do my best here.

• Bobby Jones presents Michelle Branch, The Spirit Room - there's not much here but I'm baffled by why this exists. Check out his video list, there's more than one of these. It's a remarkably absurd thing.
• Michael Kiwanuka - One More Night - loving the alternative format of this video (ultra ultra widescreen) and the reveal is pretty great.
• PWR BTTM - Carbs - these guys have plenty of legit, great songs but this is a particularly ridiculous gem.

Alright folks, let's do our damndest to enjoy some levity and distraction. Not always the healthiest move in the long term but feels good in the short term.

• Whose Mom Is This? - miserable music, solid moves.
• Youtube VR app - semi-literally immerse yourself in YouTube. Is there a Lawnmower Man 360 experience yet?
• Trashcan Beatdown - the triumph of spirit.
• Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets - Luc Besson has a questionable track record but I'll watch this, why not?
• Jason at Adobe Max - been sitting on this gem from Jez for awhile. It's delightfully miserable.
• Raccoon Compilation - I openly admit my obsession with The Pet Collective is absurd but I can't not love on a raccoon compilation. These lovable scamps are undeniable.
• Uptown Funk You Up - I believe they call this Pure Bliss.
• Bill Bailey's Message to Metallica - wait for it. Don't skip ahead. Just wait for it.

You know what I discovered this week? Giphy Originals. I can only assume these folks are Giphy Staff just throwing a bunch of reactions your way to use whenever you'd like. Hopefully they start sprouting up in your /giphy calls in Slack. Also, Floating Hamburgers.

• Look at this Cat! She Thinks She's a Show Horse - the music is a real added treat.
• Idiots - an affable British man implores you to help America "Be the Bigger Moron." Election Day is Tuesday. Let's not screw it up.
• Samantha Bee's Trump Conspiracy Theory - she makes a compelling case. At least as compelling as any of the mud slung at Clinton and certainly much funnier.
• How I Became the Bomb - Break Hearts - if you missed this post earlier this week, don't sleep. Great video.
• Foxygen - Follow the Leader - do you miss the days when a 70's fop could prance around a playground and it wasn't creepy? Well, Foxygen got you covered.
• Bill Murray sings Take Me Out to the Ballgame - there's plenty of great video of Bill Murray losing his mind in elation after the Cubs win and this piece of him singing as Daffy Duck is a nice gateway into the madness.
• This is the way I want you to drink it - another prime example of how context can ruin a thing. Just enjoy, don't ask questions.
• Doggo's Adventure - waiiiit for it.
