I realize I've been posting a whole lot about
yk records lately and I'm sorry if that's not the sort of thing you come here to read about. It's a passion project of mine that really seems to be hurdling forward at the moment and I just can't stop myself from cross posting.
That being said, please go listen to the new
Jay Leo Phillips record, preorder that new
Makeup and Vanity Set and get familiar with the latest from
Slowmotions; as I'm sure you'll hear more about that in the coming weeks as well.
If you are still reading, thank you.

Tons of
yk records news this week. Hopefully that doesn't bother anyone that comes to this site on a regular basis. Please take some time to have a listen to the new
Birdcloud album, the first track from
Jay Leo Phillips and the newest
Slowmotions track. I believe you'll enjoy them all greatly.
On to the distractions! Oh, and if you live in the path of Hurricane Matthew, please
be safe.
Also, please enjoy
this; delightful.

If you haven't listened to the first track from the newly announced
Slowmotions album, please
do so now. I think you're gonna love it and more songs will be released in the coming weeks. Oh, and a few more
albums will be announced as well. Hope you're into that.
If you haven't heard
this episode of ReplyAll, make time for it this weekend. Internet Meme meets politics.
On to the goodies!
- Psychogenic Fugue - what would you say if I told you that there's a 20-minute short film, funded by Squarespace, that features John Malkovich portraying seven famous scenes and characters from David Lynch films? There's also a soundtrack of David Lynch music performed by the likes of the Flaming Lips and Angelo Badalamenti. Yea, you'd doubt it was real. But it's very real and the trailer is pretty awesome.
- Introducing G Suite - you may not be excited by new Google offerings but the style of this ad is phenomenal.
- Mamy Yoko - after a stressful week this feels like the perfect break. On repeat for days. Via Chad.
- Pen Pineapple Apple Pen - sometimes it's best to know as little about a thing as possible. This is a great example.
- Teddy Ruxpin is Back - and they made the eyes creepier than ever. I look forward to the future memes exposing this nightmare fuel.
- 80's SynthAxe Demo - I don't suggest watching the entire 14 minute demo but just scrub through and appreciate the presentation of such an awesome looking absurdity.
- SpaceX Interplanetary System - kind of an insane ad from Elon Musk and SpaceX showing how a Mars colony could exist. It's slow and not that compelling but bonkers to think that this is going to be a real thing, likely in our lifetime.
You may also be interested in
Trump Sniffs Compilation or
Trump Beat ISIS but I can't bring myself to enjoy anything involving this truly horrible person.

I've got a lot of exciting things in the works for
yk records and I can't wait to start sharing them. I'm tightening up release schedules and preparing some new sites for the coming months. I know Fall is not everyone's favorite time to release records but these are gonna be great. I hope you're excited too.
Anyway, I know why you're here. Let the distractions commence:
- Jimmy Fallon loves Donald Trump - lots of hub-bub last week when Fallon had Trump on his show and treated him like a goofy little so-and-so. Anyone that thinks we shouldn't expect more of Fallon should read this. Anyway, not getting political because Super Deluxe reworked the clip brilliantly and accurately.
- Save the Day - a talking heads video filled with celebrities reminding you to vote. Standard issue stuff until they break the fourth wall and mock themselves. It works.
- Deer and Bunny Playing - I don't care how AFHV this is, it warms the heart.
- Bertie Higgins - Key Largo - this song is enjoyable but the video leaves me with many questions. What is his necklace? Is that woman his lover? His daughter? Is a sweater appropriate beach wear? Is a sports coat and hawaiian shirt coming back? Is it already over?
- I Can Go For Sax - I just wanted to let you all know that I still listen to this regularly and still love it.
- LA Gifathon - you may recall the NYC Gifathon. This is the same but more LA.
There's also
this new auto-lacing Nike show (it's real) and
Hillary on Between Two Ferns. Enjoy.

I have no idea what that Nicolas Cage GIF is from and
I don't want to know. My ignorance allows my imagination to conjure any number of situations in which this may have occured and they are all infinitly better than finding out it's just a loop from a movie. Ignorance truly is bliss when concerning Nicolas Cage.
- Rapping ToastDogs - my expectations were low and my enjoyment was off the charts. HT @misscrisp
- Leafblower Volcano - I can't help but think I've seen this before but the finale was such a treat it's worth reseeing.
- Yaaas Pokemon - perfectly stupid.
- Phantom of Paradise - every few years, this Brian de Palma film comes through my life and I'm reminded how empty my life is for still not having watched the entire thing.
- Wake Me Up - can you tell that I've been diving back into YouTube Haiku?
- Phil Lynott - Old Town - I was not until recently that I learned the singer of Thin Lizzy had some solo material. It's good. Real good. Thanks Austin.
- Dancing Man - my buddy Jamie is coming into town this weekend and there's nothing he enjoys more than an enthusiastic dance expression. This is for him.
I also really enjoyed
this and
this but didn't want to overwhelm you with absurd short clips. Or maybe I do.

Got any good weekend plans? What's new in your life? Things going okay? Great, I'm glad to hear it. You look a little stressed? Maybe you should just stop working, relax a little and distract yourself with some meaningless, ridiculous videos? Here you go.
While you're at it, you might enjoy
this. I did.

one of these gems but, ultimately, I think I made the right call.

As previously mentioned, it's
Weird Fears birthday! So, go
listen to that today and then go see Mount Sharp in Brooklyn tomorrow night. Gonna be good.
On to the madness...
- Ben Dover at Newsmeum - First, be aware that there is a Newsmeum that lets anyone record their own news report and the full archive is unbelievable. Your entire weekend is now booked watching these loonies. second, thanks to Sage Boggs for making the world aware of this. Ben Dover, shown in the above video, is a pure reflection of the awkwardness in all of us. Just don't miss out on Bill, Dancin' Ashley or this compilation either.
- San Francisco Dog Bumpers - I want to watch this on repeat for days.
- DJ Shadow - Nobody Speak - take this video, re-film it and put it to a badass song. Magic. (NSFW language)
- Antonio Banderas: Hacker - there's a lot to enjoy here but I think the computer interface may be the best part... and that's saying a lot.
- Japanese McDonalds ads - I dunno how I ended up here but I highly enjoyed this strange compilation of early 80's McDonald's ads from Japan.
- Otter Juggling Stones - you now have a new aspirational goal to reach. Be this happy.
- The Secrets of "Daydreaming" - Rishi Kaneria goes deep inspecting the meaning behind Radiohead's epic video and song. I think it's safe to say there are some giant leaps being taken here but it's still interesting to see it dissected.

Remember that the new
Birdcloud is available for
pre-order. It's a hefty price tag but the packaging is deluxe!
- Bobby Badfingers - Dueling Banjos - honestly, this is the only video I should post this week. It has everything an individual needs for Internet Sustenance.
- Squirrel GoPro POV - in my heart of hearts, I know this was faked somehow. I choose to believe it is real.
- Rogue One - Sabotage - a recut Star Wars trailer to Beastie Boys "Sabotage" should be something I could turn my nose up to but I absolutely can not. Pretty dang perfect.
- Lasagna Cat 4/25/1979 - how long has it been since you visited the weirdness of Lasagna Cat? Too long I'm sure. Go for the bad Garfield, stay for the bad music video.
- The Most Accurate Hacking Scene Ever - I couldn't even make it through the whole scene but the initial visualizations of the hack were well worth it.
- Batman Converses with Himself - for everyone that ever made fun of Christian Bale's gruff voice in the Dark Knight series, see the other side of the coin.
- Don't Hug Me I'm Scared Hidden Lore - I have taken a deep dive into this Youtube theory videos. The narration can be a bit burdeonsome but the content is worth a ponder. I am convinced that show has levels we have yet to understand.
If you're looking for somewhat disgusting but oddly entertaining visuals for your day, head over to
Trimp, a tumblog of the best & worst variety or watch
this video. They're unrelated but equally disturbing.

Biggest news this week, the release of
Uncle Skeleton's new record
Cocoa Beach. You can hear it anywhere music is available -
Spotify,
on vinyl if that's your thing.
Oh, and
this guy. Forever.
- DANIELS - Nike Ad - hot on the heels of their full-length movie, Swiss Army Man, comes a Nike commercial that feels sorta normal at first and then takes a deep plunge into weirdness. Just like you'd expect from DANIELS.
- Chef No. 5 - Mambo No 5 was made for this.
- Mark Ronson - Feel Right - somehow I'd never seen this video for the Mystikal heavy song. Perfect.
- Sonic and Mario Cut Scene - this is a slow burn but if you can stand in there, it's weirdness is worth your time.
- PJ Harvey "The Wheel" (Live) - not really a funny video but I had no idea PJ Harvey could wail on a saxophone. Love it.
- Don't Hug Me I'm Scared 6 - I just watched what I assume is the finale last night and am floored by how dark they managed to go with this series. Heavy.
- Orion Beach - an oldie but still a goodie. Perfect for summer.

Fact, before sleep most nights I cruise around imgur and fill my head with delightful nonsense. It helps break up the bad news of the day. You stumble upon gems like
this guy or
this guy. It works. Try it out.
I haven't dug in yet but this episode of
First We Feast with David Cross torturing himself with Hot Wings looks fairly promising.
Oh, and if you're looking to tickle your nostalgia bone, dive deep into the
Nintendo Power magazine archives. You'll never forget that creepy claymation cover of issue 1.

Sorry for the giant cover image this week but I get great delight from imagining staring down the face of a dolphin that just wants to give you a
little kiss. The horror is real.
Please enjoy my
Q2 mix and get some solid giggles out
this guy and
this labradolphin.
- America - lots of positive feelings about America this week but let's not forget what we're really about. A Taco Bell parking lot fight while you order your fast food. via Adam.
- Fan.tasia - there are mashups and then there is this thing. The editing and merging of characters and scenes is insane. When you're done with that, revisit Pogo, my favorite from this genre.
- Stranger Things references - you know how everyone says Netflix Stranger Things is referencing a bunch of 80's movies? Here's the side-by-side.
- Treasure Dance - I feel equal parts bad and very amused.
- Rick and Morty Court Transcript - at Comic-Con lastweek, Justin Roiland read a Georgia court transcript set to an animatic. It's vulgar and ridiculous but works so well as Rick and Morty.
- Morgan and Morgan - Morgan and Morgan and Morgan and Morgan

I am in LA this weekend attending a good friend's wedding. If there are things I
must see while I am out here, please
let me know.
- The Life of Death - a delightful animation. Have watched many times.
- Tower Defense - Glyphs - if you didn't see it earlier this week, the new music for Tower Defense is a good one
- Kylo Ren Outtakes - Star Wars videos are such low hanging entertainment fruit, sometimes they can not be avoided.
- BorkBusters - an excellent palette cleanser for all things Ghostbusters related.
- Jon Stewart on Colbert - Not even a mild misstep here. I miss my Stewart news skewering.
- Futurama - Fan-O-Rama - you know how everyone says puppets and practical effects are always better than CGI? Sometimes the opposite is true and the practical effects and pure nightmare fuel.
It's a lengthy one but
this profile on Bruce William Zaccagnino and his
world's largest miniature train setup is actually fantastic. I've seen this in person and the size of it is hard to comprehend.

What a week! Pokemon Go explodes on to the world and there's absolute travesty's in Paris. Can we have
one good week? Just one! Okay, maybe more than one but
let's just start there.
Enjoy these videos as a means of distraction.
- Possessed Keyboard Player - when you do something, go all in. This girl
does not half-ass it in the slightest. In fact, everyone around here is crushing it but I dare you to take your eyes off her. Bad. Ass. via Becky.
- Stuck Up with Contact Cement - if anyone ever asks you to cite an example of Classic Comedy, steer them to this delightfully wacky individual. Sure it's an act but he really goes for it. via John.
- What is Happening? - nice reveal with this clip from Black Mirror.
- Meowtallica - I can not lie, I think these renditions are phenomenal.
- Super Ultra Seinfeld 3D - if Seinfeld made a movie today, this is how directors would ruin it. It's a dumb joke but the song. My god, the song.
- Yeeee - I call this "Weird Beyond Words." I will watch it 1,000 times.
Oh, and if you didn't see
this yet. You're welcome.

This week in the news was
rough to say the least. I don't have any inspiring words to share about the ongoing violence - both against minorities and police offices. I'm speechless at the state of things lately and I hope we can all figure out a way to come to terms with a way to fix it.
But in light of that, here's some distracting videos. Because there's no better way to solve a problem than to not think about it at all, right? When in times of trouble, fire up the
live BearCam for some serenity!
- Nivea: Care from the Air - did you see the sunscreen defecating seagull? You really should.
- Batman vs Riddler - I normally don't go much for the CollegeHumor skits but, for me, it's hard to deny the enjoyability of a very Dumb Batman.
- Deal With It Robot - Simone Giertz builds yet another useless robot. Don't care for it? Deal With It.
- Major World Espanol - this car lot in New Jersey has the most delightful owners. I can't understand a word of their banter but their energy levels are infectious. If you are, try out the extended infomercial version, it's a delightful trainwreck.
- Cat is Hungry - I could bother to look up the context of this but I enjoy it more in the realm of total absurdity.
- Dinosaur Jr, Tiny - loving this song and the video is pretty entertaining too.
I also recommend watching this bonkers short film,
The Was, featuring new music from The Avalanches and a absurdly huge mashup of films and TV seamlessly cut together. Ridiculous.

Do you watch Jon Oliver? His joke
last week on the Brexit about Britain celebrating their own "Independence Day" was too funny. Trust me, it was good. You should watch it. I chuckled aloud for real.
If videos are not your thing for whatever reason, please enjoy
these Zoo Signs,
these idiot kids and these
Delightful Dogs. If you
do enjoy videos, here you go!

Pretty sparse in the blog department this week!
VHX had our final week in our lovely Brooklyn office and we've made the transition to the new
IAC / Vimeo building over in the Meatpacking District. Aside from all the packing up of a whole office, we also took one last company retreat. Oh, and I flew to Nashville to visit family. Oof. Lots going on!
But despite that, I'll still cobble together some absurd distractions for you!
- When the Lights Come on in the Club - I'm sure there is a perfectly reasonably explanation for this but I refuse to believe anything except Pure Mayhem for the man rolling around in a carpet.
- Clown Core Pizza Party - If this has been posted previously I wiped the nightmare from my mind. Now it's back.
- It's Always Sunny in London - I wouldn't have thought so before I watched it but this is kind of a perfect skewering of the mess Britain just made.
- Google G-Board - really thoughtful ad for the new Google keyboard.
- SpotMini - you know those horrifying Boston Dynamics robots? Yea well, they went and put a "face" on one and shrunk it down. Extra terror.
- Subway Idiot 2 - tons of work for a silly, effective, joke. Loved every second of this. Will watch again and again. Thank you Steve.

Fun fact: I'm home alone this weekend and plan to tear through a bunch of lingering freelance projects. That's right, when left to my own devices I decide to just work more. Super fun lifestyle,
right? Let's hope this bears fruit for everyone in the near future. On to the distractions!
I've also been diving into
this archive of ridiculousness and
this repository of misleading thumbnails and have been quite entertained.
Oh, and as a heavy handed reminder, scrounge up whatever pennies you can find this weekend and find a way to donate to
Everytown. I'd love to not have another weekend filled with tragic gun violence news and the only way that's going to happen is by fueling an advocacy group with enough money that they can be a legit heavyweight in this absurd Second Amendment political bru-hah-hah we've been having.

Let's get right into it. I've had a crazy week and, fortunately, the Internet has provided a solid bevy of distractions and treats to delight.
- Kazoo Kid - Trap Remix - my jaw dropped upon viewing this and I continue to marvel at how much I want to keep rewatching it. Mind = Blown. Thank you Dave and this playlist.
- John Hetlinger karaokes Drowning Pool - the description won't sell you until you discover that John Hetlinger is 80 years old.
- Forever Blowing Bubbles - I have never seen a dog do this before and probably never will again.
- 2001: A Picasso Odyssey - Deep Dream applied to Stanley Kubrick through the lens of Pablo Picasso. Helluva combination.
- Anticipation - I've seen this video before but the musical pairing takes it up a notch.
- The Strokes - Drag Queen - this latest video was either ripped from Tumblr or just directly inspired by it. It's unclear which but, either way, it's a good retro watch.
- Abdul Greeting - next time you're on television doing a high-energy dance routine in front of cameras and a live audience, tell me you wouldn't have the exact same reaction this girl does (around the 30 second mark).
- The Family Auto Mart - how have I never seen any of these? Madness for nearly ten minutes.
- Saint Pepsi - Enjoy Yourself - good to see this Mac Tonight footage getting paired so perfectly.
