• Why CG Sucks (Except It Doesn't) - nice rundown of the complaints people make about CG vs Practical effects and how the complainers are a little off base. Computers aren't the problem, story is.
• Birdcloud - No Worries - the most enjoyably crass duo are back with a new batch of songs. New videos are released every week, this is the latest
• Late Night Work Club: Strangers - the amazing LNWC is back with a new project, debuting Winter 2015.
• What Do Machines Sing Of? - find out what happens when you ask a robot to sing classic R&B hits. Let it sink in and you just might feel a real twinge of emotion. via John.

• Adavi Donga Songs - this is the sort of thing I'd usually tag on the end of Friday Videos to say "look how nuts this is!" but it's so good that we should all appreciate it right off. Watch the whole thing, Please!
• Beyonce Chicken Dance - if you told me this was real, I would not doubt you for a second.
• Hard Copy 1991 - an investigative report on a found video tape and an unsolved murder... or maybe just lost footage from a Nine Inch Nails video.
• Tame Impala - Cause I'm A Man - when I thought about the video for this song I imagined exactly zero things depicted here. This is so far off the wall it's hard to explain. 80's CG to the extreme. I think it's so bad it's good but it might just be too weird to tell.
• Mini Mansions - Cheap Leather - not my favorite song from their latest record but a good one nonetheless. This video goes through a treasure trove of glitchy DVD effects, so it wins me over.
• Workin' In a Cocktail Bar - stick with it. The absurdity gets better and better as it goes along. via.
• Fox TV - literally, foxes for 97 minutes. Not exactly a thrilling video but great background fodder for myself.

• Jurassic Park: High Heels Edition - the GIF is actually funnier than the trailer but both are nice commentary on the absurdity of the worst part of Jurassic World, the high heels.
• Rue McLanahan Cat Party - maybe this is super old but I don't care, it's my absolute new favorite combination of words.
• Reflektor Tapes First Look - Arcade Fire documentary seems like an inevitable thing, which it was. Because here's the first teaser for it.
• Batman covers Kiss From A Rose - I openly admit to how stupid this is but I can't resist the enjoyment it brings.
• Here We Go Magic - Falling - new song and video from a consistently enjoyable band.
• Fargo Season 2 - this show feels like a critics favorite but not really widely enjoyed by the masses. This is unfortunate because Season 2 looks like it will be even better than the first, a hard task by every stretch.
• PIXELS, the review - sometimes you encounter a diatribe of the perfectly worded and executed vitriol and can't help but love it. I watched this entire 10 minute review of Pixels and would watch it again in a heartbeat. I'm not surprised the movie is awful but I am pleased at this takedown. Do yourself a favor and just watch the original short that they bought the rights to - it's 1,000x better.

This feels like one of those good weeks. The list of distractions may be shorter than usual but they are serious quality. Enjoy.

• Chuck Jones - Evolution of an Artist - great Every Frame a Painting piece on the wonderful world of Looney Tunes as forged by Chuck Jones. via Austin.
• Yo La Tengo "Friday I'm In Love" - from the forthcoming album of Yo La Tengo covers, Stuff Like That There. This Cure cover is paired with the perfect juxtaposition of terrible things happening. via Rachel.
• A Tribute to Huell Howser - if you aren't losing your mind in laughter when this man says "Juxtaposition" you are not living your life properly. Choice quotes that boggle the mind everywhere here. What an absolutely delightful person. via Forest.
• Ragu Thick and Hearty (19??) - I mean, there are no words for this gem. None. via Davis.
• Embroidered Zoetrope - brilliant little piece of art here. Embroidered animations that fit a turntable and filmed as stop animation.
• Peggy Olson - Started from the Bottom - truth be told, I'd love it if this sync'ed up a little better but the vision of Mad Men's Peggy being a total badass just warms the heart.
• Die Woodys - Fichtl's Lied - Words elude me in regards to how much I enjoy this. via King of the Internet.

This video features surfing zombies and, surprisingly enough, it is absolutely gorgeous. Seriously, it's a beautiful video of rotting flesh on top of surfboards.
• Joey Ciccoline - Fourth - some really wonderful footage from Joey Ciccoline from last weeks celebration. This is not your regular fireworks display video. Wonderful.
• Heaters - Mean Green - Dance moves for your dance catalog. via Rudy
• You're the one that I Want (Death Metal Style) - you know, I thought this would be absurd, ridiculous and hilarious... and it is.
• F*ck That: A Guided Meditation - how about a little vulgarity in your zen? It really works.

• MarI/O - kind of a nerdy one but I was fascinated watching this neural network learn how to play Super Mario World.
• The Pearl of the Costa Grande - sometimes you see a skit on Vimeo and remember that it really can be the home of cinema level visuals and real funnies.

• Moontrap Trailer - late 80's sci-fi at its finest. You don't even need to see the movie after watching this, cause you'll have seen it all.
• Steve Jobs on Music Subscriptions - turns out, in 2003, Jobs was convinced music subscriptions were a terrible idea. Or, at the very least, that's the way he spun it. Interesting change in just a small amount of time.
• Steve Jobs Pissed Off Moments - just for good measure, a compilation of Jobs being a real prick.
• Tipsy DARPA Robots - some of these flipouts will become dance moves, mark my word.
• Bully - Trying - local Nashville band releases their first official video off their forthcoming full-length Feels Like.
• Fidlar - 40oz On Repeat - a mediocre song but a tribute to all things 90s, mostly with cardboard. Relive your younger days with this new, meh, song!
• Bladerunner B-Roll Cut - 45 minute cut of Bladerunner comprised mostly of b-roll footage. That is literally all I know about this.

• Wes Anderson's The Shining - I typically don't go for these kinds of mash-ups but this combo of The Shining and Grand Budapest is too good not to enjoy.
• Garage Door Bucket List - 91-year old man checks off his #1 item on his bucket-list, ramming a car into a garage door. Well done sir.
• Tame Impala - Cause I'm a Man - I just love this band and this song. The puppets are a bonus.
• Project Soli - not a funny or wacky video but a fascinating exploration of future technology. Micro gestures are on the horizon and here's the tech that will power them.
• Beirut - No No No - unfortunately it's not even a music video but a new Beirut song is a win for the week in my view.
• Horse Apples, Closeups - Wonder Showzen Deleted Scene - five minutes of zoom in all crunched together. It's an abrasive delight.
• In Praise of Chairs - if anyone can make chairs in film appealing, it's Tony Zhou. Awesome.

• Temporary Secretary Live Debut - despite being in the McCartney catalog for a long time, this is the live debut of it. It's every bit as awkward as the recording but lovable specifically because of that.
• Hackerman's Hacking Tutorial - just another Kung Fury teaser for you to be convinced to get into this wacky short.
• Trapos - Superstition - I have no idea what this series is but the Rag characters are one part Menomena and one part Mighty Boosh. It's weird and I'm glad to be ignorant to its intentions.
• Teen Men - Adventure Kids video - I shared this earlier in the week but if you haven't caught this HazelSt creation, do so now.
• Berlin 1945 - color footage of Berlin after the bombing. Not so much funny as it is fascinating. The sound design also makes it feel even weirder and sadder given the destruction.
• Sam Prekop - A Geometric - very atmospheric, ambient piece of work from Prekop but I like it. Good mood piece to improve your day.
• The Chips - "Rubber Biscuit" - going to make this my first Summer Jam.

I'm also looking forward to this, as every season has been great.

• Mad Men Series Finale Alternative Ending - no, this has nothing to do with the GIF above. And, yes, spoilers within if you haven't seen the finale yet.
• Redrawing Taylor Swift - Shake it Off Rotoscoped - 49 students were given 52 frames of Shake It Off and redrew it in whatever style they wanted. Results are compelling just for the ADD nature of it all.
• Maya Rudolph Commencement - a bit of an endurance challenge but the funny moments are pretty absurdly on point.
• Bloodsport Mentos Commercial - I'll be honest, I've never seen Bloodsport and if you showed me this and told me it was an honest-to-god Mentos commercial, I'd believe you without hesitation. via Lee.
• What is Dropbox? - yes, you know what Dropbox is but this is a nice new ad from them. Apparently worked on by some familiar faces.
• Golden Age of Knowledge 2013 - this is a seven-minute commercial for a series of books. It's slow at first but it gets continuously more absurd. How is this real? How is it seven minutes?! via John
• SHEER MAG - Fan The Flames - I've listened to this song a good 20 times this week. The distorted vocals are just fascinating to my ears.. and the visuals are unexpected and delightful.
• Final Letterman Top Ten - Letterman's final show was the end of an era and it's good to see him going out on a nice high note.
• Letterman's Final Thank You - to me, it's rare to see honest outpouring of emotions on TV. It's not exactly a medium designed for authenticity, so it's good to take in these moments. Letterman wasn't a big part of my life or leaving a hole in television / Internet viewing but I applaud him for all he's done.

• Rick & Morty Simpsons Crossover - it's a great Adult swim gag that crosses over into the Simpsons universe and then into the Futurama universe. Should I be watching this show? I loved this.
• Emotional Titanic Flute - the best part of this is that it's over 4 minutes long. That's a lot of emotion.
• Better If You Didn't - Step Out of the Way - the first episode of my friends new skit show is up. If we're being perfectly honest, I'm not that keen on the intro so start here and enjoy!
• Suturing a Grape - tiny, delicate, robot hands suture up a grape skin. I believe a human doctor is driving this thing but you can easily foresee a future where these little nanobots take care of us. We're basically indestructible now.
• Guy talking Sh*t to a possum - I'm not a possum hater. I think they can be cute in their own way. Despite that opinion, this guy talking shit at one is pretty funny.
• Edubb - Whooty - apparently this is what my girlfriend listens to at work all day. She really leads a secret life. ;)
• Tim & Eric - Music is Four Songs - when you hear that Dell, you know.
• Spoon - Inside Out - slow panning Spoon music video goodness.

• Ferris Plock: Inside Voices - nothing like a coupla cardboard Ferris Plock outfits representing the duality of the brain battling it out with skateboard jousting and beer crushing. Seriously, nothing like it.
• Sid loves food (compilation) - this dog is unbelievable.
• Paul Robertson Super Dino Boys v3 - I posted about parts 1 and 2 previously so you must be as invested as I am in wanting to see how this pixel perfection animation plays out.
• Paul Robertson Super Dino Boys v4 - aaaaaand the finale. My creativity crush on Paul Robertson just grew 10x.
• Bounce - I am mesmerized by the seemingly lackadaisical dance moves in this video. It's entrancing. Be sure to stick with it through the end.. nice little twist in the third act.
• The Fermi Paradox — Where Are All The Aliens? - nice educational piece on The Fermi Paradox; i.e. are we alone in the universe? The answer seems a bit disappointing but the animation within is great.
• Wings: The Alternate London Town - not really a video but a whole alternate album of Wings songs that grabbed my attention this week. Thanks John.

It's May. In New York this means 50 degree temperatures. Can't say I'm a fan. Regardless, lots of travel coming up this month to some warmer regions. Looking forward to some legit spring!

• Cat Riding Magic Carpet (A Whole New World) - I neglected to include this video last week and, frankly, it's one of those classics that delights at any time. Watch it twice.
• Tidal - End The Suffering - only the British could properly pull of this little skewering. It's pretty much impossible for mega-rich people to undertake schemes to become more mega-rich without looking like a buncha jerks.
• Dog in a fountain - Spring. This is how I wanna feel.
• RATATAT - CREAM ON CHROME - apparently these fluorescent lights were developed by Anamanaguchi.. nice effect. Great to hear RATATAT return.
• MLC 2012 - Competitive juggling championships. I can say no more.
• Best News Bloopers 80s and 90s - News bloopers are choice but vintage design bloopers are just slightly better.

• Life's Short. Stunt It! - Best of the week, easily. These kids are extreme and flaunt it perfectly.
• Moaning - "The Same" (OFFICIAL) - remember music videos in the 90's with a bunch of slacker kids tearing up a place and having a generally good, but generally chaotic, time? No need to recall, those days are back. I don't disapprove.
• Good Scratch - quite possibly the best new Internet Superstar. Those lyrics are on point! via John
• What if Man of Steel was IN COLOR? - interesting argument for going for a more natural color correction in the Superman movies. I like it.
• Rebel Force Band - Living In These Star Warz - Endurance Challenge #2 - an oddly enjoyable funk album centered around Star Wars characters written by people that I'm convinced ever saw the movie. At least listen to the Wookie Song just for the sound effects.

If you need more, just watch Magic Carpet Cat for a few hours. It never ceases to be entertaining.

It's unfortunate that the Animation Sequence Project embeds their submissions so tiny because the concept is great. Ask anyone with animation, video or art skills to create a 10 second animation that begins and ends with a 250x250 square dead center. That's the only requirement and it allows every animation to be linked together, despite being entirely unrelated.

Tomorrow is Record Store Day - a celebration of independent record stores (and an effort to raise capital for physical media). So, make an effort to drop by one of your local record stores if you have one and stare at all the folks crazed with vinyl fever. Or, better yet, join them.

• "Chops Sawyer" - Marionette drummer playing Rush. Speechless.
• Dogs Who Fail At Being Dogs - title says it all. Silly pooches.
• Star Wars: The Force Awakens Teaser #2 - despite my better judgement, I enjoyed this. It's obviously pandering on so many levels but count me in. If McConaughey likes it, I like it.
• David Hasselhoff - True Survivor - music video from the forthcoming Kung Fury short. It's as ridiculous of an 80's music video as you'd want it to be.
• Sizzler Promotional Commercial 1991 - I'm calling this an Endurance challenge. How far can you make it through this 4 minute internal training video for Sizzler. Seriously, is this a joke? Surely this was not really circulated. It's so insane.
• Ty Dolla $ign - Paranoid - this is the strangest combination of R&B, horror and sci-fi rolled into one well executed package that I've seen. I mean, I haven't seen a lot but this one takes the cake.
• Aaron's Animals - Cat Sledding - no one ever explain this to me.
• Mystery Twins - TV Talk - a friendly reminder that Mystery Twins released a bad ass new single with an animated cover. Enjoy it!

• Penicillin Baby - Stick It Out - Nashville band that's been good for some time but they've just released this weird video and are going on tour. Hoping for good things from them.
• Stairway To Stardom (1988) - Horowitz & Spector "Boiled Chicken" - This is but one entry in the spellbinding collection of Stairway to Stardom courtesy of Network Awesome. Many thanks to Paige for the existence of this wonderful little spot on the Internet.
• The very BEST of TAMMY Chelcie Lynn - I posted an out-of-context clip from Chelcie Lynn last week and soon learned that her hilarious redneck character is, indeed, intentional. I'm a bit bummed to be in on the secret but happy there's so much more of her absurdity to see.
• Real Life Batsuit: Combat Armor - This guy built a real life Batsuit and uses this video to show it off. I'm all for earnestness and accomplishing personal projects but there's something about this video that is perfectly amusing. I'm sure they are aware of a man fast punching at a person's stomach is a classic comedy trope. Well done Bat fan.
• Ethnic Zorigoo ft Zaya - Mongolian throat rapping. It's a thing and I love it.
• mooney's minutes - nice dose of Kyle Mooney from 2013. You needed a little awkward in your weekend.
