Friday Videos - April 13th, 2012

posted April 13, 2012 #

Hey, it's Friday the 13th! But, more importantly, it's just Friday. So here's your playlist. If you're in the Nashville area, I suggest you hit up The Basement tonight.. just sayin.
  • Duane - you know what you're going to get when you watch an Everything Is Terrible video but sometimes, like with Duane, you just wanna watch it over and over.
  • Best Worst Car Chase Ever - you think Michael Bay is over the top? Think again. All action movies should be this ridiculous. via Paul.
  • A Dramatic Surprise on a Quiet Street - yes, this is a viral video for TNT but sometimes advertising is done well enough that you just can't deny its goodness. This is one of those rare times.
  • JJ - the caption says it all "Best 2.71 seconds of your life." Also via Paul - a true collector of great things.
  • Green Khil Zone - this is too weird to even attempt to describe. Also, completely mesmerizing. Thank you Josh.
  • Super Seinfeld Bros - Seinfeld style instrumentation doing the Mario Bros music works amazingly well. See also: Hip Hop Matlock Theme.
  • Dancing on the Moon - yea, it's an Intel ad but because it's Japanese it's too weird for words.
Have a great weekend!

I've, mostly, had my head down this week trying to knock out a handful of projects so it is entirely possible that I missed out on the Must See Goodness of the week. Despite that, I think this playlist will properly entertain. Enjoy.
  • Project Glass: With Ads - this seems like the most realistic parody I've seen of the ole Google Glasses project yet.
  • Blowing a CD Bubble - yea, this is a weird video.. slow pacing, weird narration and assumed results but wait - the outcome is not what you expect. Crazy.
  • The Devil's Apricot - a 3 minute mockumentary clip on record producer Damon Lewis, Satan's right hand man. I laughed aloud multiple times on multiple viewings. via Paul.
  • Zeus - Are You Gonna Waste My Time? - not only is this album great but this video is a fun throwback to when videos were an insane art project undertaking. Food marionette puppets? Confused dogs? Sure, why not?!
  • Don't Be That Awkward Runner - when I saw "The Flightless Bird" I knew I had to share. It's probably best to shut it off after the introduction of the styles.
  • When Drunk People Dance - I think I could watch this all day. via Chris.
  • Juggalo Ryda Song Number 29 - I'm all for not mocking Juggalos but this video caught me so off guard with the level of surprises it contained I couldn't look away.
  • I Will Feast On Your Soul - what's going to happen here? Will there be some unexpected change? Are you able to look away from this dog's intense soul stabbing stare?
Have a great weekend! If you need a quick pick-me-up, just put this on repeat for a few hours.

Friday Videos - March 30th, 2012

posted March 30, 2012 #

Ah, the weekend! I'm ready for it. So, here's your playlist and the quick breakdown below.
  • Eagle, Fox and Cat - I immediately want to doubt the legitimacy of this but I don't see a way that it could be faked and look this believable. So I choose to believe.
  • Mikhael Paskalev - I Spy - this song will get caught in your head for the remainder of the day (and, possibly, weekend). The video is also a nice homage to Risky Business mixed with a well-executed bit of slo-mo destruction. Via Mikesell.
  • Breaking Mad - if the Mad Men intro were re-worked for Breaking Bad it would look like this. I mostly just enjoy the gigantic Los Pollos ad and Saul Goodman building overlays.
  • Perpetual Motion Bulldog - adorable.
  • Safety Not Guaranteed Trailer - Aubrey Plaza, Mark Duplass, Jake Johnson in a romantic comedy based on an actual craiglist ad. It actually looks pretty good.
  • Batman chilling his Lambo - I don't want the background story on this, ever.
  • Drunk Guy Sings Bohemian Rhapsody - not just a little bit, the entire thing. Seriously, the video is 6 minutes. Can you survive the gauntlet?
Have a great weekend! Don't forget to go download this!

Friday Videos - March 23rd, 2012

Technically speaking, it's been two weeks since I've posted a collection of videos because ole Mikesell handled the duties last week. So, with that in mind, this weeks playlist is rather hefty. Maybe you've seen them all. Maybe you haven't. Either way, it's another installment of weekly distraction.
  • Aziz Ansari's Dangerously Delicious Promo - yea, I mentioned earlier this week that I was involved with the VHX team and the launch of the new Aziz Ansari site but it bears repeating. Let's make this thing a success!
  • Mad Men: The Game - just watch the opening sequence on this. The actual "gameplay" isn't all that engaging but the title sequence done with 8-bit graphics and sound is top notch.
  • DJ Flula Remixes Celebrities - why not make these press junket interviews interesting? And who better to make uncomfortable than the comic cast of Jeff Who Lives At Home. My favorite part is that Mark Duplass seems incredibly un-amused.
  • Good Books "Metamorphosis" - Good Books sells books online and pases profits on to Oxfam. The relationship of that idea to this phenomenal animation paying homage to Hunter S Thompson is sort of unclear but... whatever. It looks great.
  • Sony Xperia via Wes Anderson + Laika - reknowned animation studio Laika and everyone's favorite director, Wes Anderson, did this great bit for Sony Xperia. I've no interest in the product but it's a quality commercial.
  • Pentagram Sam - words fail me in describing my delight in this video. Is it parody? Is it an actual complaint against people faking interest in dark arts? Is it a legit expression of keeping it legit? Whatever it is, it's captivating from start to finish.
  • High-Pitched Voice Theory - vocal expert examines neanderthal vocal tracks and theorizes what our ancestors might have sounded like. Because it's British, it's impossible to tell if this is a joke or actual news reporting. It can go either way.
  • Coca-Cola Contest - just an impressive animation that you should definitely watch.
  • Kurt Vonnegut on the Shapes of Stories - Vonnegut's delivery style is always amusing and his take on story archetypes is a great example of his perfect blend of sarcasm, bitterness and goofiness.
  • Don't Talk - I've no background info on this feel good pixel animation and I don't want any. Especially because the ending is just too inexplicable.
There are loads of other videos that you probably shouldn't miss out there on the Internet this week - like this or this or this or this but I'll trust that you've already run across them.

Have a great weekend.

I'm still out and about in the wilds of Austin, TX but I was fortunate enough to talk Chris Mikesell into curating a Friday Videos playlist for me. The following playlist of videos were all selected by him as well as the descriptions. Guest curator content! Maybe I can get used to this...
  • Internet Explorer 9 Promo - Normally I'm not much of a fan of Microsoft's promo videos, but I'll make an exception when they do something right.
  • The Shoes - Time to Dance - I'm sure a few of you have already seen this, but this made the rounds earlier this week, and I didn't want it to fall through the cracks. (NSFW due to violence)
  • Fez Gameplay - Lately, I've been playing lots of indie games, I'm really excited about Fez. From what I've seen of the gameplay it incorporates three dimensional gameplay a lot like how Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door did, but better.
  • Neil deGrasse Tyson on Carl Sagan - Neil Tyson on why Carl Sagan was such an extraordinary man. If everyone was as passionate about their work as this man, the world would be such a better place.
  • Cookie Monster Bad - wait for the reaction, it'll brighten up your day.
  • Piano Cats - Wow, this ended up being really nerdy, so, just to balance it out, here's Piano Cats
That's it! Thanks to Chris for the video selections and the words. Have a great weekend.

Off to SXSW

SXSW 2012
I'm off to SXSW today. Why am I attending the Music portion and not the Interactive? Good question. This year, the professional answer is so I can properly support the Uncle Skeleton performance at Easy Tiger Patio on Thursday. The less than professional answer is - I enjoy it and treat it like a vacation.

Blog posting will, obviously, be much slimmer in the next few days but I'll do my best to get some Friday videos coming your way. Maybe even have this guy curate it so it's extra weird.

If you'd like to meet up - go ahead and get in touch. I'll definitely be around.

I'll admit it; this week has been crazy busy and I haven't had as much time to lazily browse the web and find a ton of amusing videos. That being said, this weeks playlist should still provide some quality distraction for you. Please enjoy.
  • PES - "Fresh Guacamole" - it's probably been awhile since you've watched a quality PES animation. Fix that. Oh, and there's a new Cyriak and Bill Plympton short from the same series. Get to those as well.
  • Hospitality - Friends of Friends - quality music video featuring Alia Shawkat for an album that keeps getting heavier and heavier rotation for me. Get it.
  • Community - Season 3 'Prometheus' Trailer - I'm excited for the return of Community but I couldn't bring myself to watch the full trailer for the new episodes because, frankly, it seems to give away a lot of jokes. No thank you! I will stick with a clever re-editing of existing footage to get me excited for broadcast television.
  • Big Cats + Mirrors = Funny - showing big wild cats themselves in a mirror has the reaction you'd expect but it's no less entertaining.
  • Starburns El Starprince - speaking of Community, here's some bonus footage I somehow managed to never see. via Paul.
  • Ninja Terminator - Messenger Robot - I'd love to say that I have an extreme tolerance for bad movies but, really, I can sit through a ridiculous short clip like this one and have had my fill. However, if you feel differently - I believe you can watch the whole film.
Have a great weekend!

Friday Videos - March 2nd, 2012

posted March 2, 2012 #

Here's your playlist. Stop what you're doing, watch the videos, have an enjoyable time, rinse, repeat.
  • Savage Factory - inspired by Marble Madness, this animation is oddly engaging.. I want to see more of the world that's been created here.
  • Hyundai Azera via Wes Anderson - you've probably seen this on the TV but did you realize it was directed by Wes Anderson? You probably did because it looks like it was directed by Wes Anderson. Also, this one.
  • Rick Santorum - A Bad Lip-Reading - yea, it's the same trick as all the other Bad Lip-Reading videos but, as Paul says, it's a joke that never gets old. "I borrow meat... to provide for my putty-tat."
  • Douchebag Siri - I probably shouldn't enjoy this as much as I do but you know you agree with the sentiment.
  • World's First Beatboxing Champion (1938) - I'm not sure I'd call this beatboxing in the sense that you typically think of it.. maybe more Scat Singing? But whatever you wanna call it, it's great. Particularly the "trumpeting."
  • Top 10 1980's Pop/Rock Sax Solos - I would enjoy a Top 50 version of this with full-length songs please.
Have a great weekend!

Friday Videos - Feb 24th, 2012

posted February 24, 2012 #

Greetings web traveler! You want the playlist for this week? Well, there it is! Here's the breakdown:
  • The Shins - Simple Song - the director duo DANIELS did this amazingly epic video for the new Shins track off their forthcoming Port of Morrow. Even if you don't love the music I bet you can't deny an abundance of appreciation for Richard Swift's curly mop of hair.
  • Stan Freberg's Banquet Frozen Dinners - Paul said it best in regards to this commercial... "ACTING!"
  • Meow! Sad Toy Cats - I feel like I've seen this before but how could I forget about something so absurdly insane? Whatever the case may be - it's timeless in a way that can't be described.
  • Blake Anderson's Impression of a Nice Guy - you know what's coming but you will still enjoy it.
  • Key & Peele: Dungeons & Dragons - I'll be honest, I fully expected not to enjoy new sketch show Key & Peele but just about everything I've seen so far has been amusing. This sketch in particular. Mildly NSFW language but whatever; too good.
  • Le Voyage dans la Lune - have you seen the fully restored / colorized version of Le Voyage dans la Lune set to original music from AIR? It is such a weird piece of work. If you're interested, watch it in its entirety.
  • Winnie the Pooh GTA - I can't explain why I find this so hilarious but I think it has a lot to do with the running style of ole Pooh himself.
That's it! Wish I had more for ya but my weeks have been crazy lately. Be sure to snag that new Uncle Skeleton and have a great weekend!

Friday Videos - Feb 17th, 2012

Another week, another playlist that I hope provides the proper amount of amusement and distraction to kick off your weekend.
  • Stereo Skifcha - remember this incredible gif? Well, here's the original video and the Dubstep remix, included in the playlist, is every bit as good.
  • Orphic Oxtra - Skeletons Having Sex on a Tin Roof - don't let that title dissuade you from a proper viewing. This is 3 minutes of bizarre, completely enthused, dancing. The title is irrelevant, the visual is the treat.
  • Happy Valentine's Day Miley - I remember being a kid and being obsessed about particular subjects but this really, to me, falls into a creepy category that I'm just not comfortable with. via Chris.
  • Jealous Alpha Male Monkey "Attacks" Man - you know what's coming from a mile away but you could never predict that build-up that comes with it.
  • The Octopus Dance - let this video embody the free spirit you should strive to embrace over the weekend and, honestly, in the entirety of your life.
  • 100 Greatest Nicolas Cage Quotes - did you know that the new Ghost Rider movie is based on Cage's life, sorta. Basically, he's a complete nut and completely comfortable with it. This is not a new observation in any way. Watch the video and tally just how many of them are just yelling. Here's a spoiler, it's damn near 100%.
BONUS
  • Bill Cosby - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - I was going to link this in a mocking way but then I realized I loved it. Maybe you will as well. via Paul.
  • LED Surfer - not exactly a ridiculous video but an impressive one. Filmmaker Jacob Sutton filmed snowboarder Will Hughes wearing a suit covered in LED lights - providing the only light source for the film. Unsurprisingly, the results are great.
  • Miniature Drum Solo - because I love that this even exists.
Have a great weekend!

Friday Videos - Feb 10th, 2012

posted February 10, 2012 #

This weeks playlist is a little on the sparser side but I think you'll still be entertained. As usual, get yourself on VHX and follow along if you want more randomness thrown your way during the week.
  • The Casual - summer will be here before you know it.
  • Squishy Baff - this honestly seems like a Tim & Eric style product, not something you would honestly want your kids interacting with.
  • Manhole Cover Explosion - what happens when you drop a firework down a manhole cover that's holding back explosive gas? You get your jacket blown off. Insane. via Chad.
  • Excitable dog plays it cool - A+ recovery move.
  • Grizzly Bear Cub and Wolf Pup playing - I assume this is being written into a Disney movie plot at this very moment. In the meantime, enjoy the rambunctiousness.
  • Collapsing Cooling Towers - buildings transformed into cute characters being demolished. Entertainment, Achieved.
  • The Karate Rap - 1) I have my doubts on the legitimacy of this but there's evidence to support that it isn't parody. 2) Stick with it, as it rolls along it gets progressively weirder.
BONUS How about some music videos? Have a great weekend!

Friday Videos - Feb 3rd, 2012

posted February 3, 2012 #

The playlist this week doesn't have the Dishwasher destroying itself, Kristen Bell's Sloth Meltdown or Sh*t Cats Say (though it probably should) but I think you'll still find some quality within. Enjoy.
  • Jurassic Park Theme Song (Melodica Cover) - it's almost as good as the 20th Century Fox Flute.. almost.
  • Wes Anderson - From Above - a compilation of overhead shots featuring hands from the works of Wes Anderson. Not particularly zany but a delight to watch.
  • Old Spice - Bounce - I would be perfectly happy if Tim & Eric stopped doing any of their other projects and just directed commercials like this. It's just the right dose of their insanity.
  • Apple Scotland - Siri - plenty of NSFW cursing and a questionable Scottish accent but I love seeing Gavin McInnes rage.
  • Guitar Player Ripped Off Stage - so perfect. via Paige.
  • Megan Amram on Animal Cruelty - this may come across as in extremely poor taste to some but I couldn't help myself.. I laughed and laughed. Nothing is outside the realm of comedy fodder, right?
  • Space Stallions - I can not fully explain why I enjoy this. Obviously a bit of nostalgia for 80's cartoons but it stays right on that blurry line between mocking the genre and contributing to it. And the animation style is great.
  • Toast - you probably know Good Neighbor from their street interviews but they do other skits as well. I suggest sticking with this one because right when you can't bear the "toasting" anymore - they take it somewhere absurdly out of left field.
  • Heavy Panting - absolutely nothing special about this video except the fact that it features 45 Saint Bernard dogs out for a walk. I choose to believe they exist in the wild in this capacity.
Have a great weekend!

Plenty of videos in this weeks playlist but the majority are all pretty short - so you get a quick blast of humor. I am sure you'll enjoy.
  • "Let's Dance" - I don't want to spoil the surprise but lets just say that I'm indebted to Lee for the magic that is RockerClogger.
  • Coming Soon - Ferris Bueller 2? Some sort of Superbowl promotional something or other? I guess we find out Feb 5th.
  • Ball Boy Catch - nailed it. "Everybody's on their game."
  • No No Thom Yorke - you will never hear Radiohead the same again.
  • Kaylee Blowing out the Candle - basically it's the new David After Dentist but, who cares, it's adorable and hysterical. The entire time.
  • Kramer + Skrillex - whatever your thoughts on Skrillex are irrelevant because you can't deny how perfect this blend is.
  • Wastelander Panda Prologue - "The tale of the last remaining panda in a post-apocalyptic wasteland." This is actually the prologue to a legitimate TV series in development. Guess who'll be watching that one?
  • Romantic Saxophone (HD) - Crudely animated birds? Check. Terrible Water Ripple Effect? Check. Scantily clad woman playing a saxophone? Got it. Favorite thing ever? You betcha.
Have a great weekend.

A short and sweet playlist this week. I intentionally omitted the likes of a few candidates because I assume you've already seen them.
  • Drunkest Drummer in the World - next time you feel a little inebriated remember that you're nowhere close to where this guy is at. He actually kind of pulls it together despite it all.. impressive.
  • Hercules - Disappointed - this may have been a stage direction, not a line to scream. So good. via Paige.
  • Ackbar Practice - yea, this meme has worn out its welcome but I'm still amused by it and hadn't ever seen this compilation. Stupid but perfectly amusing.
  • Haters Gonna Hate - obviously inspired by the Omar Noory creation this is the perfect real life embodiment of the original drawing.
  • Jaaam (Fresh Prince Mix) - typically I'd stray from anything Fresh Prince related but this Pogo mix just gets better and better the long you let it play. You will undoubtedly be singing a bassy "Jaaam" all weekend.
  • Hello - how about Lionel Richie song lyrics as remixed by movie quotes? Okay, yea, I'm into that.
  • Rave On - I'm convinced the Internet exists to bring us treats like this. You get to keep a safe distance but still fully enjoy every single moment of jaw-dropping absurdity.
Have a great weekend!

I've been told my video writeups for the weekly playlist may be getting a lengthy for their own good.. I'll try to keep it brief but can promise nothing. This weeks collection falls a little bit on the weirder side of things - no Mean Kitty Steals Note, Child vs Lion or Adorable Butterfly Chasing - though I suggest you watch all of those as well.
  • Pizza Boomerang - be advised: there is some serious NSFW imagery later on here. You know, once the ripped God character delivers the Pizza Boomerang to save us all.
  • Spacerkisser - I don't know the story here and don't want to. Perfection. See also: Beedeer.
  • The Basement Promo - cut-for-cut remake of the Three's Company opening sequence done with local bands. If you're in the area, come out to The Basement tonight; it's going to be a good time.
  • Sh*t Nobody Says - not phenomenal but a handful of legit chuckle moments throughout.
  • Breaking Bad POV Compilation - if you've not watched the show, this doesn't spoil much (okay, it does). If you have, you'll appreciate some of the weirder POV shots that they work in (especially that Shovel Cam).
  • Scorpio - from Astrology Songs by Harvey Sid Fisher.. your new favorite artist.
  • Twista at Sunset - 5 seconds of unexplainable, spellbinding entertainment.
  • Welcome to Urf - a slow build to a strange, ridiculous payoff. Something I believe Mixel would love.
That's it! Hopefully you are entertained. If not, go visit Paul, Casey, Chad, Chris or Paige for plenty more.

Have a great weekend.

It may be a new year but the format hasn't changed - another weekly dose of videos for ya. Here's the playlist. Enjoy!
  • Mannings Plus Cat Quest - maybe you've seen some awesome commercials in your day but this one will now reign supreme above all others. via wiseacre.
  • Beard Punch - I try to stray from the Beard related content these days but this is too ridiculous to miss. You know what's coming but it's still great when it happens.
  • Doakes throws Dexter a surprise party - some NSFW language in this 5 second clip but, from what I hear, it's better than the entire last season of the show.
  • Cat attacks singing card - the ferocity involved with the attack (especially the second one) is the perfect representation of how we all feel when encountering these kinds of cards.
  • Gymkata - Kurt Thomas is three time world gymnastics champion... and a fighting force not to be messed with. His combination of fighting and gymnastics creates a whole new form of karate - Gymkata. Go ahead and queue up the whole movie for your weekend pleasure. via Joey.
  • Thin Lizzy vs Pixies - The Boys Are Back in Heaven - in remembrance of Phil Lynott's death this week in 1986 please take a moment to enjoy this perfect mash-up. via Paul.
  • Harrison Ford watches Indy for the First Time - for whatever reason, Harrison Ford has never watched the Indiana Jones films. This video captures him screening the films for the first time. Brought to you by the same quality source as Alien Autopsy and Michael Jackson's Ghost videos.
  • Green Goblin Makeup Test - turns out the Willem Dafoe Green Goblin from the 2002 Spider-man could have looked a lot more like the comic book version. In proper nerd lamenting style, I wish it had gone this way.
  • Conspiracy Theory Rock - a 1998 Robert Smigel TV Funhouse that only aired once and has been removed from all later airings. While it's certainly not Ace & Gary style funny, it is phenomenal that this was ever put on TV. Glad it found a new home online.
  • Noel Fielding's Luxury Comedy - best known for his work in The Mighty Boosh, Noel Fielding has his own sketch comedy show coming up on E4. I'll reserve judgment until I've seen it but I'm fairly confident it's going to be beyond weird. Maybe Richard Ayoade can be the balancing force of sanity without Julian Barratt but it's unlikely.
  • Chevy Cocaine Bopp - take the cocaine snorting of Chevy Chase in Modern Problems, combine it with some freestyle dancing and - viola! - Internet gold.
If you're still in need of entertainment head over to Funny or Die and catch up on their "Spring 1986 TV Line-Up" series that's going on. Buildings, Prairie Children and Cop-Puter are good places to start.

Have a great weekend!

Last weeks playlist may be stronger in the ridiculous department but I wanted to drop one last compilation of videos for the year just in case you were sitting at home aimlessly browsing the Internet. Who am I not to provide 10 minutes of brainless distraction? So, with that in mind, here's this weeks playlist. Enjoy!
  • Don Cherry's Piano Desk - I'm no fan of sports commentators but just wait for it... and then wish all TV was actually done this way.
  • I Don't Want My Pizza Burning - the best version of "Beast of Burden" you never wanted to hear; complete with a somewhat terrifying animation.
  • G-Thing - I thought you might want a soundtrack to ring in the New Years. Here it is. Send all thanks to Paul.
  • Santa's Pub - straightforward mini-documentary on a new(ish) bar in Nashville called Santa's Pub. I can personally attest to its greatness. When in Nashville, go to Santa's Pub. Santa (Denzel) is the best.
  • Dice Jobs - 8-bit animation style advertising the job finder Dice.com. Maybe it's just me but it really seems to make tech jobs sound awful and the last thing in the world you'd want to apply for. Self-defeating? Likely. Amusing animation regardless? Yes.
  • Lion Cub Gives His Best Roar - not quite there yet but shamelessly adorable.
  • Lazy Dog Eating Spilled Food - I feel a great deal of empathy when watching this video.
  • Hamlet - one of life's greatest questions as pondered by claymation. Simple and enjoyable.
  • Drunk Man Tries to Walk Up a Hill - be careful on New Years Eve or you may end up struggling with a slight incline. via Chris.
  • Waving Bear - because I'm still not over watching this.
That's all I got. Hope you have a wonderful New Years and I'll return to regular posting sometime in early 2012.

Nine Videos
While I should probably have compiled a Best Of Christmas style Friday Videos for you, I have not. Instead, I've put together another compilation of weird, quirky and amusing videos to round out your week and, potentially, share with your family in those down times you experience sitting around enjoying your time off. Long story short, enjoy!
  • Morphology - a quick animation from Peter Sluszka that may inspire you to start a little stop animation project of your own. Love the style.
  • Reindeer - you may remember this E4 ident video from Treat as it was included in a prior Friday Video compilation. However, you need to revisit it now along with the rest of the series: The Carol Singers, Pole Dance, Workshop and Christmas Trees. Show it to your family, they'll wonder how you got so weird.
  • Sex Is No Accident - a series of promotional videos for MTV Germany that remind you that sex doesn't happen by accident; a mindset that I'm sure countless teens have around the country. Be sure to watch the other videos in the series as well.
  • Best Singer Ever - Whistler Re-Dub - I'm still not over the allure of the original but this new overdub is pretty solid.
  • Extended Kung-Fu Auditions - how have I never seen this before? 2 full minutes of earnest auditioning from people that have no business attempting karate in any form. Now when you walk around the house screaming "Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!" it will make sense to all who hear it.
  • Stealth Cat is Not Stealth - just wait for it. Seriously, wait for it...
  • Grandpa Shufflin' - if I can be half this awesome at this guys age I know my life will have been a success.
  • Best Fails of 2011 - nothing like a twelve minute reminder of all the ridiculous, stupid and terrible things people bring upon themselves.
  • Epic Santa Dog - don't be fooled, this isn't the cute overload that you think you're getting once it kicks in.
As with every holiday season, I recommend you make time to watch Matt Berry's AD/BC Holiday Special - it's the best, most absurd, Christmas special to grace the airwaves.

If you find yourself in need of more entertainment after this just cruise on over to Wimp.com and you'll be sure to see the top videos that the Internet is offering at any given time.

Have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Cinema 2011

I could lump this Cinema 2011 tribute in with the Friday Videos but it deserves more recognition than that. This is a gorgeous compilation of films from the past year cut together in a way that spans the emotion spectrum just perfectly. For me, it serves as a reminder of a number of films I still need to see and a handful that I need to rewatch again and again.

Nine Videos
It's that time again! Load up the playlist and enjoy the slacking off from work. I've got some treats in store for next week to, hopefully, wrap up the year but, for now, enjoy the weekly goods.
  • Old Spice - Motorcycle - It is remarkable how great the ad campaigns for Old Spice are; especially considering that I've zero interest in the product. You know you created something great when a customer wants to watch your advertisement over and over. Amazing.
  • Inappropriate Folgers Commercial - yes, it's inappropriate but not really.. or is it? Either way, hilarious.
  • Haboob Swallows Phoenix - do you know what a Haboob is? Did you know that they aren't that uncommon in the dryer parts of Arizona and New Mexico? Do you understand how terrifying they appear to be?
  • Titanic: The Animated Movie - this trailer brings up so many question it's difficult to wrap your brain around. Why does it exist? Why is there a fun loving kids movie based on an enormous disaster? Why is there a rapping schnauzer? Why is his backing band comprised of stereotyped mice? Why, Why, Why? via Paul.
  • Geek Love TLC - there is a fine line between laughing with someone and laughing at someone. I'm not sure where the new TLC Geek Love show falls but it seems like something we should all watch in order to decide.
  • Priceless Hippo - your level of enjoyment of this is a good gauge of your maturity levels. Me? I'm about 8 years old because I loved it. (Please note, this occurrence is not uncommon in Hippos but it is hilarious).
  • Drive Recklessly - an educational PSA on the dangers of speeding. Would you rather save 30 seconds or a life?
  • Cheers - NORMisms - it's been many years since I've watched Cheers.. this Supercut is a nice reminder that we all need to revisit it.
  • I Gave My Kids a Terrible Present - Jimmy Kimmel gets parents to trick their kids for the benefit of late night TV again. The results are hilarious but I can't imagine doing this to your child; some of them seem incredibly upset! Fortunately, you know they'll forget.
  • Waving Bear - you will watch this on repeat for the remainder of the day.
BONUS Have a great weekend!
