If you don't love some of the gems
this week you are no fan of Friday Videos. By all means, go forth and enjoy.
BONUS
- A Portland Food Cart: Part 2 - great looking video showcasing the Siete Suerte taco truck in Portland, complete with side mosaic by Jeremy Okai Davis.. he even makes a nice cameo in the video. Acting!
- El Guincho - "Bombay" - quite NSFW but it's an incredible montage of clips featuring the cosmos, guns, bows and arrows, bare breasts, sparklers, innuendo and a load of great music.
- Bill Monroe on NYC Subway - yea, that's right. This is so good you need to watch it again.
Have a great weekend. I return to TN on Sunday, first time home in seven weeks.. should be interesting. In the meantime, if you're in NYC - hit me up, we can hang out.

Busy week this week! So, not that many videos.. but why force it? I encountered a bunch of weird
sports clips but that's not my bag. Long story short.. on to the
playlist.
- Get Down - I think I've posted this before but it never gets old. Watch this every morning to improve your day by 200%.
- Good Dancing Avatar - the low res render mixed with the sweet dance moves is an undeniable joy.
- Let's Eat a Godd*m Snack - wait for it...
- Tesla Guitar Iron Man - this is either the most bad ass thing in the history of hard rock or one of the dumbest. It's a thin line between the two.
- Epic Skateboard Trick.. oh wait. - there are a slew of these videos but this one hits the spot just right.
- Brooklyn Storm - not particularly funny or oddball but a rather impressive (and somewhat terrifying) take on a huge storm rolling through Brooklyn.
BONUS
Have a great weekend!!

YouTube's having some problems with their Playlist Editor this week so this isn't the optimal order of things but that's alright.. Enjoy the
playlist.
- 80s Keyboard Man - in a Karate gi. The jumping around is great, the music is great, the set is great but the real icing on the cake is the random spacemen lurking in the back.
- Watermelon Slingshot - pretty annoying clip from The Amazing Race in which a competitor gets absolutely demolished in the face with a watermelon. It is painful to watch but "they don't call it the amazing race for nothing!"
- Klingon Fukkireta - I told you this would be back. It's annoying, it's dumb and it's entrancing.
- AutoTune: The Backin Up Song - glad to see that this woman got the full Gregory Brothers autotune treatment. It's a surprisingly effective pop song.. love it when her voice cracks on the "Oh! Why did I need coffee now?"
- Comb Jellyfish - not a wildly amusing video per se but I can't get over this creature actually existing in nature. It is spellbinding.
BONUS
Have a great weekend!

Gear up for your three day weekend.. maybe even take off work early today. You deserve it. Here's the
playlist and the breakdown...
- Inception Cat - wait for it.... wait for it.... keep waiting.. you don't even need sound for this to be enjoyable.
- Executive Party - take a scene from Rollerball and put music from a previous scene over it. Result: Gold. via Zach.
- When Good Bananas Go Bad - the herky jerky movement here is so perfect.. I can't help but die laughing. Via Chris.
- Plane Propeller via Cell Phone - high speed propeller with low frame rate results in incredible effect. I don't know how this happens but it is phenomenal.
- Action Sequence - I wasn't sold on this until the final scene with the sword.. the build up to it is good but the payoff is the best.
- Coffee Lady Describes Incident - nothing that crazy here but you get the feeling that local news are putting this stuff out there as an attempt to create the next meme...
- Coffee Lady Remix - ... and it's totally working. This remix takes it to a whole new level. After the 1:05 mark you can stop watching.. as there is no need to get an update from the remixer on what he's been doing lately.
BONUS
Enjoy your weekend..

You know the drill. Watch
the playlist and read along my insightful poignant thoughts below for each video.
- In the Summer - disgusting on a number of levels but it's one of those things you just can't look away from. I love the girl screaming at the end.
- Best Dog Food Commercial - hands down, the best way to get someone to buy dog food. Via Public School.
- Hot Drinks - training video from Wendy's on how to handle and serve Hot Drinks. At the end of this video you will have zero questions but you will have a fantastic new song stuck in your head. Via Paul.
- Cold Drinks - same as before but for Cold Drinks. Stick with it or you'll miss the surprising treat before the Tea instructions. Soulful R&B voice? You better believe it.
- Levi's Trademark 1977 - Commercials are way less Out Of This World than they used to be. I say this as a positive thing.. as this Levi's commercial really puts me in a weird headspace. Via Madrid.
- Fire Tornado - not the most exciting footage but c'mon.. Fire Tornado.
- English Bulldog watching TV - this guy is just chillin... There is something oddly offputting / creepy about this clip.
- Cotopaxi Volcano Timelapse - nothing insane or amusing about this.. just super engaging and fascinating to watch.
BONUS
- John Hickenlooper - I know nothing of this guys politics but I'm 100% behind his mentality for campaign ads. His site and graphic identity is pretty nice too.
- Dani Rosenoer - Punching Keys - this was emailed in and is obviously a heavy handed bit of promotion for this guys EP but it totally worked.. as I enjoyed watching him smash up the piano.. which seemed to be in fine working order.
- 1922 Kodachrome Film Test - actual color film reels from the 1920's.. pretty remarkable to see such a thing.
- Tron-a-Sutra - I probably shouldn't even link this as it's rather NSFW but the production values and voiceover work is hilarious in so many ways it really should be enjoyed. So, if you're not a fan of sex - skip this one. If you have a good attitude about such things, please proceed.
Have a great weekend! If this somehow wasn't enough video content for you - spend some time with
Zero Views and maybe you can discover the next great meme from the bottom of the YouTube barrel.

I'm not sure why but I feel compelled to throw up a quick
playlist. of enjoyable videos to start your week off. Maybe I'll regret it come Friday when I'm low on videos for the Friday Videos playlist but I'm going to throw caution to the wind regardless.
- Jens the Fox - 9-week old Arctic Fox playing with his toys. Is this even legal to own an Arctic Fox?
- Hot Drinks! - so good. Perfectly enjoyable. Via Paul.
- Dennis Parker - Like an Eagle - maybe a little disco-y for some but the lyrics are undeniable. Always hungry, always wanting.
Have a great week.

The
playlist this week is a little on the weird side. I'd blame
Zach for his onslaught of weirdo links but that's unfair.. I love them all.
- Giant Beach Bubbles - part of my wants to call this out as being some elaborate fake but I think that's just because it looks so surreal.. especially when they pop. Nuts.
- Please Don't Go - this probably appeals to a very small group of readers but I find it fascinating.. bizarre old footage mixed with stutter-y Fleetwood Mac.
- Star Trek Theme - sit tight and wait through the build up.. the payoff is 110% worth it. Then watch the rest of his videos.. love this guy. Via Paul.
- Cheri Monterey - I want this on repeat forever and ever.
- I Could Tell You But Then I'd Have to Kill You - montage of that line being used over and over.. turns out, it's always terrible.
- 80's Special Dancefight - is this honestly the rap that went with this song? Are they really robbing this guy of his socks? How is this real?? via Paige.
BONUS
- Losers: Flush - really not so into the song but the animation style is crazy good. I can't imagine the time it took to put this together.
- Marcel the Shell with Shoes On - Jenny Slate and Dean Fleischer-Camp make a silly video... the audio is hilarious; just enjoy it.
- JamnJim25 - I don't even want to say anything about this. It's inappropriate and not for everyone but I'm just stunned by it.
Have a great weekend!

Happy Friday the 13th! Here's your
playlist. Enjoy!
- Conan TBS promo - if Terry Gilliam wasn't involved in this someone owes some royalties for copping his Monty Python animation style to a T.
- Senhorinha do Ra! - do I have any idea what's happening here? Absolutely not. Do I love it regardless? You betcha.
- Bed Intruder Song (Marching Band Version) - the meme keeps rolling.. now into a respectable marching band format. via Paige.
- Break Dancing Grandma Tracy - this is over four minutes and you certainly don't need to see it all but a good healthy minute of viewing will improve your day. I love the "This is not happening" at the very beginning.. it's the best start you could ask for.
- Reading Rainbow Slo-Mo - it's like a Black Moth Super Rainbow song from your childhood. via Zach.
- What Puppy? - WHAT PUPPY‽
- Video Rehab - chalk full of insanity.. I commend you if you make it through the whole thing. Via Renaud.
- HALKa Trailer - I love the CG in this.. I sorta wish they'd just make a real Hulk movie that was this intentionally crappy looking.
- An Otter Plays With A Rock - it's the simple things in life that please me the most.
BONUS
- Theatre of War - Richard Mosse - while technically video this is more like a long form photograph. Slow paced, beautiful and a bit heavy in subject matter. I'm going to make time to watch everything Mr. Mosse has to offer. Via Kate.
- Graboids Educational Video - commonly known as Landshark or Tremor Monster.
- World's Longest Yardsale - in all honesty, I haven't even watched through this yet but the concept looks amusing.. it's just a matter of the hosts being completely annoying or not (high possibility that they may be).
Have a great weekend!

It's a slow build this week on the
videos.. stick with it.. you'll earn your humor rewards.
- Move It! - simplicity at its finest. A plastic cactus plays with a hula hoop. Mesmerizing.
- How much Hipster can you pack in a Jazz? - the part about Murakami, Godard and the user manual... perfect.
- Bed Intruder Song - remember last week when I posted this video and was all hesitant about sharing a rape joke? Yea, turns out the entire Internet thought it was hysterical and has blown it up into a fairly substantial meme (for whatever that is worth). Even NPR is in on the phenomena.. crazy.
- Bang Bang, Boom Boom - maybe this is old news.. maybe over the top local commercials aren't funny anymore.. I dunno.. but I love it. These ladies are having a grand time.
- Washing Machine Murder - washing machine + brick= murder. So awesome. Via Ryan.
- The Dancer - the second short film from Dumb Dumb, the advertising collab you may remember that Will Arnett and Jason Bateman are behind. It's ridiculous but entertaining.
- Jackass 3D Trailer - if you try and say you don't find this appealing, you're lying. via Paul.
- Arcade Fire - Ready to Start - while I didn't watch the webcast last night (too much RealPlayer style buffering for me) I have to say that seeing this footage from Madison Square Garden gets me very excited to see the band on Monday and solidifies my opinion that the new record is superb. I've read some backlash on it being too juvenile in its concept but I don't buy it.. the record is great from top to bottom; possibly their best yet.
- Kitten Can't Jump - I've easily watched this ten times on repeat.
BONUS:
- Darth Schwarzenegger - surprisingly well done Arnold overdub.
- Owl Coo - aside from this creature looking totally badass it's crazy to see it reacting like a household animal.
- Do Something Difficult! - I've seen this motivational speaker video before but the guys at Invisible Creature reminded me of it this week and I have to say.. it's still incredibly embarrassing to watch. Poor kid should have tried it before he filmed himself.
Have a great weekend!

The weeks where there are so many videos in the
playlist I worry that I'm forcing it.. but, honestly, I find all of these incredibly amusing for their own reasons.
- Wal-Mart Moonwalk - short, simple, sweet. I would go to Wal-Mart if I could be promised I'd see this.
- Pop Gear Dance - taken from a 1965 TV Special featuring a ton of British Invasion bands these little instrumental interstitials are just the perfect thing to improve any Friday afternoon.
- Inception Music Comparison - no spoilers, just a nice observation about the Zimmer score and the Edith Piaf song heard throughout the film.
- Dramatic Inception Cat - watch the whole thing, it gets funnier the longer you stick with it. Trust me. Via Zach.
- Iron Chef America Montage - I don't watch this show but the enthusiastic calls all cut together is pretty amusing. I wish it was a little faster paced... okay, this one is stupid but I couldn't resist.
- Banana Sax - pair this with Sexophone and you've got yourself an entire day of entertainment.
- Intruder Alert - listen, rape isn't funny. However, Antoine Dodson's commentary on it is. "Hide your husbands!"
- Hedonism II - I have so many questions about this but I know it's better to not have any of them answered.
- The Future of Music - youtube meme's edited together into one big mashup.. I suggest making it to the end portion with the Panda and David After Dentist. I suspect we're going to see a whole lot more of this sort of thing over the next few years and it'll never stop.
Have a great weekend.. you deserve it.

You know the deal - here's the
playlist and the breakdown:
- Happiest DJ in the World - I love this guy so much. No mockery involved at all, I honestly love his enthusiasm.
- Skatt Brothers - SKATT ROLL'd - I'll be honest.. I've no idea what's going on with this but I find it ridiculous and hysterical. Give thanks to Davis for the absurdity.
- Sex Room - Paige and Kevin introduced me to this and made the great observation that there is not even a slight attempt at being clever here - it's just up front about everything. Ridiculous. I don't recommend watching more than the first minute.
- Miles Kurosky - The World Won't Last the Night - great video from ex-Beulah frontman Miles Kurosky done by my friend Mike Landry.. love the effects.
- The Incredible Sonovox - It's a new miracle of electricity! I could listen to music like this for days.
- Tracy Morgan's "Invictus" Audition Tape - a little long and it ends on a low note but Tracy Morgan being Tracy Morgan always has some gems.
- Gate of Hades iDosing - are you familiar with the up and coming drug trend called iDosing? Apparently kids are listening to "repetitive, atonal tracks" and receiving a high off of it.. sort of like a sensory deprivation chamber I assume. I love that it's called iDosing and it's so incredibly dumb to think of it as a drug threat.
Have a great weekend!

Hopefully this
playlist will kick off your long weekend just right. Enjoy it.
- Panda Cheese - never say no to panda.
- Retail Rage - the G20 closed a shopping center and this guy is pretty erked. I find this highly amusing.
- 3 Dog Fish - this is absolutely terrifying and I am warning you now it could easily become nightmare fodder.
- Cat Lassie - so dumb and predictable but I'm drawn to this kids terrible acting.
- 100 Greatest Movie Insults Of All Time - ten minutes of movie insults. NSFW language but lots of memorable snippets.
- Dog vs Vuvuzela: Dog Wins - pretty much perfect.
- The Best Dinosaur - stand up comedian "berates" audience for their choice in favorite dinosaur. If it's not an Ankylosaurus, it's crap. This guys knowledge of dinosaurs is pretty incredible; even if the angry mode can be a little much. Via WAXY.
BONUS
Have a great
weekend.

I hate to say I agree but I totally agree with
this article from the YouTube team regarding the wide adoption of the HTML5 <video> tag. Apart from the huge looming issue of a non-standard codec being used by the various browser outlets there's also the fact that HTML5 playback hasn't really shown itself to be as robust as what Flash can do. Imagine a standard YouTube embed and its ability to shrink the video playback down, show embed options, favorite, etc. All within the same widget-y area. I've not seen such a thing with HTML5. Or imagine a playlist of videos (you know - like
these) done with the HTML5 video tag - how would it handle multiple videos? Would it be an iframe and a ton of complicated Javascript thats not entirely support across browsers (thanks IE!)? I'm not saying it's not possible but it really does feel like Flash is the better solution in most of the cases.
Obviously I'm not trying to say anything disparaging about HTML5 - I think it is exciting and very promising move for the web - but I do see some legit concerns for some of the video handling in the future. A lot of the HTML5 markup seems like a step backwards instead of forwards but I'll be happy to eat my words on that.

Here's the
playlist and the breakdown below. Please don't forget to submit your
Summer Mix Series goods!
- Laurie Anderson - O Superman - I'm sure someone will cite some familiarity in here with Imogen Heap but keep in mind this is from 1981. It is mesmerizing.. I wish I could explain why.
- Highlights from Wildwood, NJ - Jersey Shore 1994. I want to see this movie... so many great quotes I don't even know where to start. via Paige.
- Got It At Ross - two challenges: 1) I dare you to make it through the entire thing. 2) I dare you to decipher if this is a viral video started by Ross or an actual rap song? Via Zach.
- Joe Biden on Joe Barton - This isn't a funny / quirky submission but should be seen. Biden gets a lot of guff for all his gaffe's but off-the-cuff speeches like this one are top notch. Really amazing insight, good to see why he's VP.
- Vuvuzela Canyon - This is, admittedly, incredibly dumb.. but the further along it played, the more I was drawn into it.
- Militant Rooster - dumb but appreciated.
- Cats in Bottles - the cats themselves are cute but the narration is the best part. Also via Paige.
- Banned iPad Promo - I know I fall square into the realm of Apple Zealots but stuff like this is spot on and hilarious. Not all the jokes hit home all the way but there are enough to make it worth your time.
Have a great weekend!

I will openly admit this weeks
playlist is a little heavy on the animal videos but it's well balanced with some other goods, as well as a few bonus videos to fill your palette completely.

Yea, the
playlist looks short this week but there\'s a few quality
Bonus videos down there for you to enjoy so it should all balance out.
- Ultimate Warrior Anti-Smoking PSA - how is devouring a ton of cigarettes sending a message to not smoke?
- Better Call Saul: Badger - 1) If you aren\'t watching Breaking Bad, you are missing out completely. 2) Spend some time with Better Call Saul; so many great Bob Odenkirk-isms.
- Jerry - how in the world did I not know that Donald Glover (from Community) got his start with his own Sketch Comedy? There are a bunch of these.. watch them all.
- Yacht Rock Finale - I\'ve never really watched the Yacht Rock series but this finale is perfect; even without the proper context. Love it, especially Giorgio Moroder. Via Ryan.
BONUS
- Skateboarding Trick Goes... - extremely lucky and awesome capture.
- Dancing Alone to Pony - why do people do this? how are there pages and pages of people filming themselves? I\'m entirely baffled and somewhat entranced.
- Creepy Watson - poor videogame programming or intentionally creepy?
- PURE - absolutely impressive compilation of action movie sequences cut into one big long mega onslaught. Hard to imagine the time it took to do this so well.

Slow week this week? Somewhat but I think
these videos will still work to distract you for a little bit while we all wait for the weekend.
- Rick K and The AllNighters - If you haven\'t seen this video yet this week, it will soon be emailed to you by your wacky co-worker. Jump ahead to about 1 minute in to see the ridiculous drummer antics.
- BRODYQUEST - at first, I hated it. Then I stuck with it and ended up loving it. I think you will too.
- Cat Fights Mirror Cat - I love that the cat is not aware enough to realize it is seeing a reflection but is smart enough to think to attack behind the mirror. This will likely send me down into a YouTube vortex of \"Cat Fights Mirror\" related videos.
- Birds of Britain - this is much much dry\'er than what I usually serve up but there\'s nothing like some good ole fashioned British faux documentary to amuse me. The part about baby birds sold me.
- Bucket Head attacks VIP car - wait until the guy jumps off the car. Did you see that coming?
- Abe Lincoln - Whitest Kids U Know are crass, dumb and usually so far off the mark that I don\'t even bother watching an entire skit but this one does it for me. It\'s still crass and dumb but just the right balance.
BONUS
That\'s it! Have a great weekend.

Sadly, I am super busy this week / today trying to get everything ready for the show tomorrow - so
the playlist is just a meager six offerings. However, they\'re a quality six. So, enjoy.
- LOST: Unnecessary Censorship - with LOST being over now, this just feels right.
- Check It Out: Steve Brule - the new Tim & Eric spinoff, Check It Out! with Dr. Steve Brule has started airing and you need to be watching it.
- Cat Water Skiing - make no mistake, Crispin Glover has always been weird.
- New Coke Machine - this isn\'t really weird but, rather, just interesting. 1) The narrator is VERY excited. 2) The interface is about as Back to the Future 2 as you can get.
- Cafe du Nord - using vintage footage for your music video may not be anything new but something about this one seems way more spot on than usual. Check the dude at 1:10 to see what I mean.
- Big Train: Office Prankster - somehow I missed the boat on the BBC Sketch Show Big Train and am just now catching up. This sketch is a pretty good introduction to their absurd style.
Bonus
Have a great (extended) weekend!
