Slight snafu this afternoon with my site getting exploited / hacked in some way. I guess that's what you get for running a near 10-year old version of Moveable Type to power your blog. Guess who'll be writing some PHP scripts this weekend?
This guy! Anyway, enjoy the
playlist, albeit a bit paltry this week.
- Patrick Stewart on Twitter - or, rather, why he's not on Twitter. His love of the iPhone and email is astounding tho.
- Lasagna Cat Minus Lasagna Cat - as if the original weren't weird enough, the redux without Lasagna Cat is ridiculous.. but sort of perfect in its own way. Especially the soundtrack.
- The Fountainhead in 5 Seconds - absolute perfection.
- 30 Rock: Laser Shield - I am sure everyone who reads this site already watches 30 Rock but I've found myself rewatching this scene over and over and over. It's one of their silliest moments but it's hysterical because of the deadpan delivery.
- Jon Stewart on Bill O'Reilly - not so much "funny" as it is admirable. Jon Stewart is incredibly smart, amusing and pulls no punches when confronted about his opinion on things. It's silly that The Daily Show could be viewed as a source of legitimate news but he really plays no favorites.. he may be left leaning but he is the most "balanced" of them all when it comes to calling out shenanigans.
Bonus
Alaska Nanooks 2010 Hockey Intro - how have I not posted this yet? I saw this last week and it is, easily, the most outrageous and entertaining pieces of video work that I've encountered in some time. I absolutely love that this team mascot
destroys the Earth as part of his journey to get the crowd hyped. Yet another stub in my "Why I Don't Understand Sports" book... but it is truly epic and worth at least 5 viewings.
Have a great weekend.. hopefully the site stays intact from here on out!

It's Friday! It's snowing here and I'm looking forward to a low key weekend. I hope you are too.. Here's the

BONUS GOODS:
Have a great one.

This weeks videos are less insane / obscure and more just enjoyable in their own right. Hope that's alright. Watch them
here or in the embed above.
- We Got that B-Roll! - this is probably old to most people but it's new to me. Hilarious.
- Exit Through The Gift Shop: A Banksy Film - there's a lot of Shepard Fairey in the trailer but I suppose when no one knows what you look like, you have to feature other people rather than yourself. It's a great trailer and I can't express how much I want to see this.
- I'm Here - theatrical trailer for a new Spike Jonze short film. It's oddly sponsored by Absolut Vodka but they seem to have a track record with sponsoring weird things so it's not that big of a deal. Looking forward to this finding its way to the Internet in its entirety as well.
- Adult Swim Offer to Conan O'Brien - today's the last day of The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien.. Adult Swim offers him a home with them. Ridiculous.
- LOST: Flight 815 in Real Time - no spoilers here.. just a fan made film compiling all the footage from the various seasons to show what was going down with Oceanic Flight 815 before, during and after it crashed.. in sequential order. Not so much funny as it is a treasure for LOST fans. Via Jeremy.
- The 100 Cheesiest Movie Quotes of All Time - it's ten minutes long but there are some real doozies in there.
Bonus - watch
this.. silly but an entertaining rollercoaster of emotion.
Have a great weekend.

Turns out my work week this week really hampered my ability to churn up vaguely nonsensical / absurd videos.. so the offerings are a bit on the meager side. I've got some additional content below that should tide you over.
Playlist and the breakdown:
- WITI TV-6 - I miss old news show intros. This is epic in so many ways; particularly the music. Via Paige.
- Cheese Curry - the craziest / most incredible commercial I've ever seen. There's a whole series of them but this one captures the insanity levels the best.
- French Star Wars Danceoff - yea, awkward Star Wars videos are a dime a dozen but this one struck a chord with me.. I think it's the low budget outfits and the asynchronous synchronized dancing.
- Gray Gray Loves Ice Cream - I will not apologize for how much of a sucker I am for amusing animal videos. Cat head stuck in an ice cream container is endlessly entertaining, deal with it.
- Wes Anderson Acceptance Speech - as a Fantastic Mr. Fox character.
- Poochinski - failed pilot of a cop turned bulldog. Absolutely amazing. Thank you Paul.
Bonus Videos
- Typophile Film Festival Opening Titles - some hand made type animating via stop motion. Really nice.
- Tiny Hands - Jon Glaser web shorts featuring himself as a man with tiny baby ands and a load of other great comics (H. Jon Benjamin, David Cross, etc). I've no idea how old this is but it's new to me.
Have a great weekend!

Starting off the new year right with some quality entertainment. Watch the
playlist or the embed above..
- Greenscren Grandmas - the idea behind this is hilarious enough as it is but the noises the two of them make is off the charts. I'm laughing with them, not at them.
- Dog eats Dan's New Heart - despite never having seen the show I was under the impression that One Tree Hill was a drama. With that in mind, this is probably the funniest thing I've seen from TV in a long long time.
- Turkish Star Wars Training Montage - At first I thought this was just a parody having nothing to do with Turkey or Star Wars.. but then I verified the existence of it with this. The music is an overdub but the montage is real. Very very real.
- Incredible Tape Measure Tricks - yes, they're fake but they're well done and entertaining enough.
- Atomic Bomb Underwater Explosion - this is almost incomprehensible in terms of the amount of energy being expelled..
- Jan Pehechan-Ho - courtesy of Mohammed Rafi and KMS, this should be your new soundtrack for the weekend.
Have a great weekend everyone!

It's that magical time of year again when the Internet pretty much stalls out entirely for a few weeks and the amount of new content free flowing your way actually subsides to an alarmingly slow level. With that in mind, this will be one of the last posts of the year for me until 2010. There's probably one or two more left in me but maybe not.. we'll see. Anyway, I hope everyone has a great Christmas, a Happy New Year and partakes in some hardcore R&R.
Today's
playlist and the breakdown...
- Nintendo 64 Kid - yes, you've seen it. Yes, you need to see it again. The box scratching is out of control hilarious.
- Jingle Cats - What Child is This? - sit through the whole thing. No scrubbing through it or skipping, really experience the Jingle Cats! Everything from the looped cat videos, the insanely poor blue screened dog, the almost demonic pitch shifting and the absurdity of the concept in general is just too perfect.
- Sledding Accident - very AFHV style but I won't deny the appeal of those. Also, I'm fairly sure I've personally done this a load of times.
- Welsh Corgi Puppies - because your heart needs warming.
- Fozzie and the Snowman - sadly this cuts off a little prematurely but Muppets make Christmas just right.
- The Christmas Song - the video is not really something to watch but I was reminded this past weekend how great this song is.
If you're still in need of some Christmas video goodness - be sure to look at
last years Friday Videos and
BetaMaXmas to fill the void.
Oh, and don't forget
these tunes that you need in regular rotation.
Merry Christmas!

There are some bonus goods below the list, don't forget to check those out after watching the
usual stream.
- Bullying - no clue what the context of this is but it's so crazy I've watched it a dozen times at least.
- Visions of Sugar Plums - sort of Christmas-y, very weird and features the Little Superstar song.. approved.
- The Web for Beginners - A recut / amazing edit of BBC documentary footage about the Internet that was created for this competition about how the web is changing the world. "The web is bigger than a balloon."
- The Known Universe - not exactly a wacky or funny video but pretty awesomely intense. Apparently this is the "most complete four-dimensional map of the universe." I won't act like I understand how it's four dimensions but it's a captivating piece of work; particularly when you know it's based on real data.
- Top Ten Quirky Science Tricks for Christmas Parties - some great little tips and tricks for your upcoming holiday adventures.
- The Christmas Tree - an Internet classic but 110% rewatchable.. over and over. The best.
Bonus:
I'll be back next week for a short bit but have a great weekend!

A fairly healthy mix this week. Here's the
playlist. Here's the breakdown:
- Alien vs Predator - roomies! Nice ad campaign in my opinion. But not as absurd as this bike.
- 25 Years of Oprah Screaming Celebrities Names - stick with it... it's an ebb and flow of amusing to annoying to amusing. A test of wills.
- Happy in Paraguay - probably one of the best overdubs I've seen in some time. Some NSFW language but worth it to see Picard say "Warp Me To Hallifax!" and it looks totally accurate. So many amazing quotes throughout.
- ESCP Human Experience - very impressive stop motion.. kept me watching from beginning to end.
- Fishing Bloopers - blooper reals are never not amusing but add in an extra inherently funny southern'er / redneck vibe and it's gold.
- Comedy Death-Ray - Do They Know It's Christmas? - to be honest.. not that funny. Really kind of a let down. However, there are a bunch of great comics involved and a few hilarious moments (particularly Rob Huebell's ice coffee moment.. dunno why but that got me).
Have a great weekend!

Slim pickings this week as I'm still in San Francisco and have my head down on work related items.. so not a lot of video browsing time. Regardless, there's some
goodness for you.
- The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret - very NSFW language but if you're a fan of Will Arnett, Spike Jonze and David Cross you need to watch this. Channel 4 in the UK has aired this pilot that I hope gets picked up for a full series. The full episode is pretty phenomenal. You can see more clips here.
- Rammstein vs Cookie Monster - pretty dumb but amazing how well it works once you hear it in the context of the real song.
- Funny 911 Calls - this is very America's Funniest Home Videos but that doesn't detract from the enjoyability.
- Jingle Cats White Christmas - it's that time of year again.. put this on repeat in a co-workers office.
- Moving Jaw Test - well made but way too weird and ridiculous not to stare at in total bafflement.
Have a great weekend and don't forget to snag my
new mix!

In the words of
jnonfiction: "it's a Friday dressed up like a Wednesday with a whole lotta Saturday to follow." In other words, I'm planning on going on a mini hiatus until Monday but wanted to throw out some quick video entertainment to get you through the rest of the day.
Here is the playlist.
- American Budget Shopping Network - Andrew Daily in a viral video series as promo for the new Avett Bros album. This works surprisingly well.
- Hamburger Time - I don't watch Metalocalypse but I'm guessing this is atypical of the show and entirely ridiculous. There is one, censored, naked lady in the mix.. so be warned.
- Maru in Slow Mo - be sure to skip to about 0:59 for a ridiculous leap. I am entirely unapologetic for my appreciation of Maru.
- Eagle Owl in Slow Mo - just to offset the good feelings of that Maru video be sure to watch this Eagle Owl about to tear into your flesh. Terrifying.
- Crossballs Episode 2 - apparently this was a Comedy Central show featuring a ton of notable comics debating absurd topics. Sort of like The Onion newsroom but with unsuspecting real guests. I've not watched this in its entirety yet but I plan on it.
- The Muppets: Bohemian Rhapsody - the entire song. Pure and awesome. I would point to a specifically awesome part but I legitimately love the entire thing.
- The Mai Shi: Maury Povich: "We Do This All The Time" - the lead up to the payoff is entirely worth it.. watch the whole thing without skipping.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy some time off doing nothing.

Pretty tame this week folks but be sure to check the bonus offerings for some non-Youtube goodies. Here's the
playlist...
- Auto-Tune the Ads - seems like these guys are quickly moving past their prime and trying to embrace something new. At first I thought this was a bit disappointing but after watching the original ads I think what they've done is pretty amusing. Now how long until they actually get paid to do this?
- What If House Party Were An Action Movie? - the trailer works surprisingly well as a drama/action movie.. I think it's all about the music.
- Cat vs Cop - this is America's Funniest Home Video style humor but seeing a cat climb on top of an officers head is undeniably amusing. Bonus: the cops name is Keith Urban.
- Face Off With a Deadly Predator - National Geographic photographer gets adopted by enormous, terrifying, leopard seal. It offers him penguins, presumably out of pity.
- Jookabox - You Cried Me - Janet introduced me to these guys the other day and I've been pouring over the album. This video is a nice introduction to them and an excellent compliment to the song. Also, ghost eating a hot dog - try not to like that.
- Charlotte Gainsbourg - Heaven Can Wait - from the forthcoming IRM album this video consists of an endless number of absurd vignettes. Skateboard on some hamburgers? Got it. Spongebob being tackled by a cop? Done. Pancake Astronaut? Yep. Charlotte Gainsbourg doing her makeup wit a demon in the bathtub? Easy. And the songs pretty great too.
Bonus:
Have a great weekend.

Happy Friday the 13th! Watch some
videos!
- Hot Chick Risky Business Fail - not convinced this wasn't setup but it's still pretty perfect in that America's Funniest Home Videos kind of way.
- Feeding a Cat with Chopsticks - I realize cute animal videos may not be everyone's bag but, c'mon, look at this thing. It's either the most adorable creature to grace the planet or a robotic Christmas craze invented by the Japanese that has yet to hit US shores. Either way, I welcome its existence into the world.
- Poison Sockets - perfect. Via Zackle.
- Top 50 Worst Video Game Voice Acting - entirely too long but skip to 4:13 to hear the top 10, entirely worth it. Via Joey.
- Jerry Lewis Typewriter - so good.
- The Slingjaw Wrasse - this fish is terrifying in so many ways.
- Numb3r's Describes IRC - I love terribly descriptions of technology in television and movies but this really takes things to a whole new level, particularly the l33t sp34/<.
- 2012 Trailer - don't forget, 2012 is in theatres this weekend. You are required to view it.
Have a great weekend!

I dunno how it happened but I came across a ton of stuff this week without even trying. Here's the
Playlist and the breakdown...
Bonus
I Love You, Mr. Star Wars - actually, just a great compilation of movie titles as spoken by characters in the film. Pretty much fantastic.
That's it! Have a great weekend everyone. I'm off to Texas this weekend to
nerd out big time and partake in some
Fun Fun Fun.

Happy Halloween! Enjoy
the videos.
- Mysterious Mose - an incredible mix of puppetry / animation. Absolutely everything about this is perfect. via.
- Ramona Falls - I Say Fever - incredible music video for Ramona Falls. It may not seem Halloween related at first but stick with it, you'll get it. I'd also venture to say that the source material used for the video couldn't be more up my alley. Via Jez.
- Monster Parties: Fact or Fiction? - I will never tire of "Jerkin'" James Whitcroft or Dr. Retarded.
- Garfields Halloween - this probably doesn't hold up but I recall having very fond memories of said special during my childhood. Garfield gets a, somewhat deserved, bad rap but there was a time when it was quite enjoyable.
- The Great Pumpkin - a quick snippet of the Schultz classic.. always pleasant.
- Broom-Stick Bunny - another classic Halloween cartoon. Sad that animation pretty much never looks this stylized and still approachable anymore... or as entertaining. Via Chris.
- Internet Classics by Judit & Judit - bizarre, very accurate, re-creations of a number of Internet memes. Maybe there's a Halloween costume idea in there for you.
- Hummingbird Hat - I saw this on Regretsy and decided I'd love to see someone wearing it out for Halloween night. Sure it's not really a costume but it's so absurd I think everyone would appreciate it.

Reminder: Snag these Halloween mixes if you have not already:

It was a pretty good week for bizarre videos. See the
playlist or the individuals below.. and be sure to watch the extra content below that. All good stuff.
- End Cat - this is weird, weird, weird. I can't explain it but I love it.. be sure to turn your sound up for the insane audio that accompanies it.
- Chaos Reigns - super short clip from Lars Von Trier's Antichrist. I've read zero good things about the film but that fox is terrifyingly great.
- Bear vs Gorilla - the best part about this clip (aside from the fact that it's a man in a Gorilla suit wrestling a bear) is that there is no contextual information with it. Just something strange someone stumbled upon. Via.
- Intro to Smooching - These kissing styles are out of this world. There are things here I've never witnessed; particularly "The Music Kiss" - amazing. What is this from!?
- IHOP Commercial 1969 - the music involved with this makes the commercial anything but appealing. I'd go as far as to say it's somewhat frightening.
- If Peggy Vlogged - obviously this one is only for people who watch Mad Men.. also only for people that find inappropriate humor quite entertaining.
- The Bunny and Bull Trailer - as mentioned earlier; the new Paul King movie is just around the bend and the trailer finally hit YouTube.
- Bad Brains with Leonard Nimoy - typically I wouldn't find such a mash-up so entertaining but it's actually surprisingly well done. And Leonard Nimoy singing Bad Brains is not something you'd ever think you'd see.
BONUS VIDEO (aka Not From YouTube but Every Bit As Good):
- The Button - parody of the forthcoming Richard Kelly movie The Box. The joke is obvious but it's great.

Way busy this week. These offerings are somewhat weak but at least one of them will open up a YouTube spiral that is worth your time. Here's the
playlist.
- Wonka's Tunnel Reversed - I've always thought this movie was scary for kids and now it's absolutely terrifying for anyone. Thanks Davis.
- Talking Animals - the concept seems a bit America's Funniest Home Videos but because it's British, it's better. And if you don't like those badgers I'm not sure we can be friends. Be sure to see the rest of the clips offered by the BBC.
- Boxer in Deep Sleep - I am at a loss for words on this; very disturbing but totally harmless.
- Chop Cup - this was just too weird to not share. I love the aesthetic but am having a hard time understanding the end goal.
In case you didn't see them earlier in the week, be sure to watch this new
Modest Mouse video and
Terrible Decisions with Ben Schwartz.. that should take up a good portion of your Friday.
Have a great weekend.

Super slammed at work this week so here's the
playlist and the breakdown:
- Big Bird Agenda - Michelle Obama gets a mouthful on Sesame Street. If / when this gets ganked from Youtube - watch it here.
- 100 Greatest YouTube Hits - in watching this I think I can safely say I recognized 95% of the clips. This is not a boast but the sad reality of the situation.
- English Problems - apparently this is from a 2005 sketch comedy show called Kelsey Grammer Presents: The Sketch Show. The cast looks pretty solid; particularly Paul F. Thompkins, Kaitlin Olson and Mary Lynn Rajskub but I imagine the fact that I've never heard of it means it was terrible.
- Crying Number - I love that this is a 1-900 number.
- Winkers - I just want everyone to know that this exists. Via Lauren.
- Charlie Brookers Gameswipe - not the typical Friday Videos material but rather just an interesting show from Charlie Brooker about videogames and the culture around them. Pretty great stuff.
Have a great weekend.

I
really should save this for Friday videos but it's far too amusing not to put it out there immediately. The videos of
Black Magic Rollercoaster fall a bit on the irreverent side of things but they're that much more hilarious because of it.
Young Van Damme is my favorite of their offerings but
Freddy Mac and
Powder 2: Powder 2 The People need to be seen as well.
Obviously some NSFW language throughout so consider yourself warned..
