24x36

posted April 26, 2017 #

I haven't seen it yet but I'm rather intrigued by 24x36, a documentary about Movie Posters. The film tracks the popularity of movie poster art as far back as pre-1965 when the artwork was largely uncredited. I disagree with the conceit that the "art is dead" but, rather, that the tools have changed. The studios may focus on photo based collage creations but there's an overwhelming amount of evidence that shows that people still really love illustrated poster art. Which, I believe, is where the movie eventually leads its point.

The film is available to watch digitally or on your physical format of choice. I'll give it a whirl soon.
