Drag Race Can Change The World

Over the past few years I've come to have a deep appreciation for RuPaul. Her show, RuPaul's Drag Race, is the perfect blend of catty reality show contestants mixed with unrelenting creativity. If you watch it, I don't need to explain how impressive it is.

In a wonderful but brief interview she did with VICE recently, she speaks to the growing popularity of the show and what it signals for our society. There are so many troubling legislative moves to hamper LGBTQ culture but there's clearly a groundswell moving in the opposite direction. Acceptance and embracement of a show like Drag Race are signifiers of this. RuPaul's thoughts on the subject are spot on.
